- Does anyone remember Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016)? This animated movie is known as the lowest rated in the original trilogy (cause the 4th movie is the worst apparently). From DreamWorks Animation, the memorable performances by Jack Black, Bryan Cranston, Kate Hudson, and J.K. Simmons, this film has iconic characters such as Po, Kai, Mr. Ping, Tigress, and the entire panda village.
ALSO, THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I WATCHED THIS MOVIE. IT'S STILL HIGHLY RATED AND I THINK ITS THE BEST ONE. IT'S SILLY AND EMOTIONAL. PO FINDS HIS DAD AND OTHER PANDAS. BUT ITS STILL MADE FOR KIDS AND GOOD FOR EVERYONE OF ALL AGES.

This movie was meant to be more dark like KFP2 but parents companied so they had to tone it down. Kai was originally meant to Kill Po and that's how they made it to the spirit realm.

Tigress was able to find the hidden panda village probably by using the scroll of oggway's past (since she picked up right before leaving the jade palace) and by following Po's tracks

Yeah I've seen recently the back story , there has been some shorts and even a full on series , I mostly only watched the movies before and I was chocked to learn oogway was once villain
I never understood why people didn’t like ku fu panda 3. It is the weakest of the trilogy but it’s nowhere near a bad movie and it made a great end to the trilogy and everybody’s story and it is miles ahead of the fourth movie

I watched Kung Fu Panda 3 so many times that I memorized a ton of the lines.
Actually Kai seems written well, he has issues that parallel Po, rounds up the trilogy, has connections to Oogway and Po and is overall a fun time.
Clearly not well enough for people to put him on the same level as Tai lung and Shen. (Actually I guess people do put him on the same level but in terms of the movies definitely not)
Not written as atrociously as the chameleon either.

@@sallytheuselessbird Well, I prefer my villains to also be a fun time. Of course, there needs to be menace, but all menace and no fun can get a bit boring.
While I do think they overdo the fat jokes, but it actually makes sense for Po's character to be obsessed with food... Because Pandas in real life eat CONSTANTLY (though that's mostly because they only really eat bamboo, despite having the body of a carnivore).
Maybe Tigress was able to travel to the hidden village the same way Kai could: by following Po's tracks. It is shown in the movie that he left some sort of footsteps so it'd make sense. As for the time, maybe it's because Po and his father's (Can't really remember either of their names-) are slow, like, the goose is too small and doesn't have any sort of physical training, and the other two are just pandas, so...

Both Kai and Oogway we're warlords invading China They came across the Panda Village Oogway learnt from them he found his inner peace. Kai never did and saw it as Ooogway's betrayal and they fought. They we're like brothers. I am a certified Kai enjoyer.
Kai is written well. Although he could be executed in a deeper way.

The original plan showed that Kai was meant to be a more dangerous and broken villain as he killed Po sent him to the spirit realm and how he felt heartbroken after Oogway betrayed him for what he did but sadly they butchered him that much making him forgettable "goofy" villain, but I agree with your points although I'm not a big fan of him but I still remember everything he did in the movie we just want to know more of his backstory and how he created his dark powers

The fight between Po and Kai was supposed to go down differently. By that, I mean Kai was meant to kick the panda's ass so hard that he was actually KILLED! But Kai wasn't finished and so he pulled Po's soul into the Spirit Realm and that's where they continued to battle it out

fun fact in the final battle when kai attacked the panda village we can see tai lungs amulet alongside the other masters meaning that kai defeated tai lung and imprisoned him btw he didnt use his jombie form for some reason theres a theory that the reason he doesnt use tai lungs jombie is because his chi is so strong that letting go of him would probably weaken him and maybe tai lung could also escape also with oogway as he didnt use oogways jombie form as well

I didn't hate 3, it just couldn't live up to the greatness of 2.
Fun fact: pandas only eat bamboo because they can’t get hold of the other animals in the area which is why in the movie they don’t eat bamboo that much but just food.
I LOVED this movie as a kid, looking back on it the first two are probably better but this was my childhood
I might be alone in this, but I freaking love Kai. Sure, he isn't as good as Tai Lung or Lord Shen, but he's still pretty darn close. There is actually quite a bit more depth to Kai than people realise, however that mostly comes from analysing his dialogue and drawing conclusions from that. I think the fact that his deep aspects aren't as clearly laid out in the film as the previous villains' were is the primary factor in Kai being seen as the weakest villain (second weakest now). It does mean that I get to look at the movie through a deeper lens, which is something I love doing, but it also means those aspects of his character often get overlooked. There is also the fact that it is all just speculation based on stuff Kai has said, so it might not even be true (though there isn't anything that disproves them, so I don't see any reason for them not to be true).
I don’t think Kai is all that bad honestly! He just lacks depth at first glance when compared to Tai Lung and Shen. But I’m sure there’s more the deeper you look!
@@TheRealDarzii I think that's the best way to put it. If you don't mind me providing some examples (really long comment incoming):
Based on the titles that Kai states when he introduces himself to the farmers, it can be inferred that he is a warlord (this also infers that Oogway was a warlord as well). Considering that conquering and being a warlord go hand-in-hand, Kai being tempted by the supernatural power of Chi makes more sense. There's also the fact that Kai and Oogway were ambushed and presumably lost their entire army as a result, so Kai is placed in a much weaker position, and the power of Chi would help him take back what he lost.
Being badly wounded and near-death, Oogway probably did a lot of contemplating during the days that Kai carried him, and he found enlightenment when presented with the generosity of the pandas who healed him. Having changed his ways, Oogway no longer desired taking power for himself and he found the value of giving, whereas Kai had doubled down on his ways of taking, thus causing the two to fight. This is reinforced by Kai saying "I will show you the true power of Chi, brother." before destroying the Jade Palace, as though he is spiting Oogway by showing that he was wrong for not wanting to take Chi like he did.
A key theme of Kung Fu Panda 3 is the concept of giving and taking (Oogway: "The more you take, the less you have."). Obviously there is the whole 'giving Chi vs taking Chi' which is seen throughout the movie, though it can also be applied to knowledge. Po is learning to become a teacher, and that means imparting knowledge and wisdom upon others. Kai contrasts this by striving to destroy Oogway's legacy as revenge for his being destroyed, as he states to Shifu during the Jade Palace battle (Shifu: "I will not let you destroy Oogway's memory!" Kai: "Why not?! He destroyed mine!"). He is taking the Chi of every Kung Fu master since Kung Fu is part of Oogway's legacy (it is implied in the first movie that Oogway created Kung Fu), and he destroys most if not all of Oogway's scrolls in the Jade Palace when he destroys it.
In Kai's quest to take everything for himself, Kai ultimately ends up being destroyed by the very thing he sought for, whereas Po, having spent all his time giving, ultimately ends up becoming the best version of himself and truly becoming the Dragon Warrior (also note that the Dragon style in Kung Fu is a combination of all the other fighting styles).
Sorry for the horrifically long comment. I'm just really passionate about this movie trilogy as you can tell.
