Definitely not Dylan. Jesse is plain spoken but clever with his phrasing. Even biting. It's social commentary we can all understand. Straightforward. He's accessible. Dylan was often opaque with endless, confusing references and riddles.
Almost reminds me of an 1950’s something odd model Martin D-18 guitar I only say that because I watch the Andy Griffith show a lot and shortly after watching one of Jesse’s videos I was watching Andy Griffith and he picked up his guitar in the episode I was watching and I could not help but think to myself that looks like Jesse’s guitar somewhat unfortunately that brand of guitar has been discontinued for sometime now either way, it’s not the guitar I want. My dream guitar the one I want the original hummingbird by Gibson. I’m not too sure of all the information on it but my favorite rock band/country singer uses it as his main guitar for all of his performances, the band of which i speak of are the old 97s Rhett Miller is the lead singer.
Jesse is throwing down a couple songs a week right now on his channel and they are all quite good. Heavy on the folksy Dylan/ Prine/Seger genre at the moment and that's being warmly received. In short, he's damn good!

Check out Jesse Welles Cancer - lyrically beautiful like most of his stuff
I don't think the lyrics just mean that war is bad. rather there's a somewhat snarky critique of the official messaging that war is ok if this, it's ok this time because that, then contrasting it with the reality of what that means (with quite beautifully pointed lyrics), so you are left to question if those narratives are nothing but propaganda, if the reasons were really enough justification, seeing the result.
Dave- Do yourself a favor and check out Jessie Wells live videos from 7-8 yrs ago. Totally different look, totally different genre. He was a total hard rocker doing incredible guitar work. He has returned to UA-cam totally reinvented and transformed. More sellable ? Jesse is a talented and unique musician.
...if Bob Dylan and John Prine had a baby, whose Grandpa was Woody Guthrie for sure, but for me it's giving a bit of grunge vibes too, cause he is also from this era and would have a lot of different influences. I'm thinking of Kurt Colbain. Maybe not protest songs as in the Dylan vein, but every generation has had it's form of social commentary I guess. Whatever he is, he's bloody awesome and has woken me up (64 year old gramma here lol) and given me hope we can still fight.. all the coming crap.

The John Prine of the 2020s
Take a listen to his song WalMart
That was awesome. I was thinking bob dylan too - topical or protest. either way it was fantastic
Definitely not Dylan. Jesse is plain spoken but clever with his phrasing. Even biting. It's social commentary we can all understand. Straightforward. He's accessible. Dylan was often opaque with endless, confusing references and riddles.
The guitar is an old vintage type used by everyone back in the day. Not quality but it was the standard acoustic
Leadbelly played Stella's because they were easily available mass produced guitars
I love his Star Spangled Banner song, this guy is mega talented.
Check out his previous band "Dead Indian" kind of a different vibe. More like alt rock. Great stuff
He reminds me of a modern day Woody Guthrie.
He was a total
hard rocker doing incredible guitar work. He has returned to UA-cam totally reinvented and transformed. More sellable ? Jesse is a talented and unique musician.
Oh that sounds cool. I'll take a look.
...if Bob Dylan and John Prine had a baby, whose Grandpa was Woody Guthrie for sure, but for me it's giving a bit of grunge vibes too, cause he is also from this era and would have a lot of different influences.
Agreed. Bob Dylan but better and not born again...
Jesse Welles is the type of genius that redefines what genius is. He is supernatural. He's a super-intelligence in an age where intelligence is obsolete.
If you are not confused and trying to re-calibrate your universe to incorporate this new kind of being into your understanding of the world, then you haven't really understood.
Listen to his song, "United Health"
Quite refreshing real singing real guitar just grandma
I'm into Jesse. Im going to watch you.
Thank you!
Irony is not a metal alloy.

Sure thing, I'll check it out!
@@DaveWildheart Awesome Thanks! Lyrics are amazing, really hits home to any vets listening
Isn't he playing with a pick between thumb and first finger?
Yes
it's called hybrid picking
lol funny you thought you were giving him exposure, when in reality you mentioning his name is giving YOU exposure since he's exponentially more popular and well known.
no shade or nothing just made me chuckle a bit =)
glad you found him, I'm sure glad I did!
Yeah I have no idea what comes out of my mouth most of the time during these videos. Normally live to regret it 😂
@@DaveWildheart haha for sure. tbh at first I assumed you were being a lil condescending so I was like >_>
but then I was like oh he must just literally have not noticed the likes/follows or some haha
but yeah again glad you found him, sure glad I did. reminds me of phil ochs or tom paxton in the best of ways
Yo wait bridge city sinners are gas. You have to admirer creativity mixing jazz and folk like that.
He's from Arkansas.
I think he's out of Arkansas.
Did this damn redcoat just ask me "howdy?"
He's from arkansas!
jesus you're handsome
Please don't say C if it's not actually a C. If it's a C shape on capo 3 that makes it D#. Just be clear, otherwise you are going to confuse beginners. Imagine if there is a beginner in the audience with perfect or relative pitch, you are going to seem dumb to them because you're naming the incorrect note.
I made a video that teaches you how to play this if you want to learn the picking pattern
Your assumptions are way off at the start.
You can't copy genius.
My goodness....if you're going to do an analysis video on ANY artist, don't be so damn ignorant of your subject. I mean, you don't even know his NAME.
Chill dude, it's just a video. Only good vibes on this channel ✌️🙏
Right on only good vibes i’m down with that. The world could use more good vibes. Ok so yea simple tactic keep it real but also keep it chill I feel your frustration but let it not upset you and try a different approach with your criticism but in a friendly way can ya dig it ? Y’all have a good day now.
@@DaveWildheart Jesse is not big on interviews, bios, etc. Even when this was dropped a month ago, little was really known about Jesse. He is from Arkansas. Lighten up Steve...it's Cool to be Kind.
I thought it was pretty clever actually
