  • Come out and visit the Big Cypress Swamp and make one of your stops Clyde Butcher's Gallery and go on our swamp walks offered October - March behind our gallery. A Big Cypress Swamp walk is more than a walk in the park, it's an adventure, a getaway and a thrill. Experience the primordial beauty of Clyde Butcher's world when you experience a guided eco-swamp tour through the swamps of Big Cypress National Preserve behind his gallery. Marvel at the pristine splendor of natural Florida as you traverse through a rarely seen world, filled with vibrant colors and mysterious sounds. In this spacious, richly diverse wilderness of subtropical flora and fauna found nowhere else, you'll learn about the fragile Everglades ecosystem. Deep in this serene, sacred space, your guide will point our endangered orchids, rare ferns, threatened bromeliad, native birds and a host of swamp creatures. Beneath the ancient cypress trees, stop and listen to the deep stillness of an unspoiled world that seems far from everyday life. In this light-filled realm of wonder and awe, you are completely surrounded by nature in her purest and most sacred state. Visit www.clydebutchersbigcypressgallery.com for more info

Clyde Butcher is indeed a great American artist, but even more than that, I believe that he has shown so many people that beauty and uniqueness of the Everglades. Because of his photography and his swamp walks, people have been made to see the wonder of the swamp. If it hadn't been for him, so many folks would still perceive the swamp as a dark, dirty and foreboding place. Thank you Mr Butcher, for gently pulling the veil from our eyes.

I was born and raised in Everglades City. It was the best place on earth until the government put restrictions on those who know the land best.

My father was best friends with Clyde Butchers son “Ted Butcher” Ted Butcher died right next to my dad in a car accident we just Clyde’s Most recent book he signed it for us my dad was right there when Ted died it was because when guys were getting chased by drunk guys there car got hit but they were fine, but then the drunk driver threw a beer bottle at the other driver knocking him out causing the car to drive right into Ted’s side killing him instantly. My dad started crying when he saw and he was at the trial and the two drivers were sentenced to 50 years in prison. One of them got out because he was incredibly sorry and he wasn’t the one who threw the beer bottle the other one had to stay in though.. Clyde do you remember Brad Miller. I’m his son
