I like how he speaks naturally and casually like everyday's conversation with friends, without impressing the examiner with complicated sentence structures or vocabs that are mostly used in written forms. The pauses and filler words here and there are mainly because the questions are not everyday questions he gets. Hi, I scored a band 8 recently in speaking section of ielts academics. The test covered a lot of different unrelated topics rather than different questions on one topic. Beside the questions related to my neighbourhood and neighbours, there were questions on topics such as my views on having too much sports on TV , recycling, international collaboration and its effect on the countries involved, teamwork and leadership (skills and personality trait of a leader). Hope this will give general idea to future candidates.

The mock examiner is in this video is not authentic: 1) You are not allowed to have all your questions/material out in plain view 2) You are not allowed a phone on the table 3) You are not allowed to say words like good or comment on answers. Things like "good" and "great" give feedback to the speaker. This is not allowed during the interview. 4) You are not allowed to take notes while the interviewee is speaking 5) "Good vocabulary" is not a clear descriptor. A better way to look at vocabulary is the speaker used less commonly known words (low frequency) or academic words. 6) A mistake here or there does not affect the score in the way most students think. It only becomes an issue when the mistakes become pattern that the interviewer recognizes. 7) The interviewer didn't talk about the complexity of language. No mention of simple and complex sentence or dependent and independent clauses. Just a tip for test takers....do not cover your mouth when you're talking. It may affect the clarity of content. Remember, your voice is recorded during the interview. The microphone is usually directly in front of you. So covering your mouth might affect the recording.

Although it might be more common to say "on the outskirts", it would not be incorrect to say "in the outskirts" nor would it sound weird to a native speaker.
I feel like I can do this kind of talk. If that's how the IELTS speaking session should be, then I'll be more relieved. My current assumption is that if I want to get a solid 8+, it must be highly smooth and I must speak in an unremitting way. However, after watching this one, it changes my perspective in a way that: It should be and must be all about confidence and carry the conversation like you are talking to someone. Of course, you have to insert some relevant points into your talk here and there. But I do have a question: the guy in this video does use quite a bit of "Uhmm" and "Like etc." - so does anyone here take real tests and pls tell me if it is totally ok to use these short verbal fillers? Sorry it's quite long because I'm preparing for my forthcoming IELTS test and I'm a bit nervous about the real criteria. :(
apparently english is one of his 1st languages so he has zero problem communicating in english at all, an 8 might be low for repetitively using slang words in my opinion
I just realized that the IELTS speaking test is totally different from your videos, the examiner won't let me speak for 10 seconds or more, and non-stop disturbing my speech by using lots of silence way, like pointing a finger at me or doing some wried body motions to stop me.
he speaks and covers his lips, what an idiomatic expressions is he using between 6 and 8 minutes?? I do not understand because he speaks sometimes not too clearly especially when he covers his mouse. I think also that he uses "like" way too much. I am sorry for my typo in my previous comment . I meant "idomatic", not "idiot!". I accidentally click on COMMENT and placed only the beginning of my post. I want to kno those idioms he is using.
This video is slightly misleading and isn’t a very accurate representation of a real speaking test. Also, most of the questions asked aren’t up to date or even used anymore. Also, why is the examiner using words like: ‘Ok, good, very good, great, yeee.., good man, cheers, perfect, interesting answer. etc? This isn’t the correct procedure and could be quite confusing to candidates, especially when using these verbal nods. I understand the video can’t be an exact replication of the speaking test, but it could be conducted a little more professionally in the future to better help students.
This examiner teacher is great makes you feel confortable i hope to have someone like this type of person

Why does he cover his mouth again and again?
Tooooo much “like”-s, however it was a great performance 👍🏼 fluency and confidence are very good 👍🏼
So great to see this video. HI johnny. Still look 👌 awesome
How many times did you said “like”?
- Yes

They used to learn American English which is slightly different from Aussie 's
오픽이나 토스 보단 이게 진짜 영어시험이지
Thank for calling Our Holly land Ethiopia.
Long live To our Home, Ethiopia.
The student's English is more natural than the checker 😂
hahahahahahh
😆😆😆Checker
apparently english is one of his 1st languages so he has zero problem communicating in english at all, an 8 might be low for repetitively using slang words in my opinion
lol the sarcasm at the end
i m in love with this examiner ..lol
Hi sir, when is the next examination for IELTS ?.I'm planning to take an examination in the future.
I just realized that the IELTS speaking test is totally different from your videos, the examiner won't let me speak for 10 seconds or more, and non-stop disturbing my speech by using lots of silence way, like pointing a finger at me or doing some wried body motions to stop me.
Where is the card for part 2 we can’t see ut
TO ADAPT THE OTHER COUNTRY CULTURE IS TO STAY HUMBLE IN WHICH ITS THEIR TERRITORY.

Why is he putting his finger on the upper lip? Excellent!
he speaks and covers his lips, what an idiomatic expressions is he using between 6 and 8 minutes?? I do not understand because he speaks sometimes not too clearly especially when he covers his mouse. I think also that he uses "like" way too much. I am sorry for my typo in my previous comment . I meant "idomatic", not "idiot!". I accidentally click on COMMENT and placed only the beginning of my post. I want to kno those idioms he is using.
No wonder you don't understand him, coz you speak with your mouse
Tomorrow is my IELTS Speaking Test Islamabad, Pakistan.
is it allowed if you cant answer the question correctly? What is your favorite part of your home? my favorite is pc?
This video is slightly misleading and isn’t a very accurate representation of a real speaking test.
Also, most of the questions asked aren’t up to date or even used anymore.
Also, why is the examiner using words like: ‘Ok, good, very good, great, yeee.., good man, cheers, perfect, interesting answer. etc?
This isn’t the correct procedure and could be quite confusing to candidates, especially when using these verbal nods.
I understand the video can’t be an exact replication of the speaking test, but it could be conducted a little more professionally in the future to better help students.
