@@DamiLeeArch I have seen this video over 10 times this past week. I'm speechless.......... The quality of your video is through the roof 😂 Your thought process is so inspiring and the project itself is just woww. please keep doing these videos🤩🤩🤩
Dear Dami Lee and everyone responsible for producing this video, Thank you so much for making this video. This was such an absolutely amazing and thought provoking experience. Your architecture has always inspired me in a general sense, but this takes things to an entirely different level of thinking and of feeling. Cinematically it was a beautiful video. The monologue describing the reasoning and visualizations behind the concept were truly elucidating and quite clear. How this concept plays with the fundamental nature of our reality was such an interesting perception and I cannot tell you how much this has inspired me in my current project. Thank you.
My favourite moment of the video was you explaining the fabric-concrete. It was beautiful visual storytelling that not only let me visualize the texture, but really feel it. This video is a masterclass in visual storytelling and editing, and the home is beautiful. 🙌

I LOVED this concept. Someday I want to live in a house that is both a warm welcoming home, but also kind of a art statement. Were each cm² was designed with a specific higher purpose in mind. Like the labyrinth or the entranceway or the sundial aspect of this one. Bedrooms that feel like a sanctuary to sleep, where trying to do anything but sleep (and that other thing) feels completely out of place. An office that let's you work but reminds you of why you work and when it's time to rest. And doing all this not like a commander, demanding obedience, or through fear. But as a lovely, gentle and kind, invisible hand remining you to be present.
Wow, the original site seemed challenging with the amount of protected trees, but you integrated the house beautifully into the natural landscape. I also loved the way you explained the movement of light throughout the house. The refraction from the water and the shadows cast by the roof really connect the natural elements throughout the entire project.
I absolutely love these videos, they're so unbelievably high quality and show a way of life that I'm not exposed to at all. It makes me realize the world could be beautiful
I can't stop thinking about "maybe this movement(light) can even guide activity in the house". I don't think I will be able to look at another space without considering light in this way. Natural light is so important in bringing spaces to life, but it goes so much deeper than just more or less direct sunlight. It's not just there to illuminate a room, but to shape and move it. That phrase will be stuck in my head for a while. Thanks for this serene video and all your hard work!
Something I want to tell you is how you captured that feeling of pause. I’ve lived in our farm in the Philippines by the mountains and every noon, this is how it feels like. Just the leaves dancing through the wind while inside our breezy and open house, the ceiling fan is the only noise. The sun’s rays are reflecting from a mirror or the window. I live in Canada now and how I miss this feeling of slowing down and living life so much. Thank you for sharing your creativity in the world. 💖
Every time I think your videos can't get any better, there you go. This is amazing. I feel like I have learned more from you than from my professors. And I'm not even gonna talk about inspiration.
You mentioned "in-between-moments" which reminded me of the work of photographer Gregory Crewdson, who made whole series based on that concept, albeit with a more ominous setting rather than tranquil. I find it fascinating and exhilarating how much thought and effort you put into the design. It requires quite the perspicacious mindset. Looking forward to seeing how this project continues!
Your videos are a reminder that there is beauty in allowing time for myself, in watching the days go by. At least to me that is. Thanks for everything you do 😇

These video updates, the details, on your first project is amazing. I love it. It goes to show how much work gets into it. I know it will be a long time til we see it finished but I can’t wait.
I love this line: “…the long meandering path where you have the opportunity to contemplate your life without your right limb, as the 12 grocery bags slowly cut off circulation, and dig into your arteries. Only to find yourself lost, and found and lost again. Finally you rest your head on some moss. The blood dripping from your fingertips feels warm and soft, likee the concrete wall you really just hit your head on. It is warm and comforting, from the loss of blood and dehydration. Not only has time slowed, but for you, time has stopped, infinitely…and forever” ❤❤❤
I bloody love hill houses and your design is amazing. Hillside houses always have a feeling of having your own pocket world where nobody else can get to.
This is almost poetic as it is beautiful. Thank you for expanding my mindset when it comes to the concept of time very few architects have embraced. It’s so funny how people used to spend a whole day doing laundry by hand, and now we have machines that do it for us but we still have no time. Taking the time in those moments of pause are to me such a quality existence. I couldn’t imagine even having that headache of a frustrating job just to come home to four walls that do nothing for you. I’m still designing my future home, but now I will inculcate these concepts. Time is pieces of our lives that we should not waste.
This video gave me some serious goosebumps. The video itself was well crafted. Using architecture to tap into, and feel passage of time. It felt like you brought a small part of cosmos into the home
I love how each of the aspect whether it's the labyrinth or use of refraction from water or the sun dial, it is introduced specifically to achieve some purpose. But among all the these aspects my favorite part about this was the labyrinth, the path to reach the entrance, the feeling of being lost and then found, I just love it. Great work, Dami.🙌
Your various transitions…where you speak to us from let’s say…top of the stairs…to sitting on the stairs..etc… impart a completely seamless auditory continuity that must have taken a special level of effort to create so successfully.
It's hard to stick to one specific aspect of the design. The concept that embraces the project as a whole is charming. The house, through textures, light, sounds and paths, invites us to observe, pause, be present and all of this, I believe, brings us closer to the essence of life. I feel very happy and motivated by the possibility of being able to follow and learn from your design process. Thanks, Dami and team :)
This. This is what we need more of in our vastly expanding and “busy” urban world. Homes where we can reconnect with ourselves and nature, and disconnect from the outside and things that clutter our minds and life.
You have such passion for design & architecture and also you has good intelligence of your field(architect) & your understanding of every details is amazing.
I find the concept of time and its perception in the design really thought provoking. Curiosity and contemplation seem to play a huge role in evoking the feeling of time being slowed down and I truly admire the way you have incorporated this into your design. The complexity of the labyrinthine garden path or the placement of the pools, allowing for sunlight to interact with water, seems almost ethereal. There are so many aspects of this house (and presentation) that I find genuinely inspiring. Great video! I'm excited to see how it progresses.
I normally don't like this modern architectural style, but this! Working with the perception of time and the interactive environment that change throughout the day, I love the concept :D Thanks for sharing :D
My favorite part of this video is the part about water reflection concretized the passing of time. It starts from 7:50 and goes till 8:32. The music, the quotes , the imagery; everything radiated creative brilliance. The whole video was great, as always, but that part really resonated within me.
To be honest, the sound of rain, a nice good breeze or the sensation of living by the sea are my key details to slow down time. This concept that you been able to think around is just amazing, can't wait to see how it ends up to be.
Wow!! Am very amazed!! I never tot sunlight and water could be used to create such a beautiful spectrum of mesmurising light features on walls!! And the brilliant ideal of the concrete soft wall!! So so outstanding!! Am definitely going to try it out soon!!😅
I don't think this would be the house for me, but I'm grateful to know that folks are out there creating beautiful, thoughtful things. Thank you for sharing this.
Like so many other amazing pieces of architecture, its incredible. I just wish regular people had more access to beautiful architecture. For the most part it seems to be reserved for a very lucky few.
I'm glad you got to work on something like this as opposed to the more common low cost, easy to approve, ruthlessly efficient, and all to common staple designs.
As a co-captain of the UBC Concrete Canoe design team, your detailed explanation of your experience of the special concrete at 5:51 resonated with me. Also your exploration of the design through all the mediums of site plans, 3d CAD models, physical models, and a site visit focused your points from perfect perspectives.
I love how you get a sense of an architect as both a scientist and an artist here. You're not just creating something based on its structural and mathematical principles but on so many creative and even spiritual levels. This is really beautiful and I'm sharing it with anyone who wants something thought-provoking, calming and moving at once. Thank you for sharing.
The design and concept integrated to this video is sooo immersive. I’m beyond excited to see it come to life. CREDITS To the whole team. You guys are true innovators on this field. ✨
The flow of the home is beautiful with the light rays and the reflection of water. The only reservation I have is the means of getting to the home. I looked up the site on Google maps and can see that there is a way to get to the property from a road above. You did mention that in the video and "Yes" Orinda has a protective tree ordinance in place. But there is a clause that trees can be relocated on the property. Putting a tram from the bottom would be sketchy since the terrain is steep and the ground is loose. It is a a definitely a challenge but the home would benefit with a safe and practical means of entry.
Damilee, my son and I found your channel a couple of years ago and have followed your journey to going out on your own. The production quality on this video is outstanding and so happy you found Raffaele. You have assembled a good team to make your channel so inspiring. We look forward to many more videos. This one was beautiful, inspiring and thought provoking. Great presentation!!
Such a beautiful piece of art. Hope to see more! If anyone is interested, I want to give my two cents from a Chinese feng shui perspective as it's part of our culture when designing indoor spaces. An entrance to a living space should never directly reduce in elevation followed by a flow outward. In this case, we have built up a natural flow of "chi" as we wrap around the garden with pathways leading up to the entrance of the house, accompanied by two bodies of water which balances the sun's energy as it showers the house. But once stepping inside, the flow of "shui" (water) or "chi" is led down the stairs like a flash flood. With nothing to hold it in place, it is poured outward through the large window panes directly across the entrance. In simple terms, money may come in, but it is led out immediately. Can be fixed by blocking the immediate view to the outside when stepping inside the house with blinds or a screen.
Time has its separate existence in the long fall from cause to effect. In antiquity until today our fascination has been with the dividing of time into ever-shrinking increments. In your natural restriction of the speed of movement into and inside the structure, I think you have succeeded in your design goal to invite the guest or dweller to savor the space, and by extension the events within it. Impressive...well done! Love your channel and your work!
Greetings from Texas! I found you while researching a concept that was mentioned in an article I was reading. As a social psychologist, I have a fascination with architecture and its impact in our psyche. Your videos and social media comments. are a source of enrichment Besides the content, I also appreciate the care in the production of the videos, including the music. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely a “wow!” factor throughout the video. I enjoy watching the process from beginning to end on any sort of project and I remember watching your video on your site visit to the hillside. I could go on and on on how your attention to detail within the video is amazing, but what really interested me is how far you’ve come along with this project and also showing us your design process and inspirations which help you implement those ideas into your own. As many have said, props to you and the team. Can’t wait to see more!
when i am working, i am also checking the time asking myself out loud. observing myself, i think i am just thinking what i still must do and prioritizing what i need to.
It's exceptional to see how much thought you are putting into the design, it's not just: " I bet this would look interesting and comfortable " it's much more... philosophical
I love that you're taking us along with you and diving deep into the concepts of each piece of this project. Excited to see the end product! My favorite concept is the reflective water theories. A hidden world is so cool.
I’m studying architecture, still at the beginning of the course, but I was scared of not finding true inspiration and motivation to make unique designs. Everything looked the same, boring and lifeless. But your video and design showed me true care and creativity for building and creating space, so thank you.
You guys are creating beautiful storytelling, and amazingly put together sensory videos. I’m learning so much about the thought process of architecture but then take it a step further to include concepts like time. Just great work. I’m looking forward to watch more of these !
This would be a great house for a horror movie. Just the hill lift alone is an interesting tension builder. Someone needs to get back to the house quickly, lives are on the line but they have to ride this slow, scenic, exposed railcar.
Wow! I’m an architect in CA and really have been enjoying watching your process. I’m currently working on a couple of hillside jobs right now so I appreciate the struggle and opportunities these type of projects present. Really love the transitions and the concept of tracking the sun. Looking forward to the next video!!
I love the concept of time it is something that is present in my work as well. I’m not an architect but I am a designer. I saw this on my feed saved it for later, UA-cam actually offered it to me three times more over, but it wasn’t the time yet. Now was the time. My expectations were high with the thumbnail and title, you made what I dreamt and wished for you would. And i am just grateful. This is what it is to make. This is what it is to work out and explore an idea. And this is what it is to take us on a journey and explaining the conception. I’m just thankful you (are) made (/making) perfection.
This video is so... inspiring! I love the concepts it's about, such as how quality of an experience shapes our perception of time in that moment, the creative ways of using water to light the relaxation room and designing the spaces of the house around the changing light and shade positions! Also the commentary is brilliant, I like how sometimes it sounds so poetic. We can really hear and see your passion towards what you create! I'm happy that I discovered your channel😌
How did I not find this channel sooner?? I'm fascinated by the whole design process and love the depth of thought that goes into every decision about the house. I particularly like that, despite sight being the 'loudest' of our senses, the way in which one experiences the space through their other senses is also carefully considered. PS: While the house slows down time, the visuals/editing of this video sure did the opposite! Presenting 15min of content in a way that feels like only 5 is an art in and of itself. Cheers! 🕓
Thank you Dami for being such an inspirational architect. The thoughts that guided you through the designing process are truly original. I especially liked how you connected your initial ideas for the placement of the house and the problem that sunlight seemed to cause into the main focus of the building. The concept was beautiful and I can't wait to see the progress made on this project in the future!
Oh! Quick note: Bullwhips are a tool moreso than they are a weapon. Although if someone is holed up behind a bar with a pistol, a bullwhip is an effective way to arch the angle of attack. #businesstips The Cincinnati Reds are a ball team in Cincinnati Ohio. They play American baseball.
I agree with everything in this statement. It's interesting that the comment escalated to some sort of life threatening occurrence inside a tavern, but this author's accurate description of what may or may not occur in such an event seems viably possible given certain conditions. The statements about baseball seem out of context, but they are simply statements. Each one appears to be accurate and non-threatening. Baseball is a sport. This person would appear to be representing themselves as potentially being a fan of sports, given certain conditions.
@BygoneBuffalo I'm in agreement with this statement as well. Also, I would like to add that I believe there may be additional humor attached to this particular comment. My reason for making that statement is the fact that the image that I'm seeing as the thumbnail is an image of Harrison Ford (American actor) in a brown hat walking through what appear to be cobwebs (perhaps produced by an arachnid of some kind). This is what appears to me to be in reference to the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. In that film, the lead character (who is portrayed by American actor Harrison Ford at the time of the filming) does in fact brandish a bullwhip in multiple scenes throughout the film.
I love how you took making a home to a whole other level. The way you planned the journey from down the hill, all the way up, and into the home was amazing! And thing that you said about pausing is very true and I enjoy those moments. I love your vids❤️
Dami has a way about her presentation that is so relaxed and thoughtful, like the UA-cam content of old, and I really miss it. Appreciate your content, Dami!
What an amazing project. I'm blown away by your skillset here, as always so professional. If I ever had the money, I'd try to hire you to design my house. Thank you for doing such a good job 🙏💐
One of the best visions. Watching this video makes me want to become an architect again. I can tell you are passionate about architecture and designing beautiful buildings. Definitely will look at your designs if I build a new home one day.
Wonderful video. Another torpedo shot to hurry sickness lands. Beautiful architectural concept; I really like the pause area before entering where you separate the outside from the inside. Right now I'm using a brass Victorian era pedestal table with a silver eagle on it and the entirety of my kitchen island for that function. I may try to to integrate something similar using scrap wood and an old cedar chest. Probably not, though. 🙃
Your story telling is both inspirational and brings hope, I feel lost in time when I watch your videos. I set a timer when I’m on social media, 30 minutes a day, only Monday thru Friday, so I don’t get lost in the abyss of scrolling. Keep going, Keep inspiring people. WB🤙🏽⚡️
I loves how you integrated the 'refraxation room' into the house via steps. It really lends to the feeling that you're on a hill (while also being in a separate concept of time as you mentioned). The idea of being connected to the physical world around you while being disconnected from the construct of time just seems really cool to me. It gives a lightness to the design I can't quite describe. This video is honestly one of your best, PLEASE keep making more 🙌. @theatharb
I think making the house blend more with it's environment would be excellent, you could do that by adding grass rooftops and falling plants all around the house to contrast the green floors more.
Instead of catching up on social media - do a wall sit every time you have time - it feels like time slows to a painful crawl and then you'll wish you never had free time for the rest of your life.
I'm torn about this project: it's a beautiful house, in a beautiful location. I also get the impression that there really is a philosophy behind it, if not some poetry. Far too often, when it comes to architecture, I have the impression that the architects only want to express their ego and then invent post facto explanations for it. It is definitely a house I would enjoy living in. On the other hand, it is a very expensive project that only a few very privileged people can afford, and in a very isolated location. In times of housing crises, I see that as a minus. The residents will have to rely on one or more cars for the smallest errand, which is not very good for the environment. The heart says yes, the mind says no.
The production value is through the roof on this one. Bravo.
Thank you 😁

Amazing video!
I love the holistic viewpoint on architecture. It really reminds me of ancient Greek and Japanese Architecture.
I know why I subscribed to your channel, this was simply brilliant! Looking for more updates and projects like this one. Keep it up!
There is few things as amazing, as seeing and listening to someone truly passionate about what they do.
I know nothing about architecture but I feel like this project deserves some kind of award.
Thanks for the update. It’s not easy to share concepts with a studio let alone the entire world.
Great work.
Lmao u just reminded me of the lift from until dawn
Wow! I’m an architect in CA and really have been enjoying watching your process. I’m currently working on a couple of hillside jobs right now so I appreciate the struggle and opportunities these type of projects present. Really love the transitions and the concept of tracking the sun. Looking forward to the next video!!
Architecture is truly beautiful…small moments like these reminds me why I chose this major
Thank you 🙏
This would be a dream to work on and do the electrical for. It's really great stuff. I wish more architects designed houses like this.
Just amazing. You're ideas and enthusiasm is infectious.
Cheers! 🕓
WOW , you got a WOW Magic from the shadow. I thought this is the best presentation that I ever heard in at last year 2023.
This is super deep and majestic. I admire the passion, it's like you portray something out of this world. The house is perfectly crafted.
0:44 the clock is just stunning 😲
I'm an architecture student and I have learned a lot from you, there are not enough words to thank you💙
Oh wow that storytelling is insane. Definitely resembles architects as history creators not simple house builders.
I could almost feel the grass and hear the wind in the trees 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Oh! Quick note: Bullwhips are a tool moreso than they are a weapon. Although if someone is
holed up behind a bar with a pistol, a bullwhip is an effective way to arch the angle of attack.
I love your videos. The production is a masterpiece keep it coming. 👍👏
Thank you!! 😊
The idea of making the house show the transition of time with sunlight completely blew my mind, your ideas are incredible!!!
can’t thank you and everyone behind these works enough for everything spent on wonderful productions like this, thoroughly inspired every time!
@theatharb
This project reminds me of the philosophy of slow-movement, it is quite an architectural representation of that idea. love it!
I did research around the slow movement for my thesis so you’re connecting the dots!!
I loved this SO MUCH!! Masterclass in presenting such an incredible, well thought-out project! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
I am so amazed! One of my dream is to live in a place with such connection with wind, water, light and sky! Congrats on your project.
I think making the house blend more with it's environment would be excellent, you could do that by adding grass rooftops and falling plants all around the house to contrast the green floors more.
Grass rooftops are incredibly thick, heavy and expensive, requiring dedicated drainage systems. Not feasible for this house
It´s so cool to watch and hear your Thoughts, while your projects and some intersessting themes for our humanity !!
Instead of catching up on social media - do a wall sit every time you have time - it feels like time slows to a painful crawl and then you'll wish you never had free time for the rest of your life.
This design is absolutely brilliant, I’m just glad I’m not part of the moving crew for this one.
architecture mommy😳
I really liked how you walked through the whole design process/conceptualization for this project. This will truly be a sacred space.
I almost cried when viewing your art with your commentary explaining it.
