    Can't wait to see the progression. Will there be an episode related to engine break in? I think a lot of us are fascinated with the idea of a big plane - big engine combo, but also a little overwhelmed. It would be cool to demystify that a bit. Love your vids. Keep up the great work!

      I will definitely keep that in mind when I get to the engine install portion of the build.

    I was thinking radial, just didn't know which you would pick. It's gonna sound great.

    I got the China Lake model. It's been a super build. Yes I'm using electric retracts lol. Im waiting for the semi-scale mufflers so I can install the Stinger 40cc. Thomas from Legend hobby has been awesome from the very beginning. Becareful the manual is missing some data for the gear doors. Pay a lot of attention to the wooden canopy frames. However I can bet it will be a hell of a flyer. Best wishes Sir.

    Love pneumatic gear!! Never had a problem in over 30 years. If Set-up is correct, they are bullet proof, just as Chris said!. Nice T-28 Trainer Chris. And that Saito, a man after my own heart! I still love and fly 4-strokes almost exclusively besides all my smaller electric stuff and a few scale electric DF's.

    I mean... the plane itself is gorgeous, but that shiny 3 banger is downright Beautiful! My God, what a looker. You'll enjoy the sh1t outta that build, man.
    I'll bet the maiden is gonna bring back those old school butterflies, like the 1st time you picked up the sticks and sent one of your babies down the runway and up in the air.
    I pray this one stays up there until YOU'RE ready to gently bring her in... not when gravity is ready to bring her down 😊

    As a builder of three 3️⃣ Pica T-28s that led to building a super scale Byron 100” T-28 that was powered by a custom twin 78cc on alcohol with scale exhaust system. OK I was anal. I too have used Sierra gear many times and also used the main air brakes for the big T-28 . You will be amazed how easy it will fly. In my experience and opinion , the T-28 is probably the best flying war bird that you can own. I will enjoy watching your build and flying of this model. Good luck!

    Wow Chris.. super excited to see this whole build series.. I ❤❤❤❤ T-28s in the Red Livery.. do I dare ask you how much for the T-28 and all the upgraded parts (landing gear, etc). I mean if the motor alone is almost $1,300.. I can’t imagine what the total $$$$ will be. You’re a braver man than I sir! Even if I built one.. I’d never want to fly it for fear of going into the ground nose first.. 😢

    I have the same engine on my Giant TF P47, such a sweet sound, take your time tuning it, its fussier than a singe or twin cylinder. So, is the covering like ultracote or something? Or is it that printed on stuff? If the wings came off outside of the gear, I would buy one. Transporting planes without gear down is a PITA.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  5 місяців тому +1

      The material is recover, not the silkscreened stuff. I hear you on the transport. That what I love about the Skyraider. Was hoping they were going to do the same here, but I do t think they wanted to split the flap into two segments.

    Hi Chris, I just found this plane at Legend Hobbies today... concluded the Saito FG-60 would be ideal.. and found your video🙂 Did you, by any chance, consider the ARC version so you could do your own scale finish? It seems every film covered warbird ends up on the flight line with wrinkles 😞

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  4 місяці тому +1

      I did consider the ARC, but went this direction so I could get it in the air quicker. 😆. But yeah, the oracover will sag in the sun unfortunately.

    Beautiful kit, personally I prefer electric retracts, saves me from having to carry (and then use :) ) a bike pump. The Saito should sound great!
    Just an observation, (and you can all call me a Commy, Pinko, Lefty Greeny or something) that's aimed not just at this manufacturer but most of them - can you please look at a non plastic method of protecting your kits in transit? Crumpled brown paper and corrugated will do the job, is far more environmentally friendly and can be reused in your workshop for patterns etc.
    Anyhow, old man rant over, you've earned yourself a new subscriber - I have to see how this one turns out :)
