Bandai Namco's absolutely terrible mistake is that they didn't launch the game all over the world at once and on their own. Amazon could just kill the game and make the release very bad, since they don't seem interested in the success of the project. Also, I would really like to see the game in Eastern Europe as well, not just Western Europe.
agreed 100%, not launching the game worldwide at once creates a group of people that will play the game before others an then when its released again in English come in and dominate things. It would have been a better experience overall if everyone got the game at the same time. staggering half the worlds release by a whole year is wild
Bandai Namco decided to partner with Amazon to publish Blue Protocol outside of Japan for the following reasons:
Cost: Publishing and operating a live service game can be very expensive. By partnering with Amazon, Bandai Namco can share these costs and reduce their financial risk.
Risk: There is always a risk that a new game will not be successful. By partnering with Amazon, Bandai Namco can reduce their risk. If Blue Protocol is not successful, Amazon will bear the brunt of the financial losses.
Expertise: Amazon has a lot of experience in publishing and operating live service games. Bandai Namco can benefit from Amazon's expertise in this area.
Reach: Amazon has a large user base in North America, Europe, South America, Australia, and New Zealand. This means that Amazon has a ready-made audience for Blue Protocol in these regions. Bandai Namco would likely have had to spend a significant amount of money and time to build up a similar audience on their own.
Infrastructure: Amazon Web Services (AWS) is one of the world's leading cloud computing platforms. AWS provides a reliable and scalable infrastructure for hosting and distributing games. This means that Amazon can ensure that Blue Protocol is available to players around the world with minimal downtime.
@@orb963 More than half a year of downtime doesn't look like "minimal downtime". Many other games will be released during this period and then the risk will become even higher, as many will leave for competitors and stay there.

Thanks for giving us a detailed take at the game ahead of global launch. I like others probably less interested now and looking forward to see what other MMOs may drop later on. Bummer but oh well.

Hey Kanon, great review and great video! You make a lot of great points and I totally agree with the main sentiment - somehow it's a lot of fun to just play, and it's super chill and doesn't feel like you're forced to login. The base combat system is also really well put-together so I hope there is more content that lets you take advantage of it in the future - again, agreed there isn't too much to do right now. Couple of points I wanted to touch on - it might get a bit long so I hope you have time to have a look 😛
1. I'm surprised you didn't expand on the EX Rush Battle. It's probably the most fun "end game content" in the game at the moment. Unlike other rush battles there are no deaths allowed, and there are divergence mechanics that make different enemies spawn depending on which get killed previously, so it can be a different experience every run. It's not super hard and it's mostly "solved", but I think it's a better example of more engaging end-game (it's the plugin farming mission) as opposed to running the level 50 missions for weapon materials.
2. B-Orochi is a level 45 farmable B-Imajinn and can roll Seimei no Honryuu G3, which is the same +700 HP ability that B-Feste β (from the BPP store) comes with. It's not unique to her and it's completely free-to-play obtainable, so it's only very minorly pay-to-win if you wanted to run both for +1400 HP for some reason. However E-Ichiza no Kizuna (level 35) is also free-to-play and can roll Seimei no Honryuu G2 (+400 HP) so B-Feste β is pretty extra. The movement speed buff on B-Feste β is also on B-Spooky Goat, which is also free-to-play.
3. I agree that the mob density feels pretty awful in certain areas getting to 50, but I wonder if this might just be a side effect of other changes. In the betas and NT, all the jobs were significantly weaker (as you know) and most classes had to 1v1 everything because they couldn't effectively 1-v-many. Do you think the mob density might've been designed around that, and they simply didn't have the time to plan & implement changes as they rushed to buff the classes prior to release?
4. One very important point you neglected to mention is how buggy and unstable the game is at the moment. I've seen you experience this all the time, but the game frequently crashes and things like the party finder and mission matchmaking queue are always borked. It's also really poorly optimized and doesn't run well even on high-spec machines. Hopefully it doesn't stay this way but this is probably an important callout for people who are considering the game.
5. Minor correction, but weapon plugs have no RNG rolls beyond the star rating. Rolling a 1-5 star is random, but every 5-star is the same as every other 5-star for the same plug; there is no variance. Seimei no Honryuu G1 says +50~150 HP, but that means you can roll 50, 75, 100, 125 or 150; nothing in between. The only stat roll you can get is the damage bonus on the ability (the 11~13%/9~11% etc).

Game looks pretty good to me so far, only thing I see as a big issue for western release is locking all cosmetics behind gacha ( if I understood correctly.) Locking some cosmetics behind gacha is fine but when it comes to MMO's I think its better to let people just buy cosmetics directly if they want.

Came from your post on reddit. Since I'm eagerly waiting for the western release, I don't consume much content regarding BP atm. However, this video was a nice overview of the whole game as of now; really good video. Take my sub, and I'm looking forward to some more BP content from your channel when western release drops.
I really loved this video breakdown! ALSO really love BP. The world, the anime aesthetic, the story are all amazing! The combat has been really fun but can feel a bit spammy at times(similar to all aRPG 😂). But overall cant wait for global as i was banned before i could enjoy it fully! Hell ya. Great vid again!

I think while it might not sell to wow or FFXIV level it will be a pretty decent success
personally I prefer the low density spawns to ones where everything aggros and two-shots you, but maybe it's easier if your class is tanky
He's saying that's a huge issue if there were hundreds of players playing in the same area. There would be 0 monsters alive and people would be stuck there waiting for spawns for a long time since they wouldn't get a chance to get credit on enough kills. Its a major issue when you consider that if the game released then tens of thousands of players would be playing and it may take weeks to alleviate the bottleneck.

Hi, just wanna ask do we have the option to trade with players? Like equipment or gold/silver?
the dangerous statement about the monetization is,
if the player are OK with the monetization now (the battle imagine and enchant ticket),
there are chance in the future they will make the battle imagine more OP than the free farmable imagine.
at that point a lot of player will keep playing because of sunk cost fallacy,
and they will say "its just another 5-10$ month".
I mean that’s what age is directly targeting the so called reasoning for the delays so we will see what happens
I mean, if you play and complete 1 BP, you can get the next one for free, so is not "another 5-10 month", is more like "I compromise myself to play this game for another 60 hours this month" xD

"Only level 50" The importance of the actual number which correspond to top level is arbitrary. What difference would it make if it were 100 if the power level/gameplay would be the same anyway.

The better the experience if i am wrong. But the game somehow tells me it will only last like 2 years, when you said the 2 Endgame Dungeons are just an upscale of the first 2 Dungeons.

This is like "Sword Art Online" x "Zelda".
If 20 of the same exact enemies with no variation just spawned in every area people would cry that its copy and paste and feels mundane. Then people get the exact opposite of that and cry about how they have to grind. Grind isnt bad as long as its not the same exact thing constantly.

I really appreciate all the things you said and agree with about 90% if not more of it LOL.
I did think there was extra stuff such as (beta skills drop from lvl 40/50 dungeons) or (there's an exclusive weapon drop from the lvl 50 dungeon that only has that effect and cannot be crafted) but very accurate overall.

Thanks I played on JP for 3 days before the ban hammer but I did not notice the 10 pull thing, that at least takes some of the edge off the expensive system they have at the moment. I'm still kind of disgusted at the cost off BPP though. I'll wait and see how Global goes and keep playing Pso2 NGS JP until then.

I played till level 40 and honestly I got really bored, I feel like the gameplay loop is extremly boring.
I was wondering about the monetization. Could you clarify what you meant when you said each 10 pull is 50 dollars Japanese. Is that 50 yen? Or was that 50 US dollars, but the game converts to yen?
5000 yen, or what is usually $50 US equivalent when localized (though a little less when buying bigger bundles of orbs, or if you factor in the extremely low value of the yen ATM)

5,000 Yen for 10 pulls? WTF? That's about 35 USD at the current exchange rate. If they have this rate in the western release, this game will be DOA.
Is there a way to replace the last story boss?
This game isn't going to make it in the US with these gatcha mechanics and no real end game. Its weird to see such little development in the right direction after the betas from SO LONG ago.
Still, this was a good video and you did a great job talking about most aspects of the game. I remember when I was hyped for this in 2019 but I really don't have any desire to play the game anymore after seeing the direction they are going.

You didn't mention how Feste B gives a speed buff which is a clear advantage in the Time Attack (ranked with ranking rewards). And the leads said they wouldn't make this game P2W.
At least I got lucky and got the costume I wanted for just the 40 something I spent. I like the battle pass also.
I was so excited about this game over the years but the more i hear about it the more waning my will to play it when it comes out it gets...basically a agressive gacha mmo... reminds me FGO.
They only thing in an MMO experience is natural numbers of lawyers all in the same world able to interact with you I think what you meant was the RBG experience because that would relate to how do you desire interface work in route? How do you access your inventory and all your gear know it has anything to do with being massively multiplayer online game that acronym MMO doesn’t have anything to do with gameplay other than you will do it with the other player.
We've only been waiting for two years with this game. Tired of a few Beta Testing and the game never coming out.
I have been following BP for a couple of years now. Every trailer, I've been so hyped and excited for the release date, but it almost seems like for every new trailer, the release date gets pushed back for even longer. As much as I want to see the game succeed and I'm happy with waiting for a good product, I can't help but feel more and more withdrawn from the game with every announcement. I hope this game turns out well.
Amazon/Bandai knows how bad is BP doing in JP if they drop it right now it will be a huge flop so they are waiting for JP to have a huge update to bring players back and to put it on global the moment it goes live

I have to ask, are weapon skins, like the sword and sheilds, are always a pair, and are clothes always a set(shirt, pants, headgear) or separate items?
weapon skin only counts by class, which mean yes, if you have a weapon skin for Blade Warden, then it will be applied to both sword and shield
costumes in gacha always come as a full box (which contains all 5 pieces head, shirt, pants, shoes and gloves) so you don't have to worry about getting separate pieces
but could i mix n max pieces of clothes for further customization? and is there a glamour system?

Blue Protocol was one of my most anticipated games, but the fact that it didn't launch globally at the same time, it really killed the hype for me, as well as Amazon seeming adamant on changing the game to appeal to what they think people want, bro just release the game as it is and let the devs do their thing. I will try it because it's free, but I don't have much hope left

blue protocol is amazing, before i got banned because i wasn't a Japanese citizen
15-20 min per level "grind". LOL. There's absolutely nothing to complain about there. I've leveled every job in ff14 to 90 and that takes way longer

I don't think it's the right move to review this like a Korean Grinder. The game isn't designed to rush players to endgame and then drain their souls with daily, nigh-Sisyphean tasks. Rushing to max level is almost entirely pointless (and, thus, grinding for EXP alone is pointless). Getting a max roll weapon is nice, but only really useful for time attacks.
It's not that what you're saying isn't true, it just isn't what the game focused on. Since it's presented as a full review it gives the impression that this is the best the game has to offer. It seems like these are the parts that most interest you, which is fine, but maybe specify the slice of the game that you're reviewing.
That said, would love to see more on the directional input attack combos.
