My piggie is a happy lil man. He popcorns pretty much daily, gives kisses, always says hello, hops onto laps when he can, gets fresh veggies daily, green leaf lettuce, and bell peppers, as well as the urinary support suppliments, and vitamin-C oxbow suppliments daily. Has had recent vet visits due to needing to travel on a very safe airline with us, due to us moving. He was very healthy, clean bill of health, and he handled the flights like a champ. He's in a smaller temp cage, because we're in an appartment atm, but I'm going to buy him the same midwest cage that's like 8 sq feet that he had before we moved, once we move into our home. He really loves people, has mirrors hung in his cage, which he eats around, and gives kisses to. He also has a guinea pig plush to snuggle, which is in storage, but once we move into the house, he will have that to snuggle. He also has his shows to watch, they are at a low volume and he is super comfy with that. He will watch pretty much anything, munch on his oxbow pellets and drink some water while watching. He also is comfortable enough to sleep wherever, outside of hideys, and all snuggly with his eyes either closed or mostly closed. He's got nice fleece, and toilet paper rolls to play with, and plenty of orchard grass hay. He is incredibly friendly, even towards dogs, of course he's safe inside his cage, and is always monitored. My dog will try to bring her toys over to his cage, and wants him to come out and play with her, and of course, I won't let that happen, but it's good to know she thinks of him as a friend rather than prey. He will come up and say hello, mostly...they just kinda sniff eachother through the cage, and she tries to eat the hay off the floor by his cage, cause....y'know hay gets EVERYWHERE. Anyways, he's very well taken care of and happy. I did months of thorough research before even getting him. And while at the airport, he was such a good boy, and was loving all the attention he was getting from people walking by. He let two people pet him. It was super cute. He is 2 years old now, and a very handsome, smart, and tough little man, and I tell him those things every day, and he popcorns when he hears me say those things. He's my little man, and I love him very much.

My female guinea pig used to bite me all the time since baby, that was her way to interact with me, but after a month of care after surgery, when I had to pick her up several times a day, she seems to be grateful and licks my hands now. I'm sure she believes I saved her from being eaten))) It's never too late to tame a guinea pig!

Great video. I've never heard "girls in threes" before. One of my pigs, Cupcake, likes lap sitting completely wrapped in a towel with just a bit to peek out of. Believe it or not she will snuggle up in there for 30-40 minutes and not pee. Sometimes I take a little couch nap with her wrapped up on my stomach after working outside. I'm never worried I'm keeping her when she wants to go back, because she always emerges and tugs on my shirt when she wants to go home. Nice way to wake up, so the whole afternoon doesn't escape me. But really... 40 minutes and doesn't pee. She eats the least veggies in the group by far, and drinks the most water FWIW.
That's nice, my pig has to pee a lot, maybe every 10-20 minutes. Sometimes it's random though. And he doesn't like to snuggle on me but he will lay down next to me. So I still consider him a snuggler lol.
My guinea pig I had her out yesterday and after I have been holding her I looked at the clock to see what time it was and realized how long it had been and was shocked I was not peed on.
Much depends on the individual guinea pig. We had a female that would just sleep on my lap, and never peed on me. She would sometimes eat some poops, but that was just before lying like a pancake and dozing off. Our current piggies don't sit that long, and usually start to point noses towards the cage, and/or nibbling on the towel or clothes they are sitting on, signalling it's time to go back.
I need to stop putting my finger in my pigs mouth lol. they just lick it and nibble on it, but one day they might chomp.I love the little licks and nibbles though!
My roomate bought one guinea pig a couple months ago to keep her small dog company. I was so angry with her for doing so. The poor guinea pig did not want to play with her dog. I was furious and told her she was selfish that she should have done her research before bringing a guinea pig home. Now her dog of 8yrs died. She has this one lonely guinea pig that I have been caring for day in and day out because apparently she's to depressed to do so. Now I am trying to find another home with other guinea pigs for her. Because she wants to bring it back to the box store where it originally came from a 2x1 fish tank. I said no way. I'll care for her until I can find a safe place for her to go. Thank you for all your videos they have been very helpful to me on caring for her. And believe me she is cared for 100% I give her so much love and clean her pen a few x a day. Feed her 2x day always had hey. But I know it's still not enough. She needs another piggy to play with not me. I guess I needed to vent. Some people are just so selfish and don't deserve to own pets/ animals.
Thanks so much for these vids- new to this crew! We are moving from KY To northern CA in the next year (2020-2021) and I hope that I’ll be able to help with the rescue! I’d love to volunteer my time and foster in possible. I have a bonded pair of males, new, they’re literally the most amazing animal I’ve ever come across in my life. And I’m a vegan that fosters (almost) every animal! Lol! They’re so amazing! It’s with your vids I decided to actually adopt, and I’m so, so, so incredibly glad that I did. Aniken and Vader are the highlight of my day, every day. So thank you, Scotty!
Hello Scottye, how are you? I have seen your stories here on UA-cam, you are so dear I have learned immensely with you in how to deal with the guinea pig. I have two beautiful babies and I'm in love, for your intelligence. Thank you ♥️
My guinea pig doesn't give any sign that he's gonna pee, he just sits like normal and goes on with his life lol. Also when I first got my pig, he would bite me a lot, I was told he was very aggressive and shouldn't be paired with another pig. But after about 2 weeks he stopped, he only bit when he was uncomfortable or unfamiliar with someone. He has been really happy, popcorning and such. Infact I'm tearing up thinking about it, I'm just so happy for him. I extended his cage so he has a lot more room, and am looking forward to getting him a roomate. I do need an adult boar, because my pigs an adult. I'm glad you made this video, some people don't understand how to properly take care of their guinea pigs, and this helps them be happy :).
I love watching these! I haven't had guinea pigs since my girls passed away (of old age, they were all btw 8-10 years old when they died) in the early 2000's. One thing I used to use, was a washable yet waterproof baby pad when holding the pigs. We had a few of them, so if it got dirty, oh well, just give it a wash. Also, we would clean the cage everyday. Just pick out icky spots with a cat scoop, and put down some fresh shavings. Completely wash and put down new shavings every week. Also, every night after dinner, we would block our kitchen off from the living room and let the pigs run in the kitchen. They loved run time!
Love your heart. It all comes through on your videos. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge. It is helping me so much to feel like I am doing the best job that I can with my piggies. !!! :)
Love your videos! I’ve had my boys since May and so far so good with them living together, slight rumbles occasionally but no physical incidents! They always run away from me though, they are very timid little fellas! Hopefully as time goes on they will become less nervous around me, they do love when I bring the pea flakes though I feel like they are the way to their hearts 😂
So true! I've only ever been bit a few times. Once was my girl, Pip, who is a total sweetie, got mad over me not hurrying up with the veggies and she bit Me! Haha! Guinea pigs definitely don't hate they just get annoyed haha!
Great tips! Piggies live in herds so they only show illness when it gets really bad. Health check their poops and plus examine their eyes, feet and coat; and learn as much as you can from videos like this. Vets who don't specialize in piggies usually miss things so our little ones need us to read up and take photos to document any problems.
Guinea pigs are awesome...my all time fave Ziggy I know you shouldn't have faves but he was the one who screeched when the fridge door opened, greeted me when i came in from work, pop corned and nonchalantly munched on his own poo ha ha he was such a character and an awesome Dad as well and mate to his sow.
ive had my guinea pigs for 2 years and one of them is still scared of me and hates me no matter what i try. Ive tried giving him love, giving him personal space, ive tried everything
I have 2 guinea pigs and I have divorced parents so I can’t always be with them and that’s why I feel like they are scared of me and they run away when I try to pick them up and then I don’t wanna hurt them so I give up:/
Don't ever give up, just remember that they're little small prey animals but you can bribe them with food always greet them with whistles and squeaks and bag crinkles and treats
You always have wonderful videos that are instructive and entertaining. I have one Abyssinian piggie right now, Bailey, who’s the color of Bailey Irish Cream Liqueur plus white and “squirrel.” I have had many pigs over the years and my advice to others is to handle them as much as possible including gently opening their mouth and touching their head, belly and feet. I’ve never been bitten or clawed. Funny how some pigs have food preferences. This one loves strawberries but not raspberries. He adores a whole ear of corn with husk and tassel when they’re available and will eat it down to the corn cob, and he’ll devour a 1/4 orange leaving the peel. Scotty I swear you are a reincarnated guinea pig shaman!
Scotty, you're right on as usual! Thanks for doing such a great job raising awareness! Telling anyone I know to click and subscribe to L.A. guinea pig rescue and Scottys animals! Can't wait to see my shirt!lol.
Tips for a solo angry piggie, (he’s been very aggressive with other piggies and let’s none of them near him), he has a large c and c built cage. He’s bitten two people, hates being handed for any amount of time. He’s been on several vet visits to no solution (he has fits). He has a routine, veggies and cage toys. There are three other pigs in the room with him but they don’t share a cage so he has company to a degree. He sometimes will let you pat him when he’s in a good mood and that’s really it!
So great to see another informative video. I was thinking about adopting a pair of Guinea pig girls but now I see I need 3. Before watching this video, I wondered why most of the females available for adoption came in 3s and the majority of the males ready for adoption were in pairs.
Aww the first tip 🥺❤️ my pigs have gotten mad at me because I am bad about being on schedule and when they feel they are entitled to a veggie scavenger hunt during floor time. One will nibble my toes gently if I don’t hurry hehe.
Another really great video. So informative, and with just the right tone. I watched this and enjoyed it even though it's clear that our adorable guinea pig loves all of us all of the time!
Guinea pigs may also bite to tell you that they've had enough of being stroked. This happens even with guinea pigs that like to be either handled or stroked.
I get this feeling a lot honestly where I feel like I hate someone but in reality I'm just stressed that they said something that upsets me, but because people would tell me that I hate them because I'd run and hide from them, which in turn made me feel ashamed of this feeling to the point of self hatred.
I brought 3 female! At first I brought 2 but then I felt bad for living there sister so I brought there sister too. I could definitely see a change in them once I brought the sister home. I love watching them popcorn, its so adorable!
I have two guinea pigs one lets me pet him and the other just cannot stand me touching her. I was worried that she just wasn't into me. Your video, the very first thing you said, helped me understand so much that it wasn't the case. She comes to me to eat, which is nice, but the petting part eek, but seeing your guinea pig, that you weren't going to feed but pet, run and hide, made me feel happy that it was normal.

But if I take to long cleaning their house I get a nip when I take her and Sweetums home. They do lite up my life I would be lost without them. Thanks much!
I am new to guinea pigs I have 2 Swiss and Miss females. Swiss was the sweetest when I got her now she hates being picked up bites me all of the time when I try to hold her, I promise I didn’t hurt her or swarm her like a Hawk. I spoil them really clean the cage daily, fresh veggies daily, hay all of the time, vitamin c 50 MG per day. They have an 8 foot play pen with tunnels and toys etc. plus the cage is huge also. They each have their own food dish, water bottle, hay feeder, etc. I feed the oxbow food. Swiss really does hate me. She is also rumble strutting all of the time now and tries to bite Miss. I also have tried separating them and Swiss gets depressed. As soon as Inout then back together she is back dominating and the other squeals as if in pain and trying to bite her.
my guinea pigs are bonded to each other and a little feral since they lived in a cardboard box in some kid's bedroom for their first two years, but they love me too.

Scotty, pleae help....I'm so confused over the right veggies...I have a list from a vet online who says broccoli and bok choy is OK to feed regularly! My boys mean the world to me, so will cut these out now. They love fennel and cucumber...are these ok? Also spring greens? And red pepper? Sorry to be a pain! There's so much conflicting info out there. .you have been a great inspiration to me and thank you so much for your videos! Lots of love from Kent, UK xx
Indeed, we often misinterpret unwanted behavior for hate, or disliking us, but there is often a good reason. When I swoop down with my hand, our piggies shoot away for the nearest hiding spot. When I come to their level, then gently put my hand inside the cage, they come sniffing it, maybe a few licks, and are totally comfortable with me being there. These animals don't hate you, but they sometimes don't understand our intentions, and we don't understand the meaning of their reactions.
I have a skinny pig and he loves his own company. I also have a long haired guinea and a short haired who love each others company. I have transferred my closet into a pig pen for the two and my other closet for my skinny pig. How can I send screen shoots? Am I a good mum?
Your videos are so informative. I have two bonded pairs of boys. And my newest one David Bowie is still so scared of me. I’ll be sure to not come over him like a hawk anymore 😂
My boys are normally a really good trio. Every once in a while two of them will challenge each other. But for the most part they do very well. Admitedly, two of them we had first and they did amazing together!
I have a question. I have a 4-ish yr old female who was relinquished 16 months ago. She was sorely neglected and also always lived alone and was never paid attention to (which is why the kid’s dad relinquished her). I’ve tried bonding her with 3 piggies now. She always chatters her teeth within 30 seconds, and then not long after, she lunges and bites them and creates boo boos. I’ve tried another adult female and I’ve tried two babies. I’ve followed all the rules. I can’t keep buying piggies to try to find her a cagemate! She’s a few feet away from three in a different enclosure, so she’s around them and can see and hear them. She bites me & you mentioned being lonely as a possible cause for biting. What do I do? I love her so much and she’s come SO FAR since I got her. She loves and trusts me totally, but bites me anyway. Help!
Mike is a very beautiful Guinea pig my guinea pig she is a girl and she is gray and white she is alone so I guess I should maybe one day look for her a partner I used to have a male but got him neutered after he come out of surgery he died I love your channel thank you for giving good advice
Please dont own 1 just one....i made the mistake of taking one as a rescue..she was alone for 6 months and really just laid around...when i took her out for floor time i couldnt get her to do anything...so i researched my ass off and found a rescue and picked her up a friend and instantly...and instantly at introductions she was popcorning...skweaking....chirping....she was intantly one happy pig....she was just miserable before...best decision i made...imagine you being locked in a room with no human interaction at all...they are pack animals just like humans
I love your video! One of my pigs LOVES cilantro. She gets it daily. Kale also. Carrots, peppers, tomatoes.. Peaches, grapes, and apples occasionally..but she is HUGE. Maybe she is just big boned?
i thought somthing good to mention would be, when getting a new guinea check their teeth and make sure they aren’t misaligned. i adopted my guinea from a local pet store.(i know not the best) but i got my other two from a breeder. anyways she had misaligned teeth so i new she needed lots of carrots to munch on and extra crunchy hay. (there are different hay textures and quality’s) higher quality hay is better for your guineas teeth and health

Have you ever seen them do that big yawn and stretch? It's weird and adorable
I need to stop putting my finger in my pigs mouth lol. they just lick it and nibble on it, but one day they might chomp.I love the little licks and nibbles though!
The licks are kisses
I do the same🤣
Same ❤🥺🥰
My old guinea would always chomp down on my finger lol. My current one never does.
My guinea pigs mouth. Is scary so im oh hell noooo
Guineapigs are loveable creatures who are always forgiving and will never think of being without you.
As usual, and excellent vid. Thanks for doing these. I always learn something. 👍🏻
Thanks Arthur! What did you learn? What WILD animals would you like to learn about? Other Rescue pets?
My husband just rescued our first 2 guinea pigs! Coco and Chanel. Your videos have helped so much. Thank you!
Lol, the wheek coming from behind you! 🤣 Hanging on to your every word, just like us.
"My Daddy is right"! 😍Great Video Scotty 👍
You are a beautiful human being. May God bless you 🙏
Thanks so much for these vids- new to this crew!
Thank you ♥️
Billy's reaction at point nr 2 was very cute!! Agree on all 7 points and i think the piggies did too 😄
Hahaha, Billy bear. I'll tell him M1ssBunn1 thinks he's cute
Great tips! Thanks Scotty.
Thanks for the comment, Gallegos Fam!
Your piggie is gorgeous 🤗
Love your heart. It all comes through on your videos. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge. It is helping me so much to feel like I am doing the best job that I can with my piggies. !!! :)
You're welcome, Jenistarz!
Dude...you are the dude. Peace from Brighton.
Stuart, thanks Dude!
thank you for the tips👍👍👍
I agree
Awesome video, also I confess I think I have a slight crush on you! 🙈🙈
Aaaw xoxoxo
“Okay so just get over it” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Omg youre better than.a vet! Hahaha
Never.seen someone with.so.much.knowledge on guineapigs. Your videos.are a lifesaver! Blessings
I love how much you obviously adore all your little rescues and it’s obvious they love you back. 😁💓👍
Great video as always Scotty!
Kyle Justice thanks, Kyle!
Haha! Guinea pigs definitely don't hate they just get annoyed haha!
annoyed, hahaha for sure! But they forgive easily too.
Great tips! Piggies live in herds so they only show illness when it gets really bad. Health check their poops and plus examine their eyes, feet and coat; and learn as much as you can from videos like this. Vets who don't specialize in piggies usually miss things so our little ones need us to read up and take photos to document any problems.
I remember once I was with my guinea pig and he didn't want to pee on me so he got off me to pee then when he was done he got back on me
Guinea pigs are awesome...my all time fave Ziggy I know you shouldn't have faves but he was the one who screeched when the fridge door opened, greeted me when i came in from work, pop corned and nonchalantly munched on his own poo ha ha he was such a character and an awesome Dad as well and mate to his sow.
ive had my guinea pigs for 2 years and one of them is still scared of me and hates me no matter what i try.
Karen Anies Do they have hidies. Pick them up in their hidie its much less traumatic for you and them! Don’t give up they need your love
When I first got my guinea pigs my would nibble me to see if I react at first I use to but then I got use to it and now they don’t nibble me anymore
Hii I’m getting two guinea pigs this Sunday I’m so exited! Your videos are very helpful xx
Scotty, you're right on as usual! Thanks for doing such a great job raising awareness! Telling anyone I know to click and subscribe to L.A. guinea pig rescue and Scottys animals! Can't wait to see my shirt!lol.
Please send me pics, and you can write a review. I want to make sure they are good quality. I'll share when my new ones come to me too. :)
Watch my bonding rules. I hope i haven't confused you. Www.scottysanimals.com girls can be in pairs or 3 or 4 or larger groups. Boys 2 only.
Aww the first tip 🥺❤️ my pigs have gotten mad at me because I am bad about being on schedule and when they feel they are entitled to a veggie scavenger hunt during floor time. One will nibble my toes gently if I don’t hurry hehe.
My guineas are happy little things thanks to your videos ,your advice is on point
Another really great video. So informative, and with just the right tone. I watched this and enjoyed it even though it's clear that our adorable guinea pig loves all of us all of the time!
U r amazing we need for people like u and keep up the good work 😘🙂
Scott, you rock!!! 😁
Guinea pigs may also bite to tell you that they've had enough of being stroked. This happens even with guinea pigs that like to be either handled or stroked.
You love them Sooo much
One of mine who’s still a baby head butts my hand continuously when I try to get him out for taming.
Great video as always Scotty. You have a great knowledge of your animals and I love learning about these little piggies.
Thanks! I’ll remember this for the future.
My girls get SO excited when I clean their cage (everyday) they start popping around and happy taking. 😊
😍 I need him in my life
Mr Mikes?
Scotty's Animals yessss 😂he’s so stinking cute! They all are though so cute! You are amazing with them! Love watching your videos
Thank you :) I appreciate it very much.
Scotty's Animals ☺️
Hihi ship it ;)
I get this feeling a lot honestly where I feel like I hate someone but in reality I'm just stressed that they said something that upsets me, but because people would tell me that I hate them because I'd run and hide from them, which in turn made me feel ashamed of this feeling to the point of self hatred.
Love this! I just adopted two male guinea pigs 6 months ago.
I could cry! Thank you so much for this video.
I brought 3 female! At first I brought 2 but then I felt bad for living there sister so I brought there sister too. I could definitely see a change in them once I brought the sister home. I love watching them popcorn, its so adorable!
Your piggies are so cute when they stand on their hind legs.
When they groom themselves with their lil hands :'D
Guinea pigs are sweet gentle baby's
They need love,
Scotty, you make so much sense. Thank you for helping me love my piggies 😍
All my guinea pig does is sleep and eat and whenever I try to cuddle her or play with her she doesn’t even move! 😂😂😂
Sounds like she is very relaxed with you! What a great compliment 😍😍
Mrs B Really? I thought she hated me! 😂😂😂
@@sunfloweraldc5903 aw! I think she would run away? I've only had mine 5 weeks and I can't pick them up yet....yours seems very confident and trusting with you 😀
Thank you! Very informative.
I got a new one yesterday she is a baby and she does not like me:( witch is sad :( and also I tried to put mine with a different girl Guiana pig and they attacked eachother?
Either I heard one of yournguinea pigs purring or that could be my guinea piggies, Oreo purring to Katie while I'm watching this video lol!
Yes my piggies love to investigate the different colors of nail polish 💅 😂
Thanks Scotty that was really helpful, and little Mike is a real poppet.
I love you you just made my day loving the vibe you give off
It’s so cute seeing the way they love you! ♥️🐹
Some pigs are so smart they react to certain situations and they lightly punish. My girls love me a lot I saved them from Pet Smart, bad place, Muffrin is a very tiny girl and she is very smart. But if I take to long cleaning their house I get a nip when I take her and Sweetums home. They do lite up my life I would be lost without them. Thanks much!
Your videos are Awesome!!! Thank you for sharing Important information in such a personable way.
My guinea pigs are really confident when im around them, its just when i go to pick them up they get a scared. How can i sort this?
My boys are like this too! They hand feed and let me sit with them while they are eating....soon as I go to pick them up, they freak out 😢
Scotty is smoking that good California weed
Hey!!! Scotty is against drugs you rapscaliom
Just started to watch your videos, you're really sweet with the cavies xx
erkheth thank you :)
I don't even have a Guinea Pig, but I love all the tips in case I ever meet one!
my guinea pigs are bonded to each other and a little feral since they lived in a cardboard box in some kid's bedroom for their first two years, but they love me too.
My guinea pig doesn't drink water what should I do?
💖💖💖💖💖
Love them..so long I remember...& had them.. so long I remember...Ive now 2 Piggys.. Whitney (Mom) & Rose (Daughter) ... They love tae hug & get pampered.. but more.. they love their daily Bowl with Veggies & Fruit😋😁
Me and my dad are getting another guinea pig soon
Cool
Indeed, we often misinterpret unwanted behavior for hate, or disliking us, but there is often a good reason. When I swoop down with my hand, our piggies shoot away for the nearest hiding spot. When I come to their level, then gently put my hand inside the cage, they come sniffing it, maybe a few licks, and are totally comfortable with me being there. These animals don't hate you, but they sometimes don't understand our intentions, and we don't understand the meaning of their reactions.
Your awesome God bless you
I have a skinny pig and he loves his own company.
Always wheek with treats! ♡
My boys are normally a really good trio. Every once in a while two of them will challenge each other. But for the most part they do very well. Admitedly, two of them we had first and they did amazing together!
Its possible, but pretty rare.
