I was coming to write the same thing. A lot of us a trying to buy more sustainably, it’s not always possible to do it in one go for what ever reason but that doesn’t make it any less of a goal. Us women tend to beat ourselves up if we don’t achieve everything all at once!
Gave this one a deliberate like because I think you’re one of the most balanced you tubers when it cones to the fast fashion topic. You make such a sustained effort with your vintage stuff for both you & River. Also I feel like it’s a shared responsibility, the onus is on the consumer 50% but also on the business & manufacturers 50%. Keep being you, Fleur xx
I don’t think sustainable fashion is about the price point- I have blouses in my wardrobe from primark, new look, gap and H&M which I have had for approaching or over ten years. It is about choosing timeless pieces that you love and that you know you will wear again and again, regardless of how much they cost.
From a sustainability standpoint yes. However if you also care about ethical products then fast fashion should really be avoided 100% just because even if you wear that piece for 100 years, you still supported horrible work environments. This is a general point, no judgement. I personally also unfortunately still buy non-ethically made fashion ☹️
So glad you did a haul video! This does not make you a hypocrite. It means you're aware of being more sustainable and more responsible whilst still enjoying to shop. Love your content. Thank you x
I loved this honest and just normal! Trying our best in this world but still just existing and I feel the same, there are the temptations of fast fashion but the high street is getting better. Honesty is best as it shows small steps count and you can’t be perfect! 💕💕💕
I think this just shows how genuine you are! No one expects you to never buy anything brand new ever again or shop on the high street! Love everything especially, the white shirt! But not so keen on the the jumper with the shoulder pads and the final piece (just not loving the over-sized sleeves and wide fit).
Authenticity is dying on UA-cam and so I feel that you are and have always been refreshing. As someone who is not in a point of their life where I can afford mid-tier or high-tier clothing I have always valued shops like H&M and Zara which make me presentable at work/school for a very affordable price. I don't think it's an issue as other have pointed out if you wear what you buy for many seasons. All of the shirts I bought from H&M have been worn 50+ times and still hold up 5-10 years later. I just make sure to purchase clothing with good material and classic fashion.
I really appreciate your balance here. Not preaching or pushing to completely boycott brands, but simply having an overall more conscious approach to the way you shop. Feels much more relatable and honest. Well done. Also, all of these are great finds. Necklace is wicked!
I actually also try my best to shop sustainable brands. But again just because you’re shopping sustainably but buying sooo much, it definitely negates the whole thing. That being said even if you buy from Zara or H&M but if you wear it for years and years, then it’s still sustainable. Key is to not be sucked with with the trends.
First thought was wow! That first dress is simply gorgeous! I love your 'real life' approach to sustainability without being preachy or know it all. Just honest and straightforward which i really appreciate :)
I love that your videos are just upfront and honest! I think that shopping fast fashion for those staples can be a good thing. I often buy tank tops from Target because I wear them under everything and they’re so comfortable and cheap. But then wear them until they’re literally falling apart (several years usually). Also I love the lumber jack jacket! Looks so cozy and seems perfect for the current times where we’re all spending more time at home and generally being more casual. Also it would look super cute with jeans and a t shirt. Very versatile I think.
I make a point to comment on all of your videos, Fleur! You are incredibly genuine and your content over the past two years has been wonderful! (Even better than the several before then!) I love watching and hearing your style commentary. Thank you for another great vid!
Thank you for the honesty! And I reckon just being more considerate of what you buy is whats most important. It doesnt matter where you buy your clothes from- as long as you're able to wear them time and time again (cost per wear). And YES to more videos like this- would love to see the things you pick up regardless if its from a sustainable brand or high street outlet. xx
I went through a similar thing where I went for a very long period of buying nothing new (focusing on 2nd hand) and sitting with what I have in my wardrobe to find out what I *really* liked, but have reverted to buying clothes from the high street again (though at WAY LESS volume!) after that reset because when I see something I love, I know 100% that I do love it and I will not compromise if the fit is slightly off or even a tiny part of me thinks it's not *quite* right, because I know now that I won't wear it (having passed on so many of those not quite right clothes it makes me want to cry!). It's a great place of balance for me and it looks like it'll work nicely for you too :) xxx
Love your honesty in this video and so glad I watched it. Its a very realistic approach you put across about clothes shopping. Undoubtedly there will always be those handful of items from shops like zara that we love and want to purchase. So thanks for being open and honest about it.
I'm here for this, Fleur! I love that you mostly stick to slow fashion and pre-loved fashion, but the occasional Zara or whatever fast fashion haul is fine by me because there are so many of us who simply can't afford nice things for the price of these slow fashion and sometimes even pre-loved brands. I also think we can still shop sustainably when we shop at fast fashion places. If you are practicing good habits in buying clothes and also taking care of them I do not consider you to be a part of the problem. I have Target and H&M clothes that I've had for years because I took good care of them. I've even had fast fashion pieces last me longer than Anthropolgie pieces (not that I consider Anthropolgie is slow fashion). It's all about being smart, doing what you can and what works for you, and not just doing what people tell you to do cause they make you feel bad about yourself. lol
I loved this video. We don't expect you to be perfect regarding sustainability, but you're showing everyone that you can still do your bit without sacrificing everything you enjoy. i'm all for a throwback FDF haul every now and then!
I love that you're doing a haul!! I have missed these so much. Plus, you clearly think the items that you buy are worth it. 100% it's all about changing your attitude and values in terms of sustainability and how you approach it. Really enjoyed the video 💖
I love all the pieces and how you styled them. I think sometimes it is nice to buy new things such as basics and items for the season. I buy things I love now, where I used to buy things that were on sale.
I think it’s better to be transparent than kind of “hiding” this part of yourself. You obviously don’t owe anyone an explanation, but it’s nice to see transparency. 💕
I think it's all about balance. You don't have to cut out shopping entirely, and you're mindful of it, which is what is going to make your efforts sustainable. Also, I love your new hair cut Fleur! It looks like it has so much personality?? When it's styled like it is here, it just looks so good!
Your are a total style inspo, Fleur! I adore your classic yet girly style. I LOVE everything you showed in this haul! PS, you should totally keep the lumber jacket!
Hi, Fleur! I live in Ukraine, where most people earn much less money than in the UK or other European countries. To me Zara/H&m is what I mostly can afford. And I think that’s amazing that we are able to buy stylish/mostly good quality clothes at affordable prices. I have a zara trench coat which I’ve been wearing for 7 years. In my opinion it’s not only the brands fault being fast fashion, but more the people who have money and spend it unwisely. You just showed us really nice pieces that you will probably wear a lot. Loved the white t-shirt and leggings look
I totally agree, being more sustainable is leaps and bounds ahead of where we all were even 3 years ago, it doesn’t mean we never ever shop (shopping is still fun!) but being mindful is so much of the solution in the first place. You’re fine, Fleur, I’m glad you shared, I miss these from you!
Love everything! I’ve been eying up that faux leather over shirt too. I also love that you’re being upfront with us about your purchases. I think as long as it’s something you will keep in your wardrobe for years to come, then it’s ok to shop from the high street, as well as second hand. I really like that checked shacket on you, keep it if it doesn’t fluff everywhere! I have the Anine Bing red one and I wear it allllll the time. Definitely a good wardrobe staple xxx
Love seeing what you’ve bought whether it is clothes or homewares. Please don’t feel like you need to justify yourself. Do what you can for the environment but you still need to live the life you’ve been given. 💕
It's OK, Fleur, I admire your honesty and also how you promote sustainability and keep the conversation going. It's not an answer to shame people who make changes for every little thing - for using plastic bag or shopping in Zara. We don't need a few people doing thing perfectly, we need a lot of people doing things imperfectly but making changes! This is balance and since you are aware and don't buy things in whim, it's ok!
I've always loved how honest you are with everything and ive always had the approach of buying items that I know I like to wear, I'm not fussed about trends at all, so im going to watch the rest of this video and head off to the zara website thank you fleur xxx
Yes from me on the last item (big lumberjack jacket). I thought it looked good and cosy :) Also I think being transparent about your shopping is best, nobody expects you to change 100% - shopping only 10% fast fashion and 90% sustainable is much more ethical than what most people do, especially UA-camrs who got started doing hauls.
Fast fashion is about making sure you buy stuff to last for me, and I think you've really hit the nail on the head with being balanced, honest and fair! I loved the way you style things! I'd love to see a cookbook from your current wardrobe as we own quite similar pieces!
I think you are doing a great job at being more sustainable! I’m also more looking at the fabric that is being used because I believe a big part is also that nano particles of plastic fabrics like polyester and nylon are being released in the washing machine! So I think by maybe not always choosing a sustainable shop , you can still look at the fabrics that are being used! Trying to avoid acrylic, polyester etc. Loved the video Fleur! 💛
Love all your videos, but really like how you handle the situation! As somebody who watches all of the people that go fashion conscious it's hard to try to do that in my life and you give such good options and ideas.
i am totally the same as u. i also think that decluttering is great, but also if we're constantly just buying and then donating that also leads to litter. i think its more about keeping items in your closet for longer (so also buying things that r true to u and not just trendy).
For sure it doesn’t have to be all or nothing, good to see honest chat about being sustainable that isn’t patronising/disingenuous. Didn’t think of Vestiaire for clothes though, such a lovely preloved finds 🛍
No one is perfectly zero waste! Making better choices, big or small, helps ❤️ I think you should keep the lumberjack jacket! Even just for throwing on with jeans/leggings and boots for a comfy, casual look
Loved this video. It is important to know that for some people, fast fashion brands are their clothing source because they cannot afford high end clothing or don’t want to. As you mentioned, for me, it is more important to make smarter purchases instead of going cray each season. On another note, the dress looks amazing with the shirt underneath, I wouldn’t even take it to the tailor. 🖤🖤🖤
Thank you for being transparent about buying from fast fashion brands every once in a while. I think that being aware of the problem and actually making an effort like you do is valuable and buying a few things from Zara doesn’t change that! I really like the lumberjack jacket! The fluffing might be an issue but from a look perspective I think it’s very seasonal and cute! The color way is a little unusual but still quite neutral, better thank black and white or read in my opinion! It does look quite big though, maybe try a size down?
I appreciate how you are trying to make better choices. Buying less new, buying preloved items, making things last longer. Every little bit helps our world. I saw one person before make a haul video. She said she was buying some new pieces for the winter season and she bought 40 sweaters. 40! If you wore one each day it would take a month and a third to wear them all. And if her winter was like mine, where it’s pretty much October to March, she would only wear each item 4 times that season. That just seemed completely excessive to me. But I really enjoyed this haul of a few key pieces. And we do need new clothes from time to time, things wear out. So, keep on doing as you are! 😀
Love your honesty about how you're shopping! I think it's not about making anyone feel guilty, but more so just beeing more concious of the amount of things you're buying. ☺
Hey Fleur, I watch haul videos when I have an itch to go shopping for fast fashion but I don't actually need anything, and it helps me live vicariously through someone else instead of shopping myself! So I say please keep doing the hauls, it helps me resist my urge to shop.
I appreciate you being honest with us. I really loved your zara hauls and I love it even more that you are showing us the nice and staple pieces from brands like zara. I do like the last jacket you showed. I think it suits you. Xx
Hey Fleur, you have such a big platform and your honesty will always be key. I just want to say - there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. You can't make the changes you hope for as one single consumer. All you can do is try your best, make the best choices you can, and not give yourself too much anxiety over the rest.
Better to have a bunch of people trying to be more sustainable and aren’t perfect at it than a few who are! It’s realistic and human, glad you shared :)
I love the transparency of this video. It's important to understand that people aren't perfect, and that it's fine to still buy things new occasionally. Also, I bought the black shirt dress after seeing it here. I wear a UK10, and went with a large as I never trust Zara. I probably could have sized down to a medium, but it's a gorgeous dress regardless. Heavy material, feel nice and thick, hangs beautifully. I'm going to wear mine with a belt for a more form fitted look. Thanks for the pointer!
I bought the exact same Lilac overshirt! It’s a little too oversized & I know what you mean about the sleeves but overall I still love it😍 I’ve also been having the same dilemma about shopping sustainably vs fast fashion. I think all we can do is our best to reduce fast fashion consumption and support sustainable practices :)
Your commitment to shop smarter is so motivating. That being said, sometimes we need a good old Zara shop! I just love the colors of the shacket, they are perfect on you! As long as it doesn't fluff you should totally keep!
So happy to see a try on video. You’re doing your bit and allowed some luxuries! However I can’t believe you haven’t told us where your jumper is from that you’re wearing?! So nice!
Love your transparency. I think this speaks back to your choices through your shopping consciousness, showing River on camera, or even your diet. You're allowed to change your mind! Also, i think the arms in the coat are a bit to big and totes agree a black and white or gray and white would be in your color house too 😊😊
Love this video. Don't feel bad about still shopping at ZARA i think that honesty is key and just because you have started to shift your shopping towards more pre-loved, its not always feasible, especially when it comes to basics such as white shirts and black tank tops. Love the jacket, perfect for a cozy fall jacket to wear when walking the dogs in the morning
Fleur I loved this video! try not to feel guilty, because I don't think you need to at all! AS you said yours;f, you've made such huge progress towards being sustainable, and sustainability has to be just that ... sustainable! Never shopping on the high street again just wouldn't be realistic. You're an inspiration!
You never said you weren't going to shop ever again- just more sustainably. It would be unrealistic for some people to completely swap shopping habits because of factors like budget. Sustainable clothing itself is more expensive and so are key quality pieces. Itll take time for people to get totally on board but its more about not shopping for unwanted or unneeded items- which lots do in excess! You've been upfront fleur and totally agree
I absolutely love the last Zara Shacket. The colors are right up my alley. I'm going on their website now to see if it's sold in the US. The dress is also phenomenal! I'm loving the powder blue sweater that you are wearing! ❤❤
I think it's great that you are so transparent and show the zara haul, after watching your videos I also started to change my shopping habit but feel bad when I go back to buying new stuff 😁
No to the sweater, yes to that jacket - really suited you! As other people have said, much prefer honestly than a holier than thou attitude. Not sure I'll ever buy from Zara again but that doesn't mean I can't get inspired from your purchases :) Would recommend you give Sancho's a go! Think you'd like a lot of their stuff.
Glad you made video! I think all any of us can do is re-examine are approach to consumption and try and make the best choices, bravo for you doing that!
Always love that you're honest, just continue to be yourself we love you for it, the jewellery you're wearing from inthefrow's collection looks gorgeous, I have the birthstone necklace (early Christmas present) & I adore it 😍👌🥰
I’m glad you posted this video! I sometimes buy high street for the exact same reason as you, so I’m glad to know I’m not the only person that does this!
I don't think you should feel at all bad for buying some new pieces, mixing a few new with some pre- loved pieces is a realistic way to update your wardrobe! I absolutely loved the checked shacket, you should definitely keep it!
I enjoyed this video a lot. Even though it’s summer time for us in a month, loved your winter Haul. Yes to casual jacket as it’s practice to just throw on. 💕
Loved this video, I’ve missed your hauls!!! I never thought of you as an over shopper anyway! Our habits all change anyway as we get older/different chapters in our lives/responsibilities etc etc. It’s great to be mindful of the environment and as you say considered purchases are to be encouraged but shopping on the high street is still allowed. Don’t be so hard on yourself! Love love love your videos - sending you lots of love and hugs. One of the originals and best 😘💕🌈 xxx
I love the way you're going about more sustainable living. Don't feel bad for buying a few things here and there! You're not obligated to do anything! Loved the haul!
Thanks so much for this video! It's so relatable. I'm also trying to be more sustainable with my fashion purchases but excluding all non-sustainable brands is probably a bit too radical for most people. Great message you are sending!
where's your jumper from? It looks soooo cozy and like the perfect working from home piece (comfortable and can be kept on for a meeting... oh, and warm because I'm militant when it comes to keeping the heating off)
Like others have said, I think transparency is key, and I feel like you have a good balance between sustainability and a few fast-fashion items here and there. Personally, as long as those few fast-fashion items are things that you wear time and time again, and stay in your wardrobe for years, then I think that’s pretty sustainable too. As for the beige jumper with the shoulder pads and the purple/olive shacket, I’d say both are too big on the arms and would return them!
The colorway of the jacket suits you, but I agree that if it is just going to fluff onto everything that it's probably not worth keeping. The cropped turtleneck would end up being my winter staple, especially if it comes in a decent selection of colors. Also, no judgement on where you are shopping as you've been encouraging being more mindful of the sources and limiting frequency of fast fashion purchases.
Thank you for filming this video. I think what you're doing is more realistic than completely not shopping. Making adjustments are much more sustainable habits.
hi fleur...absolutely love the tiered black dress, it really is too bad about the arms on the checked jacket...looks like someone decided to embrace the whole "batwing" arm choice which is a bit baffling..lol.....but the colour way looked amazing on you! Loved the video, I know you haven't done as many new item hauls (which I completely understand ) but I agree that choosing classic, wearable pieces from the high street and mixing in your vintage or pre-loved items was really enjoyable to watch.
I love the constellation dress with that cover up thing underneath. I would never wear something cut that low but I would pair it with a tank top and probably not be happy with it. Nice job!
I think transparency is the key, it's nice to hear the truth and makes it a lot more achievable for others to achieve the same goal
I was coming to write the same thing. A lot of us a trying to buy more sustainably, it’s not always possible to do it in one go for what ever reason but that doesn’t make it any less of a goal. Us women tend to beat ourselves up if we don’t achieve everything all at once!

I love the constellation dress (so you) and that Givenchy necklace. Please show us your vintage/antique jewellery collection.
I think you look great in the jacket!. Definitely keep it.

@@wa6184 yes but she isn’t claiming she’s ethical... plus, less consumption of fast fashion is still less money going into unethical companies.

This is the best approach and I am glad you shared. We can make small steps and make changes and this is a perfect example of that!
Hey Fleur,
I watch haul videos when I have an itch to go shopping for fast fashion but I don't actually need anything, and it helps me live vicariously through someone else instead of shopping myself!
Absolutely no explanation required, please live your life the way you want to ! Do what makes you happy , you so deserve these simple joys in life ❤️🌟
Great purchases....loved everything. The last one...shirt/jacket is a keeper!! Thanks for sharing with us.
Better to have a bunch of people trying to be more sustainable and aren’t perfect at it than a few who are! It’s realistic and human, glad you shared :)
Thank you for being so honest -transparency is the key. Loved the video ⭐️
You should talk about it. Being sustainable doesn't mean you can't buy things from the High Street! Love, love, love your hauls
Doesn’t it though? Fast fashion is wildly unsustainable?
I love the transparency of this video. It's important to understand that people aren't perfect, and that it's fine to still buy things new occasionally.
Also, I bought the black shirt dress after seeing it here. I wear a UK10, and went with a large as I never trust Zara. I probably could have sized down to a medium, but it's a gorgeous dress regardless. Heavy material, feel nice and thick, hangs beautifully. I'm going to wear mine with a belt for a more form fitted look. Thanks for the pointer!
Another person here who gave it a deliberate like. Thank you for being honest, genuine and human
So nice!
I love that you're always so transparent and honest! Plus, you're more sustainable than most so don't worry about sometimes buying from Zara!
That lumberjack jacket is amazing!! Totally my style. I think it looks great on you. Also that leather shacket is incredible, I’m in love! ♥️
I love the flannel! I have it in a dark green color from the store buckle here in states. I wear it w/ long sleeves & medium thick sweaters.
Love the shacket! Keep it! Love your videos, as always, Fleur ☺️☺️
I love this hair color, cut, and style! You’re stunning as always 💕
I love this haul. It's definitely about changing habits and a good balance. Loved the haul
Glad you made video! I think all any of us can do is re-examine are approach to consumption and try and make the best choices, bravo for you doing that!
The black dress is a favourite! So glad you did a Zara haul. I missed them
Always love that you're honest, just continue to be yourself we love you for it, the jewellery you're wearing from inthefrow's collection looks gorgeous, I have the birthstone necklace (early Christmas present) & I adore it 😍👌🥰
I’m glad you posted this video!
Loved this 🤩 and yes 💯 you should keep the shacket 🙌🏼 xxxx
I enjoyed this video a lot. Even though it’s summer time for us in a month, loved your winter Haul. Yes to casual jacket as it’s practice to just throw on. 💕
Love the white shirt. So simple, yet really lovely. Do you happen to have the product code for it at all? X
I liked the lumberjack jacket as a concept, but I think it kinda swallows you up in fabric
You really don't have to explain yourself :) You're allowed to change, tweak and refine the things you do in your life like all of us
I love the way you're going about more sustainable living. Don't feel bad for buying a few things here and there! You're not obligated to do anything! Loved the haul!
The last jacket is beautiful. All of the clothes are beautiful fleur
Thanks so much for this video! It's so relatable. I'm also trying to be more sustainable with my fashion purchases but excluding all non-sustainable brands is probably a bit too radical for most people. Great message you are sending!
where's your jumper from? It looks soooo cozy and like the perfect working from home piece (comfortable and can be kept on for a meeting... oh, and warm because I'm militant when it comes to keeping the heating off)
I liked everything from this haul! Great pieces!
I love your dresses, white blouse and the fluffy jacket is gorgeous 🥰🥰🥰
Love that little Piggy making a slow exit during your video!🤣🐶
I really want one of those lumberjack flannel jackets! Love it 😍
LOVE the last jacket. The dolman sleeves work well for this piece.
Love your video presence and fashion sense - you've given me lots of inspo!
I absolutely loved everything on you. I now need that Zara faux leather jacket xx
I love the constellation dress with that cover up thing underneath. I would never wear something cut that low but I would pair it with a tank top and probably not be happy with it. Nice job!
