    Very heroic! Great job cameraman! I have a few questions 1-Why many were not wearing masks? 2- Who's the Suit ? Are they volunteers? was FDNY responsible for bringing scaffold down?

    As high angle rescue tech, I can say that FF Dinkel's response to the question @ 29:20 is what I would hope to hear from a rescuer--and with sincere humility. Squads drill/train over and over so that when called, they don't have to think about what to do (a side from the wheres and hows of each location). A lot of Brass it seems for this call, but they didn't grandstand or lime-light. @themajestirium1, great snag on a "real-world" call. Thanks.

    Great video as always and great job by the FDNY as always. Just wondering, ya think those window washers were carrying a little extra weight in their drawers on the way down than they had going up? LOL

    After watching several FDNY videos I figured they would cut the seals of the window bring it in, and rescue the men. Amazing still. Was it a rescue unit that did the work? No coverage on national news. I'm from Akron Ohio. Thanks for sharing. Much respect for first responders.

      Depends on how the window operates, how it is set in the frame, and how the victim is oriented. Usually when you see them take out a window as you are saying, the scaffold is stuck but still level and near a window, or maybe the worker is suspended near the window. This guy was on the ledge, right up against the window. One false move could have knocked him off and they're not going to chance it with him tethered to his own rope, that they don't know and trust. Further, depending on the harness he's wearing, they might not trust that either. I know they completely sized up the job before they made their move. You don't put a firefighter over the roof unless that's the only choice.

    • @vinnyb.1314
      @vinnyb.1314 4 роки тому

      @@ludwiggretsch878 , the issue here is , yes , he’s still on his own safety line and also , that line has been shock loaded from the initial collapse of the scaffolding, and is definitely been compromised . An other issue is that the the workers safety line is taut and there is no slack for them to bring him in the window. So first , R-1 wants the worker on one of their own safety lines and then the worker will have to be raised up just enough to but slack in his safety line so it can be removed from the workers harness.
      Excellent job by FDNY ....just another day in the FDNY’s Rescue’s !!

    They did a great job and those guys were very lucky that they could get on a ledge, sometimes you dont even have time for that lol this almost happened with a few fellow painters of mine, a inspector passed by and saw that their scaffolding was moving up and down slowly and that is not good, so he went too the roof and saw that the weights were just enough to keep em hanging but they forgot too put on extra weight for materials and equipment, so the whole thing could fall any moment, luckily that inspector could warn them in time pfft, great video John.
