- Club Brugge is undoubtedly one of the biggest football brands in the Benelux nowadays. The new stadium of the 17-time Belgian champions is to be built near the current venue on the site of the Olympia complex. The battle to build a successor to Jan Breydel Stadion has been going on for over 15 years, with fans constantly complaining, and the project cannot be implemented.
Despite the pandemic, however, it was possible to select a consortium of contractors and an architectural concept that met the infrastructural and financial expectations. In October 2021, the government of Flanders gave the green light and issued an environmental permit for the construction of a new facility in Bruges. The stadium is expected to hold over 40,000 seats, making it the second largest stadium in the country, after National Stadium in Brussels.

Als KVK supporter hoop ik dat dit effectief gebouwd wordt en dat er nog andere clubs volgen want het is echt wel nodig. Enige twijfel bij mij is als 40K zitjes niet overdreven is, Jan Breydel seizoen 23/24 gemiddeld 21K toeschouwers... En als je weet dat Antwerp maar voor 23K plaatsen gaat inclusief hun nieuwste nog te bouwen tribune. Zal dit wel gevuld raken?? Overbouwen is ook een risico.

Laatste twee jaar zeker wat minder maar 4/6 jaar kampioen is toch wel iets om nogal tevreden over te zijn ;)
