Describes me 100 percent. I've had multiple long term symptoms that were not explained medically other than so called central sensizitation. All my symptoms disappeared once I accepted that stress was the culprit but unfortunately as one long term symptom goes another takes its place.
The way to stop that is to immediately look at the new symptoms the same way that you looked at the old symptom. With a lack of concern or fear. KNOW it's just TMS/Perceived Danger showing up a different way. Keep doing that for new symptoms. Remain not afraid. This is the way to recover.
Yes...saw a webinar from Mayo Clinic, on Central sensitization...seems like med-speak for TMS/PPD/mind body. I feel pain is the way my body encodes emotions...it's an encrypted language that expresses whatever emotions I learned needed to stay concealed. They find a way to express themselves. Pain is their voice if I don't decrypt that message and give it a voice.
Great explanation. Thank you for sharing your insight. And yes, that was my conclusion too. It's basically TMS. Sarno was decades ahead of the Mayo Clinic. :-)
I was just diagnosed today at the Mayo clinic with CSS. Im completely devastated. I can't walk 10 min without every muscle iny legs hurting and going numb and taking days to rebound. It feels life as I omce knew it is over. The ringing of the ears. The muscles wasting awa .and not one shred of evadence by blood work or EMT to show anything is wrong.
Really helpful. I appreciate your use of the word "challenge" vs. "problem" and that digging too much for the sources of our symptoms can in itself be stress inducing. We are where we are now with a "hypervigilant" nervous system. That's useful-enough information, and the remedy is to practice calmness--to calmly practice calmness: the old, grim tools to achieve peace just don't work; seems obvious, but I find that's not always so when old habits are deeply entrenched. This is truly both an education and a practice.
As you know - I'm not a huge fan of digging for the "why I hurt". Even if we can find the source, finding it doesn't settle down the brain and hyper-vigilant nervous system.
Ty. Almost 4 years of severe pain. Now it’s time to calm things down after huge stressor. Or is this pain post Covid sequelae? I just know I can’t take it much longer.
Thank you Dan. I got Central Sensitization after healing from Covid. I believe Long Covid =Central Sensitisation. I healed for 90% now with the help of you and others about that theme. And yes i had a perfectionist as mother and she was overworried. So many lessons learned.
Yes, the fear surrounding Covid can absolutely cause the brain and the nervous system to amplify. The recent video "Let's See What Happens" maps out my suggestions. ua-cam.com/video/aKhxl_TLjuI/v-deo.html
RB, I think it is recognised here. My NHS physio used the term (along with some scary phrases like telling me i had "disc issues" etc which freaked me out.) Dan is right, finding the calm is the start of recovery. I'm in his fb group and would highly recommend. And Dan, thank you, your words and videos are brilliant, simple but powerful messages. 🤗
Whether or not they recognize this doesn't matter. Central sensitization is basically TMS. TMS recovery is usually self directed and done outside of mainstream medicine. This is why I teach these concepts every day. You can recover with just the concepts I share. Don't wait for medical doctors to catch up to what you already know. Consider my course and group coaching if you'd like to fast track your recovery. PainFreeYou.com/join
I can often understand why the pain is coming up and the emotions which are probably causing the pain but are you saying that we don’t need to feel that pain to stop the pain?
My recommendations are to feel whatever emotions are occurring right now. I'm not a big fan of going back in time searching for old experiences and associated emotions. But yes, feeling our current emotions is very useful in teaching ourselves that emotions are safe.
Toss out their medical label and prognosis. It's basically TMS. AND......it's reversible. The key concepts I believe that can help TMS and what the Mayo Clinic call central sensitization are in this video. ua-cam.com/video/aKhxl_TLjuI/v-deo.html
No. Mainstream medicine says there is no cure for lots of TMS symptoms. If the brain and nervous system can learn to be hyper sensitive, it can learn to calm down. CS is basically TMS. It's reversible.
Well, they seem to have a label for a highly sensitive nervous system, but I don't see much evidence that they know what to do about it. But we do. ;-)

I wonder if the UK recognise this

Exact diagnosis I was given by The Mayo Clinic :(.

Read up on CS and the consensus is that it’s irreversible. Do you think that’s true?
