Growing up in California in the '60s, I adored the Beach Boys, especially Brian Wilson♥. I still play their music a lot. Wish their lives would have turned out happier. Their music still brings us so much joy!
Thanks for the upload! Great to hear this interview but such a shame that the interviewer didn’t know about the depth of their catalogue. We could have had some insights into a lot of their catalogue as Brian was still very responsive during this time.
He said “that’s it” after in a defeated way and he may be referring to the fact it was supposed to be longer and have more parts but they settled on the stripped back short version (actually 3 minutes) instead of the insanely wonderful longer version with many more layers and parts. I think he was upset they didn’t get to finish it at the time.
I've been trying to find the source of this interview for years. I find this to be a frustratingly hard listen. Brian tries in vain to engage the interviewer by asking him to name his favorite Beach Boys tracks but the journalist only knows two or three of the most popular surfing and hot rod tunes. It's obvious from his questions the guy has only had the most basic understanding of the work of Brian and the Beach Boys and the interview suffers because of it.
@@1BKPictures1 ding, dang, he apparently had plenty of biphetamine! love that doorbell. california girls is their actual acid song contrary to popular belief. . he came up with that riff coming down from acid. pet sounds is more pot, smile is more speed. etc

We love you, Brian ! ❤️
these interviews are always fascinating because Brian was in deep hibernation from 1972-1975
Brian still sounds pretty young here
Yeah, can't hear any mental problems in this interview...
I could be wrong here Bruce Johnson surfed as well I think.
What does Brian mean by "That one lasts for 2 minutes" when referring to "Heroes and Villains"? 28:42
I don’t know what he means honestly, there’s not a single version of the song which runs 2 minutes. 😂
Perhaybe he's referring to the B-side of Heroes And Villains, You're Welcome, which is under two minutes....
Or he could be just confused (probable) 🙂

What a great personality Brian has to be so engaging with the interviewer. Lots of other highly accomplished people might be irritated and shown it.
@@magmasunburst9331 brian is a real sweetheart around this era. contrary to the whole burnout persona thats been perpetuated
He seems OK at this time to us.
That's so crazy and scary videos afraid of water, maybe he knew his brother was getting drowned someday through the universe
Roger McGuinn has a laser beam?
Who knew?
