Same on the water bottle front! I can’t stand the idea of using a reusable one so I buy a plastic one and refill that until my brain decides it’s Contaminated and then I recycle that one and buy a new one

I was 5'8" in Elementary. Accidently hurting someone as a kid because you were bigger than them... I had to physically hold myself back quite often as a kid. And I still managed to hurt a couple people on accident.

Yeah. I bought one of those UV self-cleaning water bottles. So expensive. I accidentally left it at an op-shop and someone had nicked it I guess. I have ADHD 😅

I have autism, have had it for several years now as an official diagnosis, but now having struggled through college and having worse focusing problems, it really makes me wonder if i have undiagnosed ADHD or if it is all autism. Either way, I probably need therapy or something.
I also had been hanging out with a coworker for a while and had come out as autistic to them and they were like "yeah i know, i could tell" and i just looked at them and screamed in my mind "HOW COULD THEY TELL?? WHAT DID I DO WRONG?! 😭😭" I didnt get neurodivergent vibes from them so i felt a little embarrassed being clocked.
Also I feel for Kendahl. I always have to wash dishes by hand before washing them AGAIN in a dishwasher. It feels wrong and bad to handwash them only(i hate Tupperware for this reason because they degrade with multiple washes in the dishwasher) or to only load them in the washer without prewashing them. (Because ive definitely still seen food stuff on dishes whenever someone other than me does this. And it makes me anxious about the germs YOU CANNOT SEE) and yeah...i also wont touch surfaces that might also have a lot of germ traffic. It's gotten worse since the pandemic though.

47:47 i hope kendahl knows that this could also be autism. sarah is on one end of the spectrum, hypoempathy, but autism can also cause someone HYPERempathy, and make them extremely over aware of emotions and overly emotional and empathetic which is often overlooked in autistic diagnostic criteria since it is mostly girls who experience this ❤
Kendahl is so relatable. I have moral and cleanliness OCD as well and it's SO hard to balance it. Maybe the reusuable straw case can have an easy to clean compartment for when the straw is "dirty". But I am sure our OCD brains will come up with another way the straw has contaminated the case 😅

Hi Kendhal So, using copper bento boxes would be useful for reusing. I learned in college that bacteria does not linger in metals because it breaks down the peptidoglycan of the bacteria wall. So copper kills any bacteria. Sci-show also made a video called Bacteria vs. Metals. Hope this helps queen!

With the reusable straws, the way I clean the cleaning things is by bleaching them and soaking them in hot water (I leave them overnight, but obviously that could be triggering still) 🙌🏻🙌🏻
this is me admitting i have these same worries but you can also dry them with like a blowdryer or some type of air thing so the water isn’t sitting there

I don't have diagnosed ADHD or OCD but I relate to Kendal so much on the straws and bottles. I rarely drink after my bf and I use mugs rather than reusable travel cups. It freaks me out. Sometimes I won't even drink after myself if it has set for awhile.
this is something i also experience, and if you find it hindering things you do or your mental health greatly, i think what kendahl said is spot on, my advice is to basically force yourself to do “exposures”. for example, drink a cup of water that has sit out for a couple hours, or drink after another person (though i know that’s really hard) and you’ll realize nothing bad happens to you and it’ll make it a little easier. ❤ i’m proud of you and hope it gets better!!!
I recommend taking a few microbiology classes; for me understanding bacteria really helps me manage my fears about them!

Kendahl is so relatable with the ocd! I had a dirty roommate and I didn’t eat in that house at all. It made my ocd so severe. Now anytime I have anxiety or someone says something gross, I just cannot eat.
