As 350lbs and 6'4" tall dude this song touches my heart. My Mom is a diabetic and all that stuff runs in my family. I saw my Mom about lose her mind trying to lose weight and keep it off her whole life. Have you ever seen what the average diet for Americans in the 1940's was? It'll make you scream in a rage if your trying to lose weight. People used to eat pounds of sugar and fats at a time and not gain weight. Something has definitely happened to the food supply. There's no way to deny that once you start looking at the diet of our great grandparents
They also hung their clothes to dry on the line, washed dishes by hand, walked just about everywhere or took a bus, shoveled coal into the furnace to warm up the house in the morning, etc etc etc. Not to dispute cream in their coffee, cream on hot cereal, butter on every serving of vegetables, pies swimming in sugared fruit and home made desserts after every meal. But the servings were smaller, much smaller. Look at bowls and cups from that era.
I thought I lost my taste for country music back in the late 80s/early 90s. Apparently it was country music that had lost its taste, bc I'm fuggin here for this!❤
@@glitchbeard4046Your history is a bit off. Folk and country both descend from old time, but they're distinct. Modern folk music comes from the folk revival movement. Many artists were heavily influenced by some of the oldest recorded American music, e.g. Lead Belly. Old time kinda morphed into country as that mountain sound traveled westward through the south and as guitars overtook banjo as the most popular instrument in America. Hell the term folk music used to just refer to what music poor folks liked to play, didn't even mean anything specific until the folk revival movement took off. The old time/country distinction is pretty fuzzy when it comes to old old country though.

Tyyyy
Its a nitpick, but at the "Wizard of Oz" part I think its supposed to go "curtains the Do Re Me Me Me"
(since thats how the major scale goes)
ty :)
I think its blue checkmarks
Whistle Boeing in a reel led me to my new obsession. Im excited about music again.
This is the real American music, The Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, wake up and smell the coffee pot burning in your soul kind of music.
Jessie says it like it is, with all his songs. How refreshing - now if only the people with power would literally HEAR him. Thank you for your wisdom Jessie!
The people with power pay to keep him quiet
This man is really the definition of soul. Thank you for putting your all into this.
Depression and why dont you love me🙏 if you havent listened to them already👍 love this mans music, such a great lyricist
Every time I listen to this guy i literally can’t think of any other words than “fucking awesome…”
Huge balls on this guy. Gambling on talent and messaging! Love this guy!
This tune has an "I'm laughing at these clowns" feel. Clean music, complete freedom.
This is the modern day “we need this guy”
as opposed to whats his face from last month?
How are all of his songs so good???? Amazing work!!
Well I guess since I found your music, I started liking country. You're something else. keep doing whatever it is you're doing
It’s not country it’s folk.
Cool
Classic example of how you can be more country than those who cosplay cowboys, excessively listen to country-pop and drive giant trucks without doing so yourself 😂
Love it!
Always a good day when Jesse Wells releases a song!
Think you commented on the wrong video, Brother. "Fat" is what you're looking for ;)
They also hung their clothes to dry on the line, washed dishes by hand, walked just about everywhere or took a bus, shoveled coal into the furnace to warm up the house in the morning, etc etc etc. Not to dispute cream in their coffee, cream on hot cereal, butter on every serving of vegetables, pies swimming in sugared fruit and home made desserts after every meal. But the servings were smaller, much smaller. Look at bowls and cups from that era.
So glad this one popped up in my reels a few weeks ago. This dude rules!
This is the best song I've heard in years. It's the absolute truth and a proper reflection of the current state of the music industry.
I've listened to this at least half a dozen times already and I don't see myself slowing down anytime soon
If you are the man I find in the woods, I would choose you over the bear.
I am blown away with not only your writing but your playing as well, speechless because I believe you already said it all.
Probably one of the best artists/musicians I have ever found in the entirety of my life- dang! You are such a meaningful creator, I love your work!!
Yeah, this is another great one. When I find myself rewatching it over and over again, it's perfection.
Great songwriting, storytelling, playing and performing. Real talent. Aged beyond your biological years. Old souls know old souls.
This is the second day I'm watching this. I can't get enough.
Such a unique style of playing with the pick and finger plucking. Love it!
I’m loving all this music. Thank you for sharing with the world, brother.
I thought I lost my taste for country music back in the late 80s/early 90s. Apparently it was country music that had lost its taste, bc I'm fuggin here for this!❤
True statement
This is folk baby, pure and simple truth telling. ❤
@@SeRialRedHeaD I respectfully disagree on a semantic technicality. "Folk" is what the people who co-opted country music call country music.
I seriously have no words, but you sure do! Brilliant😎✌✨
Huge John prine fan and it's no coincidence I am now a huge Jesse Welles fan. So original and yet so creative. You are appreciated Jesse
When Jim Morrison's body merges with Bob Dylan's mind.
Listed to the entire catalog of this channel, and now on repeat. This level of songwriting prowess is generational and speaks to all.
In any era prior to now, he'd be a household name. I think if he keeps going, he'll be one even now.
his lyrics are actual genius I love his work
Can’t wait to see what you do next! By far one of the most exciting artists out here right now
These are truly some of the best, most important, well written songs ive heard in a long time
62 thousand subs is a fucking joke people.
This dude is insanely talented, and if you’ve been in the industry you know this message is just for us.
This dude is a true blue American songwriter. From Alberta to Nashville Montreal to LA, they all wish they could catch lightning in a bottle like this and sell it for the same price as plastic topped coke.
Love it brother, keep her rollin, for Woody, and those little guys still out slogging through the trenches ❤❤❤
Unfortunately the youth today want someone shaking there arss for 60 minutes.
@@gothicgoreynot all of them, theres still people even younger than me (25) that listen to real music (using instruments)

Thrilled with the playlist, ALL your songs are fantastic, the writing, the composition, the humor, and your finger picking!!! The whole package.
Bless you forever, a national treasure.
Boy put these tracks on a RECORD so i can SUPPORT you!!!
He's on Spotify
@@no-ic5gw i wanna suppprt him through physical merch. The songs literally about the greed that influences the decisions of companies such as spotify to steal the majority of the revenue made by an artist for themself.
Not gonna lie that guitar solo , simple yet beautiful . You make me want to pick up my guitar again
Where have you been all my life Jesse? Keep this shit up, I can't live without it now!!!
