Experimental physicist here :) Applying "a solvent" doesn't mean much -- anything can be a solvent when something's dissolved in it. You mean you need a liquid a) in which plexiglass is highly soluble and b) that evaporates fairly quickly. I've used simple chloroalcanes to do this -- chloroform is standard, but dichloromethane is less hazardous. Better yet, because none of these molecules are very friendly, acetone (like in nail polish remover) -- but I suppose it would take a longer time to bond. Also, train on scrap pieces before doing the real deal! Any dripping and the optical quality of your surfaces will be ruined... !
Yeah I was wondering how they skimmed over such a basic key ingredient... That part of the tutorial sounds preposterous when you know how unspecific the word "solvent" is.

I get that with tons of experience, you can apply it and rarely spill, but we want you on this planet for as long as possible! Liquid cancer is what I call acrylic bonding solvent. I always apply with medium thickness nitrile gloves on. It's also really bad for the atmosphere, so cap your supply container as soon as you are done using it. Surprised it's still legal in California, when something far less harmless, like Denatured Alcohol, is banned.

LOVE the video content! Thank you for making these. As someone with hearing issues though, the audio quality somewhat throws off my equilibrium since it is so bassy and makes it somewhat hard to ear clearly. I'm not worried though, it'll get better with time.

Further pro tips from the signage industry. -When cutting plastic with a jig saw, cut on top of a nice, thick piece of extruded foam insulation. - turn any blade oscillation the jig saw may have off; be sure that the blade is going straight up and down.

frutosmarinos sometimes we do us laser cutter but not great for thicker than .25” and we’re often using .5-1” plexi. Plus, we don’t own one yet. We use SketchUp and Maya for 3D
Great video. One question: How would you attach plexi walls to a wooden base. Im plannimg to convert a glass top coffee into a shadow box coffee table. The walls of the shadow box would be clear plexi. The base would be mdf or plywood and the top of the walls would connect to the wood under side of the table. Thanks for your time and any suggestions you may have.
Amr El Saadany Photography a few ways. Attach the container to the shaft is an aluminum block drilled out with a tapped whole for a set screw. Or depending on the forces, a drill a while in the plexi itself and drill and tap a set screw in the plexi

2:53 - you can get kickback, when detail is wider than longer. It can stuck between the blade and the fence. I've experienced this situation.
