Are you tired of having stale coffee because your grocery doesn't have fresh coffee beans and it's too expensive to buy fresh ones weekly?
Why not roast your own beans at home!
I've shared how I usually roast my beans on a stove previously here - • Roasting Fresh Coffee ... but now I want to see if it's possible to be more hands-free and roast it in an oven!
I bought a stainless steel mesh cage that can be loaded onto the rotisserie of the OTG and yesterday I made my first ever batch of roasted coffee. It worked simply awesome!
Yeah those work well. Just be careful of the chaff catching fire cheers.
@@overheadrecipes it was amusing to see tiny flashes on the bottom heater coil. Initially I didn't understand what was that. Then I realised it's chaff burning instantaneously. But it turned out to be just fine. Have a great day!
That was awesome 👍 Thanks David, so nice to see the process captured in a very practical way w quality commentary... im now on the hunt for green coffee beans.... :)
Thanks! Its a big mess but nothing beats fun and the science of experimenting beans, roast, and technique!
Nice video. I still have a question. How were you able to identify first crack ?
You can actually hear it. Visually, it’s usually the point where you’ll notice the beans completely shift out of the raw white/beige state and also see chaff shrinking and start turning into finer burnt pieces rather than flaky skin sheets.
Interesting, I will give it a try,I will use air fryer
Hmm might be too hot and I fear the fire hazard of the chaff
