Visiting New Orleans is not complete without a food tour and swamp tour! Walking around the french quarter and trying incredible foods has definitely been one of the highlights of this USA trip so far!
From the beignets to the Po' boys to even the chargrilled oysters and tiny little crawfish, we indulged!! And the people were some of the warmest and friendliest we've met! We were also stoked to find a nice and affordable RV Park just 20 minutes away from the city center called Bayou Barataria RV Park! All in all New Orleans gets 10 out of 10 in our book!

I find New Orleans to be one of the most charming places in the US the good ol blues n jazz compliments the comforting taste of the food and the wonderful people and accents are a beautiful combination. I’m 16 and can’t wait to go to New Orleans someday. Thank you guys ❤️

I actually worked at Cafe Du Monde and they do make their beignets from scratch and fry them fresh. New batches are made every ten minutes or as demand calls for them.
They must have just left them in bags for too long. I’ll give them another chance next time haha thanks for sharing!

We'd also recommend Parkway for Po-Boys, Broussard for bread pudding, Clesi's for crawfish bowl, Willie Mae's Scotch House for fried chicken and you've also got to try a Mint Julep there! :)

After a heavy rain..
You can pick up crawfish from your yard and boiled them with whole onions, corn on the cob, Potatoes, smoke sausage and have yourself a good meal.

If u ever come again there is also a cafe du monde in the river walk shopping center, the line isn’t as long and it’s indoors so u won’t have to wait outside in the heat.

Dragos has the best-chargrilled oysters... and go to Casamento's on magazine.. they are ONLY open during oyster season...parkway has a great fried seafood poboy. and Johnny's is great in the quarter.

Always get a dozen char grilled oysters and a salad with their house dressing.
My mom made powered donuts at home on Sundays. They sell kits to make your own.
Sounds amazing, might have to go look for one of those kits lol
Next time go to ponchatrain landing. About 15 min from the French quarter and they have shuttles that will drop you off down there and pick you up.

I'm hoping to head to New Orleans next month and I definitely want to try Cafe Beignet. My experiences at Cafe Du Monde were pretty good though. I visited several times on previous trips and I always tried to time it so that it wasn't as busy and I loved the beignets that I had.

Thanks Bear! Nathan likes to research - he'll google "best restaurants in..." and then he'll rummage through reviews and photos of the best he finds (usually there are blogs written on a place, and there's always yelp and google reviews) Once he starts to see certain patterns in places being recommend a lot, he'll look more into those. Then, if it doesn't have 4.3/5 stars or better, we usually don't eat there 😂 brutal but we also don't eat out much so when we do we want it to be good. That's how we find the best of the best in each city 👌🏽

Acme is okay. But, Drago's was the first, and still the best, for char grilled oysters. They now have a site on Canal. The original Drago's was in Metairie, a suburb of NOLA on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain.

Currently in New Orleans visiting and Cafe Du Monde was heads above Cafe Beignet. They are smaller, but they're usually perfectly cooked, flaky, airy, and just delicious compared to the heavier Beignet at Cafe Beignet. I'm shocked lol

Just got back from there. Swamp tour: hell yes, you must do one. Food: hell yes, research out places, hunt down out of the way gems, but even some of the tourist trap places had good food.
Bourbon Street: if you are younger and want to party, there ya go. Otherwise... my wife and I spent around 90 minutes there on a Saturday evening, it was fun, but really more if you are young and want to get/be wild. If that's your goal, you came to the right place.
Garden District: great architecture, beyond that, overrated as a "shopping heaven." There are some shops. There are also shops (way way more) in the French Quarter.
I'll miss New Orleans, mostly the people there who were polite, kind and friendly.

Being from Louisiana, I can tell you that there is a huge debate regarding Cafe Du' Monde and Cafe Beignet. CDM is definitely more iconic but I prefer CB.

What was the crawfish place you ate at?
This is why you don’t stand in the tourist line. You find a table that someone just got up from that still has powdered sugar and dishes all over it and you park yourself and wait patiently. Someone will come and clear the table and take your order.

Okay first time viewer I am 60 plus years old from Texas I'm heading back to New Orleans I was there in October and it was really dead but it did to go to desire for my oysters I will go to Acme and follow your lead but yeah you're right cafe du mond always has a line but they have live music. I'll be there in next week do you have a secret place for me to go and eat? Oh when I was there with my wife we did go to Johnny's and have lunch and they only take cash don't they.

Go to a different cafe du monde location. The quarter one isn’t great because it’s such a tourist hot spot. Coffee is better at du monde.
