That's a crazy difference between download and upload. Always hated that companies like Comcast and Time Warner Cable (Now Charter Spectrum) had bad down/up like that. I love that FiOS providers (Verizon and Frontier) have matching down/up. I take my 50/50 over 100/4 any day.
The vast majority of people don't need high upload. I am with you though where I would rather have 50/50. However, this issue stems from the infrastructure in place. Most people are easily taken in by Comcast and their commercials and other advertisements, the Comcast platform is based on the DOC3 Compression factor and is measured in Megabits not Megabytes. Comcast would make you believe that you are getting these huge speeds when in fact you are getting very little in Megabytes which is were it counts, for example this guy believes he is getting 700 Megabytes when in fact he is getting 700 Megabits this only amounts to about 87.5 Megabytes and his upload would only be 5.25 Megabytes . A simple way to check your true download speed would be to download a file larger then 500 Megabyte on a open file server some ware then you would see that the speed of the download would not surpass the 87.5 Megabytes. So when you see Comcast or any company bragging about download speeds you should do your home work first because they will say and do anything to sale there lies.
Comcast will be installing the Gigabit for me on Tuesday does anyone know if there modem also provides WIFI or will I need to connect a wifi router to there modem?
Pls do not give in and rent their modem it’s 13 dollars a month save some money by getting a cm1000v or if you have a home telephone get the cm1150v, you will need a router that has gigabit speed though too.
I have had Xfinity for over 6 years and while they may offer expensive gigabit speeds with horrible upload, they have deceiving billing practices and the worst customer service. I will switch the day another comparable internet provider is offered. But that’s great your happy with them. But that may quickly change when you experience things I have in the past 6 years.
recently self installed xb7 modem w/ 1000Mbps plan... it connected fine but house is old + wired longgggggg ago so im only gettin 35 down/30 up plus 17 hd channels aren't coming in that should be! Kind of annoying they don't send someone out initially. I just canceled with at&t and switched to the unlimited internet plan with xfinity. How is your internet working now?
@@JaMVengenz great! My gigabit internet is running FLAWLESSLY. 940Mbps down / 41 up lol. Everything was up/running by 8/18! So I think due to Covid, I think they wanted to limit in-house appts but you're sooo right about sending someone initaiily. You need an excellent router to mainten that speed it's not impossible. I have a netgear nighthawk x10 7200AD router and I get 900mbps in all areas of the house on channel 100 on 5ghz. There is a difference between the avg 100 router and a 500 router
jerry Robinson it’s coming through on coax with a 3.1 dos modem. All my devices are on WiFi and I never drop in signal. Using a WiFi analyzer I made sure I was on the least interrupted channels
TheSonyExperience thanks for the reply...I will try a netgear router, then upgrade my xb6t modem... ..im currently using 2 ..in 1 xb6t.... ..im getting 3 to 420 mbps... thorough whole home, testing on 5ghtz with galaxy 9....I want solid as possible
jerry Robinson yeah I am not a fan of the routers that they provide. Not only are they slow but they are broadcasting the xfinity WiFi at the same time. Even though they say it doesn’t take much bandwidth I have once rigged my whole house on xfinity WiFi when my service was down and I’m sure I ducked a lot bandwidth
TheSonyExperience you say they are broadcasting the Xfinity wifi.. ..im lost.?? So me upgrading my router to the x10 I should see some increase or difference
you might have an outage you should be getting an average of 940mb on the download make sure you are using a cat5e or cat6 and that you are using it on a ssd
An outage wouldn't cause slower speeds. It's more than likely noise....ingress that are cause the packet loss which is causing it not to run at it peak
paying $74 including taxes for At&t 1gigabit upload and 1gigabit download here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Wonder why upload speed is so bad on comcast compared to the super downloads.
Why don't you state the country you're in. The fact is most countries in Europe are much smaller than America so providing internet service across the country is not a challenge.
If it were about the uploads, then Comcast was a terrible choice. Verizon fios would have been a better choice especially for that price for the upload if it's available in your area.
Verizon FIOS stated a long time ago that they would not be doing any more expansions. They would only continue to serve their existing markets which is pretty much the Northeast like NY, NJ, Maryland, DC etc. Nothing more.
Why is the upload speed still so poor even with the expensive Gigabit plan? Especially in today with Web 2.0, UA-cam, Live streaming, and Cloud Storage upload speed is equally as important as download speed and 35Mbps feels like a speed number from the early 2000s. I've noticed it's always only Xfinity from Comcast that pulls this crap. They are also the crappy company that enforces a monthly datacap. That's why I'm moving to a neighborhood with Verizon Fios. Cheaper and faster and more symmetric speed internet with no datacap bull.
I still think AT&T fiber is still a better value. You get 1gig down and up for 100 bucks. I can care less about either of these companies but for now I'm with ATT, and I have no data cap. So there's that. I will say, I don't like that I have to use their modem ... I can't use my own.
wont fit they need 80 MHZ wide channels on the upload every node and tap needs to be changed on the entire system wont happen until full Duplex DOCSIS® 3.1 ua-cam.com/video/ys7Zhc0WMTU/v-deo.html
I got this plan too and im getting 112 down and 8 up its BS I already had 2 different tech guys come over to my house to "fix it" and they still can't. The first guy did fix it the first time for like a day. I was getting 900+ download and 41 upload all he did is change my modem to a different modem and it work for 1 day. The second guy change my modem again and im getting 112 down and 8 up. Like wtf they are trained to fix my issue.
Why do you keep mentioning having the "correct setup" but suggest horrible products? If you want the "correct setup" on a fiber line, ditch the Comcast modem and get an Edge router with ubiquity APs. Your not getting anywhere with the garbage Google APs or stock modem/router combo.
Dude Upload Speed is the same reason I just upgraded from Blast to Gigabit on Xfinity. Such a shame the only way to get the best upload is to get gigabit which upload @ 35-42mbps up is terrible compared to Fios. But it's all I can get in my area. Uploading videos to my gaming channel is a pain at my current 12mbps. Took almost 2 hours uploading a 4K video.
I like to hard code my ip and dns settings. 9.9.9.9 is a great dns that blocks malicious sites. Quad9: 9.9.9.9 OpenDNS: 208.67.222.123 Norton ConnectSafe (Malware, Phishing and Scam sites): 199.85.126.10 Comodo Secure: 8.26.56.26 Yandex Safe: 77.88.8.88 I stay high on Android
That is how it is regardless of provider, the further away the server is the more hops you will have to connect. That means there is more potential bottlenecks along the way as your relying on other ISPs to make that connection
i got this in the beginning of the year and speeds were crap..i called in soo many times and had sooo many techs to come out and to the pont where the boss came out to BUT couldnt find out why i was only getting 300Mbps...soooo i did some home work to find out that there are 2 XB6 modems 1 made by Arris and 1 made by Technicolor and that the Arris had TONS of bugs so when i request the Technicolor comcast act like i wants gold from them and they wouldnt send me one out nor did any of the stores have them so i said fuck it and return the modem....6 months later i get a really good package deal from comcast that has the GIG speeds with the plan so the tech is "installing" the modem i ask what model is that when he said "XB6-T" i also shit myself!! so me and the tech was talking and he said that comcast had a huge meeting about the XB6 modems and they found out about the nationwide issues they swap out all the XB6-A (Arris) with the XB6-T (Technicolor)....both modems look the same on the outside, only way to tell them apart is to look on the back...so with the XB6-T (Technicolor) hook up i now get speeds over 900Mbps!!! the plan i switch to was "SUPER TRIPLE PLAY"
far as I'm concerned, it's not gigabit if it has a shitty upload speed. This isn't even exclusive to gigabit, 150mb down and 5mb up? Stupidest crap I've ever heard.

Not to trash on you, but that computer is loading simply blockable ads. Especially with todays browsers. (ADBlock, etc.) You also have to tune your computer to this type of service to allow processing of the network traffic in much bigger packet sizes. This will put a minimum of 10% overhead on your CPU. But good lord on the poorly performing browser. Get that computer right... and re-review this. This isn't fair to Xfinity honestly.

Check your router. Comcast will match the bandwidth you pay for. If not call them up and have someone come out test it. Usually these things are user error, such as using cheap routers connected. Have you tried running it through a Nighthawk x10? Quite spectacular.
My previous setup was something similar but my house has a ton of walls. Even though it is a small house, WiFi is tougher than houses twice bigger, so I switched to mesh and works better.
Max Lee I am lucky here I guess. X10 is a beast . I pay for a 350mb service and regularly achieve 400 on WiFi.
Georgie Hogman do you think that will change anything ..im getting 300 to 400 at furthest point using xb6?? Should I upgrade router?
I have Verizon fios gig internet and I get about 940 download and 900 upload
gl hidden increase to cost will be coming ur way in a year or so, fios screw me over.
@@KwehKwehKweh yeah u gotta renew that plan I had that same issue with Xfinity lol
@@KwehKwehKweh yup you lose discounts on certain services but I think fios system glitched or something because it said that my $40 discount has no expiration date and one day fios called me saying that I will save more money if I lower my internet I'm thinking they want me to lower to take my $40 discount with no expiration date 😂😂
They do give you a crappy wireless router, I recommend getting Google WiFi.
Max Lee so they give you one or two devices?
Pls do not give in and rent their modem it’s 13 dollars a month save some money by getting a cm1000v or if you have a home telephone get the cm1150v, you will need a router that has gigabit speed though too.
Should have gone with Verizon fios which offers up to 1gbps uploads speeds too along with the download which offer the same speeds.
Comcast also offers fiber internet in some areas. Its absurdly expensive at $300/month w/ a 1 year contract but you get a symmetrical 3Gbps.
I have had Xfinity for over 6 years and while they may offer expensive gigabit speeds with horrible upload, they have deceiving billing practices and the worst customer service. I will switch the day another comparable internet provider is offered. But that’s great your happy with them. But that may quickly change when you experience things I have in the past 6 years.
how much does it costs? i live in daly city also
$120 per month
recently self installed xb7 modem w/ 1000Mbps plan...
it connected fine but house is old + wired longgggggg ago so im only gettin 35 down/30 up plus 17 hd channels aren't coming in that should be! The underground coax is bad/damaged and signsl is -12!!! its a miracle im getting anything so they gotta run new underground line. They start on the 18th. Least I have ''some" servicefor now tho lol
Kind of annoying they don't send someone out initially. I just canceled with at&t and switched to the unlimited internet plan with xfinity. How is your internet working now?
@@JaMVengenz great! My gigabit internet is running FLAWLESSLY. 940Mbps down / 41 up lol.
And to be fair, I can't knock em cuz they did ALOT of work including putting a rush on DIGSAFE STATE approval, hiring outside subcontracted crew to install 118 ft new line drop AND bury it from tap, boring under-through 2 back yards, plus my front yard, and under an expensive walkway, 90 min work on utility pole, conduit, minor drilling in/out, wall plates, etc. Ordered on 8/6. Everything was up/running by 8/18!
So I think due to Covid, I think they wanted to limit in-house appts but you're sooo right about sending someone initaiily.
Unlimited is definitely the way to go w/ Xfinity. IMO it shouldn't be a $30 extra tho as data is NOT FINITE! Luckily I live in the Northeast where the 1.2TB hard cap does not apply!
Sorry for this novel i typed but i think you'll be VERY PLEASED with xfinity compared to att! what speed tier? and did you get new X1 box w/ voice remote too or just internet only?
@@bretztheman I got the gigabyte plan too! The self installation kit arrived yesterday but as I presumed it couldn't activate. Someone is supposed to come today! I'm hoping they just have to run a new coax cable or something 😂. I'm glad it's all happening now, I'm a teacher and I couldn't be without internet. Last week I had to log onto my class using my phone!
@@JaMVengenz Oh for realz? NICE! THAT'S GREAT!
So they sent you anXB7 white gateway, coax cable, yellow ethernet cable right?
Was the tech able to run a new coax from the tap to your "teaching office"? lol to get u up n running?
You're gonna love it tho! Soooooo fast. And since you're a teacher, bandwith is key!
PS: although i'm currently mad @ comcast atm for making their 1.2TB data hard cap per month....a national policy starting 1/1/2021 !! 13 Northeast states including MA where I am....was always immune from the data cap!! ugh not no more tho :(
what's the actual price after the 12 months?
140.00
@@themagnificentcaptianwootw9141 thanks :D
Nice I'm thinking off doing it, but my provider is Cox but they do have it but it's less than that price.
I get 350 on my phone obv because wireless but I can’t hit over 200mb with my cat6 plugged into my Xbox. Wtf is this
would tbis be good for gaming on pc?
its overkill for gaming, gaming only needs 25mbps dedicated to it.
Can you do a Huawei p20 pro review?
Upload on att fiber is 3 digits all the time. How is it better....
It depends on the the three digits you are getting....
You need an excellent router to mainten that speed it's not impossible. I have a netgear nighthawk x10 7200AD router and I get 900mbps in all areas of the house on channel 100 on 5ghz. There is a difference between the avg 100 router and a 500 router
TheSonyExperience is that with comcast coaxial service,?? Wifi or ethernet??
jerry Robinson it’s coming through on coax with a 3.1 dos modem.
I get exactly the same speed from ethernet or wireless
And we have a gig promo for $75 with cable in Houston
you might have an outage you should be getting an average of 940mb on the download make sure you are using a cat5e or cat6 and that you are using it on a ssd
We don't really have fast uploads unless u go commercial and pay $500+.
Due to 4 QAMs on the Upload, limitations on that since the frequencies are on the low end and are susceptible to interference from outside sources.
MonkiJuan yes cable has its limits but they do have 2gbps pro service up n down.
Max Lee Yeah I know, unless you want to pay for the construction portion I would just stick with the gigabit for now.
Max Lee BTW good that you got the Technicolor XB6
The x1 gig pro is for business accounts only atm. Trust me im a comcast rep. Soon it will be available for residential in the future.
Got 1gb/s download 500mb/s upload for 12 euros. For the last 6 years. Cheers
Yeah most of europe have better internet. Home internet is worst in amurica.
That is so ironic. USA is supposed to have the best tech, but....
Why don't you state the country you're in. The fact is most countries in Europe are much smaller than America so providing internet service across the country is not a challenge.
Jeffrey Botts Sweden has the best internet on the planet. They have 7.5 Gbps in Sweden at the moment and they’re currently working on 9 gbps
If it were about the uploads, then Comcast was a terrible choice. Verizon fios would have been a better choice especially for that price for the upload if it's available in your area.
Yeah i wish fios was available, been checking everyday for last 8 years here. Fios is a joke since it is not available everywhere.
Verizon FIOS stated a long time ago that they would not be doing any more expansions. They would only continue to serve their existing markets which is pretty much the Northeast like NY, NJ, Maryland, DC etc. Nothing more.
Sir you need TCP OPTIMIZER AND GO WATCH HOW TO SETUP ON UA-cam you’ll get lower ping and faster speed and Adguard chrome browser extension
Thanks for this!
XB6 is disappointing. Just signed up and never reached close to Gigabit. You really need to go to XB7. It works better with Wireless Devices.
Weird I get 600/700 on WiFi on this plan but then again I have a ASUS ac5300.
You can get the most out of your connection by buying a good desktop computer and connecting it to your router using Category 6 or 6a Ethernet cable.
You are on coaxial gigabyte not an actual dedicated hence your bad upload speed and your low price.
uploads are running on 3.0 mode not in 3.1 mode like downloads are. 3.1 upstream requires cable network rebuild.
John Chambers What do u mean by Cable network rebuild?
comcast is the best. jus wish they had s wireless internet plan
My optic fiber internet gets me +80 mbps upload.
Hey, are you listening AT&T?
My son has at&t at his moms house. He gets 372 mbps upload speeds.
@@jdelapaz14 I can't belive that I am using 2ms upload
@@sputnikvostok664 Its true, I only get 40 to 50 mbps uploads at my house. At hers they get over 300 though.
It’s stupid why can’t they give us 1 Gig upload or at least 100 upload
wont fit they need 80 MHZ wide channels on the upload every node and tap needs to be changed on the entire system wont happen until full Duplex DOCSIS® 3.1 ua-cam.com/video/ys7Zhc0WMTU/v-deo.html
What is your data cap?
No data cap on gigabit.
There is still a 1TB cap on gigabit unless you are in one of the few states that doesn't allow datacaps at all.
I'm in Illinois and it's no cap on gigabit
Sup Mister Lee and everyone
Good review thank you
I got this plan too and im getting 112 down and 8 up its BS I already had 2 different tech guys come over to my house to "fix it" and they still can't. The first guy did fix it the first time for like a day. I was getting 900+ download and 41 upload all he did is change my modem to a different modem and it work for 1 day. The second guy change my modem again and im getting 112 down and 8 up. Like wtf they are trained to fix my issue.
BRUH IMA BE ABLE TO RUN 9 PING WHILE PLAYING GAMES AND 700+ MB
Why do you keep mentioning having the "correct setup" but suggest horrible products? If you want the "correct setup" on a fiber line, ditch the Comcast modem and get an Edge router with ubiquity APs. Your not getting anywhere with the garbage Google APs or stock modem/router combo.
Yay!
Took almost 2 hours uploading a 4K video.
wow. In my home I can get only up to 100mb/s Germany have to upgrade this shit
I like to hard code my ip and dns settings. 9.9.9.9 is a great dns that blocks malicious sites. Quad9: 9.9.9.9
OpenDNS: 208.67.222.123
Norton ConnectSafe (Malware, Phishing and Scam sites): 199.85.126.10
Comodo Secure: 8.26.56.26
Yandex Safe: 77.88.8.88
I stay high on Android
Noice, i use google dns 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 fastest dns. Also there is dns caching for linux system if u use that less than 1ms for dns pings.
I like the speeds from your S9+. 300mbps is great. Keep up with the great videos.
try nonlocal server like europe or asia, gigabit only on local servers xD
Yeah unfortunately many of california is like this still, this is best it gets for many including myself. California is about 10 years ahead of world in tech yet internet is about 10 years behind.
upload so bad lol
Flatty That's the downside of Cable Internet
Basil Minhas looks like downside of US internet
Flatty Even in Canada it's like that but Fiber internet is 1,000 Mbps upload
40 mbps isn’t bad at all. You could stream at 8k and be fine lol. I have .7 mbps upload so be grateful lmao
Speed test lie to me
Not to trash on you, but that computer is loading simply blockable ads.
I have the Comcast triple play - TV, internet, phone. The internet is horrible and so is customer service - I'm paying for 60 Mb internet but on the weekend it's only 6 Mb.
Check your router. Comcast will match the bandwidth you pay for. If not call them up and have someone come out test it. Usually these things are user error, such as using cheap routers connected. Also using WiFi you will lose more bandwidth. Always test with an Ethernet line straight from the cable modem first
@@BIGMACMCDONALDLEE : Router is owned by Comcast, installed last year, I rent it- my rate just went up 20%. No WiFi, LAN cable. Comcast just has a lousy network.
@@alicecooper9472 yes get rid of the router or get another one. I ALWAYS install a 3rd party router as performance is 5 times better. If your router also is the cable modem, you can still use it as cable modem and turn off router feature then connect a good router.
lol this is such a shitty service. I get 1GB symmetrical on FiOS. Also...buying gigabit on comcast MOCA for UPLOAD is an instant fail.
I have centurylink DSL and get 6ms ping
