This interview is amazing how clear Brian sounds. His voice, his clarity, flowing. Listen to the HS interview with Brian in 1998. Night and day. With all the medications Landy was misprescribing, something had to happen. The latter year interviews, it sounds like he had a stroke. He'd talk out of the side of his mouth too.
Around 22min 20 sec, Brian plays down being friends with Three Dog Night. He and Danny Hutton were actually very good friends. On the same page that Michael Nesmith invented MTV, Brian Wilson discovered Three Dog Night. Their first single was "Time to Get Alone," written by Brian. ua-cam.com/video/cqBvxvE5SNo/v-deo.html
I don't think their version of "Time to Get Alone" was ever a single. I think it remained unreleased for a number of years, actually. But yeah, Brian was obviously close with them.
Brian was to produce Three Dog Night, signed to his Brother Records label. They were still called Redwood at the time. Chuck Negron describes it best in his autobiography, how the band was emotionally and verbally hammering Brian to focus only on them, write and produce only for the Beach Boys. It's a huge reason Brian withdrew and kept sinking deeper into mental health issues. He was pretty much done musically with the Beach Boys by Pet Sounds and wanted to move on. Unfortunately, he was the benefactor for the band, a family band. Think about it. Not continuing with Three Dog Night cost them millions. Greedy Mike Love must nash his teeth over that bad decision, among many others.
Calling Linda McCartney a pig didn't win Brian over eh Howard? Oh well, at least Brian will always be remembered for his beautiful music and you'll always just be...well... Private Parts I guess.
Very funny interview several thoughts 1. Even 33 years later no one has been able to match or get away with Howards very open interview style. Every interviewer ask their guest the same boring questions that they have been asked a million times. 2. Even though Howards questions are direct, rude and intrusive, his guest never seem to get annoyed/angry with him. 3. Unfortunately Howard today has become very woke and quite tame. He has completely lost his edge. However now at the age of almost 70 you can not expect him to be asking sex question or even money questions when he is now richer than all of his guest.
“I know an ex model” aww he already was thinking about Melinda
Howard never surrenders slamming Landy. Brilliant

Hahaha "What the hell is John Stamos doing in the beach boys?" Hahaha Brian just laughs hahahhaha
Brian was friends with Jan and Dean! In fact he wrote one of their songs. ( at least one )
Yeah, Surf City, wasn't it?
Yeah it's weird he didn't mention that...
Very cool. Brian is loose and seems to be having fun.
Yes, numerous.
It’s crazy how everyone knew about how shady Landy was,
34:15 Brian says he knows an ex-model. maybe referring to Melinda, model-turned-car saleswoman
Hangin out kinda with myself
- Brian Wilson
relatable
Not even 2 minutes into it, and Howard is already doing the "Everybody is ripping me off, Right Robin? Hoo Hoo"....
21:56 they were taking about a 3 person group..all women with great voices…later to be known as Wilson Phillips
God damn, this is the best interview ever holy shit, so fucking funny, even Brian is laughing
What a nice upload! Brian is hilarious. Howard is a bit of a bellend but he has mildly amusing moments.
🙂
If you are, you were and if you were you already did, so you're all right. What a weird quote, I wonder if Brian made that up.
Brian is hilarious what a genius
right?? (yea late response lol)
Dr. Landy.. and the Brian Wilson screams
The blonde guy with Brian is probably Kevin Leslie, one of Landy's goons who was known as the "Surf Nazi".
Yes, I met Kevin Leslie with Brian in '91.
25:23 "See that? that's what happened to my eye!"
"I don't wanna look, I don't wanna look at it!"
"You better look at it, keep looking at it!"
*Howard Stern Popping sound effect*
Round round get around is about the eye socket
Well this went pretty much exactly like I'd expect a Howard Stern/ Brian Wilson interview would go.

Funny you bring up Mike Nesmith because I have heard he helped fund Three Dog Night's first tour.

Howard was great when they would go on location at awards shows.
Terry Melcher reference. Manson was looking for Melcher when he had the people on CielovDrive slaughtered.
What a hoot, Jan and Dean originated the surf sound and Brian picked it up from them.
That’s been documented and verified.
Brian was suffering from Stockholm syndrome here. Landy very much in control of his actions and words
32:24 *They were talking about the future with Beetle Juice*
🤣
I bet Landy was scared of Stern
Brian was still a follower of his cult leader Dr Eugene Landy
Get rid of doctor Landy
Brian sounds like the only grounded person here! Haha
Some DJ Stern is not knowing Barbara Ann is a cover.
The dude who looks like a lady was Landy's son the trusted evil proxy
Evan Landy aka Little Beezlebub.
Howard is so miserably insecure and resentful that even Brian Wilson seems well adjusted in comparison. Maybe he needed his own Dr. Landy.
Haha yep
Wow, to think of how that guy took advantage of Brian.
Brian is absolutely geeked on Landy's amphetamines here.
Calling Linda McCartney a pig didn't win Brian over eh Howard? Oh well, at least Brian will always be remembered for his beautiful music and you'll always just be...well... Private Parts I guess.
neither howard nor brian were very mentally healthy in 1989!
Yeah but mental health aside, Stern is a prick while Wilson is beautiful humble sweet natured man
@@subg8858 Brian liked Howard and did his show 1 or 2 more times after this.
a true PIECE OF SHIT moment fr...
@@subg8858 Stern runs on insensitivity. He's a prepubescent smartass that never grew up.
Kinda like Trump.
Also, he's a New Yorker.
Lol. Def took something when he went to the bathroom
Yes
8 mins in is frightening in hindsight. "He's got something up his sleeve." No shit, he had something up his sleeve.
There’s no such date as 2-29-89. 😂

This was actually a mess of an interview
This sad.
