Nice Chris!! Can't wait to follow along as you get this beast put together my friend!
Thanks my friend!
Can't wait to see the progression. Will there be an episode related to engine break in? I think a lot of us are fascinated with the idea of a big plane - big engine combo, but also a little overwhelmed. It would be cool to demystify that a bit. Love your vids. Keep up the great work!
I will definitely keep that in mind when I get to the engine install portion of the build.
Big ARF. Woof.
I was thinking radial, just didn't know which you would pick. It's gonna sound great.
My Sierra Giant Scale Bearcat gear are works of art. They do great work!
I look forward to the build, I want to hear that motor run. This might be a future plane for me.
I got the China Lake model. It's been a super build. Yes I'm using electric retracts lol. Im waiting for the semi-scale mufflers so I can install the Stinger 40cc. Thomas from Legend hobby has been awesome from the very beginning. Becareful the manual is missing some data for the gear doors. Pay a lot of attention to the wooden canopy frames. However I can bet it will be a hell of a flyer. Best wishes Sir.
Wow what a gorgeous aircraft, love the 3 cylinder radial. Looking forward to watching this fly.
Many thanks!
Looks like a cool plane! Will be tuning in for the build
Interested to compare this to the size of the Carbon-Z T-28, if you still have one around!
Excited to see you work through this one Chris. Its going to be amazing!
Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Mind blower 😮
OMG! Great motor choice, very excited
You and me both!😁
Love pneumatic gear!! Never had a problem in over 30 years. If Set-up is correct, they are bullet proof, just as Chris said!. Nice T-28 Trainer Chris. And that Saito, a man after my own heart! I still love and fly 4-strokes almost exclusively besides all my smaller electric stuff and a few scale electric DF's.
Looking forward to watching this one!
Wow, you're incredible, the plane is incredible. Just love watching you Aloha, brother. My name is Dwayne from the big island of Hawaii. You are awesome. I am also a beginning pilot 9 months under my belt.
Mahalo Dwayne! Sounds like you’re doing great on the flight training, keep at it.
Always get the urge to build more when watching your videos!
Awesome, mission accomplished! 😁😆
I know one thing for sure. ITS GOING TO BE BEAUTIFUL!!! Just like everything else you put together!!! Great to be able to watch a MASTER BUILDER assemble this incredible kit!!! We’re going to learn a lot from this build!!
Thank you so much!
The T-28 is one of my favorite planes especially the yellow one.
That's a really nice plane and nice motor😊
You are the Goat. You know what needs to be done. Enjoy that beauty congratulations
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Great video Chris!! This is a fantastic model from Legend Hobby and can’t wait to get mine in the air, thanks for all your hard work👊🏼👊🏼
Thanks man! We’ll have to compare notes on the assembly at some point.
Wow. I am looking forward to learning more from your videos.
Awesome, thank you!
I have that engine mounted on a Great Planes giant big stick XL (96 inch wingspan) and it is awesome. I used an MRS exhaust ring on mine and it sounds great. Has a deep rumble for the exhaust sound. Looking forward to your build videos. Great looking airplane. Thanks for sharing your airplanes and work.
this will be great !!!
Congrats, engine choice : approved 💪😁👍
Look forward to build videos
Thank you!
Badass !! Going to be awesome!
Can't wait!
BRUUUH THATS EPIC
I mean... the plane itself is gorgeous, but that shiny 3 banger is downright Beautiful! My God, what a looker. You'll enjoy the sh1t outta that build, man.
I'll bet the maiden is gonna bring back those old school butterflies, like the 1st time you picked up the sticks and sent one of your babies down the runway and up in the air.
I pray this one stays up there until YOU'RE ready to gently bring her in... not when gravity is ready to bring her down 😊
Can't wait to see it all!!
Thanks, Chris 👍
Thank you! I’m excited to get this one going. 😊
As a builder of three 3️⃣ Pica T-28s that led to building a super scale Byron 100” T-28 that was powered by a custom twin 78cc on alcohol with scale exhaust system. OK I was anal. I too have used Sierra gear many times and also used the main air brakes for the big T-28 . You will be amazed how easy it will fly. In my experience and opinion , the T-28 is probably the best flying war bird that you can own. I will enjoy watching your build and flying of this model. Good luck!
Very cool! You know I didn’t realize until after Byron was gone that they had a big t-28. They sure looked nice.
Congrats, Chris! Looks like a big, beautiful beast. I’m not gonna lie here, I was hoping for a Moki 5 cylinder, but hey, none of us are lottery winners.
Anxious to see the progress on this one.
Moki does not make one small enough for this ARF.
AWESOME BROTHER!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks 😁
This is going to be another great series of videos to watch!! I'm wondering if you will go with the polished look or the scuffed weathered look (although I think I already know :).
This is a beautiful example of the T-28, that a lot of people are doing. I can't wait to see what you will do with it Chris!!
AirHammer out!!
Thanks man! I haven’t fully decided yet what I’ll do just yet. Gotta get her flyable first. 😁
Wow that is a nice motor..should look sweet and sound gnarly rippin it..
Thanks, I hope so! 😊
Nice, that would take up my whole house!
I remember how you were surprisingly impressed with how sweet the E-flite 1.2m flew.
Did that influence your decision to take on this T-28?
Every T-28 I’ve flown has been such a great flyer, so definitely did influence the decision. 😁
absolutely gorgeous! Can I come watch the engine install?..lol.
😆
YYYYAAAASSSSSS!!!!!!!!
Look like this will be a giant T28 Trojan!
That engine...this is going to be an epic ARF build.
I hope so! 😊
Great video…”yeah”
Beautiful ! ....never met a T-28 I didn't like !
Same! 😁
Very sexy airplane! Looking forward to the next video. Hope I’m at the field on maiden day!
That will sound awesome, I have heard this engine run.
I hope so! I’ve seen a few of them go and they do sound extremely nice.
If anyone deserves that INSANE airplane, it's you brotha 🙌 can't wait to see you fly this beast
Thank you brother! I’m excited to get her flying. Gonna sound so good! 😁
Please do a video on air retracts. I have to use them in Legendhobby B-17 and have no experience with the air type. Thanks Geek 👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻Beautiful Plane 😃
Definitely planning to do that.
How will you deal with the weak 6mm/8mm pin on the front landing gear? Looks almost the same size as my T34 seagull and i always had problems bending the pin even on smooth landings
Being that you're going with air retract did you ever consider using a on board air compressor?
Wow Chris.. super excited to see this whole build series.. I ❤❤❤❤ T-28s in the Red Livery.. do I dare ask you how much for the T-28 and all the upgraded parts (landing gear, etc). I mean if the motor alone is almost $1,300.. I can’t imagine what the total $$$$ will be. You’re a braver man than I sir! Even if I built one.. I’d never want to fly it for fear of going into the ground nose first.. 😢
Thanks! I do have links to everything in the description. It does add up 😬
Should be a good flyer
I have the same engine on my Giant TF P47, such a sweet sound, take your time tuning it, its fussier than a singe or twin cylinder. So, is the covering like ultracote or something? Or is it that printed on stuff? If the wings came off outside of the gear, I would buy one. Transporting planes without gear down is a PITA.
The material is recover, not the silkscreened stuff. I hear you on the transport. That what I love about the Skyraider. Was hoping they were going to do the same here, but I do t think they wanted to split the flap into two segments.
D!!! Portable Nuclear Fusion...or a Infinite Probability Drive!!!!!!
🤣🤣🤣
👀👀🤣😂🙃
Hi Chris, I just found this plane at Legend Hobbies today... concluded the Saito FG-60 would be ideal.. and found your video🙂 Did you, by any chance, consider the ARC version so you could do your own scale finish? It seems every film covered warbird ends up on the flight line with wrinkles 😞
I did consider the ARC, but went this direction so I could get it in the air quicker. 😆. But yeah, the oracover will sag in the sun unfortunately.
Will you do a segment on the 'intake upgrade' to your Saito 3-cyl radial? Like to see that,
That will be part of the engine install segment.
Man that is going to be sweet. Hope you can post what the cost of this kit is. I'm going to share this vid with some guys in my club. They love T-28's
I have links to everything in the description. 😊
Looks like a lot of room... Be a shame if a smoke system ended up in there ;)
Haha, oh man, I didn’t even think about smoke. 😆
Hey Chris, cool project. Is it balsa and monokote? At half the price, how would you compare it to the Eflite you just did? Thanks, Anthony
Yeah, it’s all balsa and ply covered in oracover (I think). It’s a whole different animal compared to the eflite.
Which size Warbird Pilot did you go with? 10" or 12"?
I got the 10” size for it.
In case of retracts... Just try electron ... You will never want another system again.... 😊
I’m familiar with them and have heard good things. Never tried them though.
When's the build series start?
It’s taken me a bit longer than anticipated to get the ball rolling, but things are moving finally and I’ll hopefully have the first vid ready to post in a couple weeks.
I just hope you fix the landing gear cause it's way to high
Send the green Cab to me ! ;o)
You’re talking about the green ball cap, right? Shoot me an email with your address and I will! 😊. You can email me through my contact form at thercgeek.com/contact
The model comes as you see it in the video. Covered in oracover and no panel lines or weathering.
Beautiful kit, personally I prefer electric retracts, saves me from having to carry (and then use :) ) a bike pump. The Saito should sound great!
Just an observation, (and you can all call me a Commy, Pinko, Lefty Greeny or something) that's aimed not just at this manufacturer but most of them - can you please look at a non plastic method of protecting your kits in transit? Crumpled brown paper and corrugated will do the job, is far more environmentally friendly and can be reused in your workshop for patterns etc.
Anyhow, old man rant over, you've earned yourself a new subscriber - I have to see how this one turns out :)
I found this easier to watch with mute on. Soo much commentary. I mean really, does it matter what colour the box for the prop nut is...!!!
