- Eric Poor, Age 11, from CityDance School and Conservatory, performs "Swan" by Lorraine Spiegler at the YAGP 2021 Boston Semi-Final, where he received the Hope Award in the Pre-Competitive Age Division.
Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) is the world's largest student ballet scholarship competition and global dance network, connecting students, teachers, schools, dance companies, and audiences worldwide. Now in its 22nd season, YAGP has reached more than 150,000 participants worldwide through its international ballet workshops, ballet auditions, ballet competitions, and ballet master classes.
To date, over $4 million has been awarded to young dancers in scholarships to leading dance schools worldwide, including The Ailey School, American Ballet Theatre JKO School, The Australian Ballet School, Ballet West Academy, Berlin State Ballet School, Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive, Boston Ballet School, Canada’s National Ballet School, Dutch National Ballet Academy, English National Ballet School, European School of Ballet, Houston Ballet Academy, John Cranko School of The Stuttgart Ballet, The Juilliard School, Paris Opera Ballet School, Princess Grace Academy, The Rock School for Dance Education, The Royal Ballet School, San Francisco Ballet School, The Washington School of Ballet, and Zurich Dance Academy, among other preeminent institutions in the U.S. and abroad.

Wow... I don't think I've ever seen another male ballet dancer at any age have this level of flexibility and extensions. So graceful! Simply superb!
If you research here on UA-cam, you'll find plenty. Two of the most superb boys are Shale Wagman and Antonio Casalinho, both recent First Place winners of the Prix de Lausanne. Their videos begin at about 6 years old and are sheer joy to watch.

Yes, indeed. I have seen many through the years. But not with this level of flexibility and extensions at such young age. Certainly, he was born to dance. By the way, as somebody mentioned: the choreography is superb! It showcases this this boy’s talent to the utmost.

OMG.....It's unbelievable. His ballet abilities are rarely given to girls, almost NEVER to boys. Long soft muscles, gigantic step, fantastic feet, flexibility, plasticity, musicality.....OMG. And also his artistic skills, unseen in such a young guy.

He takes his time, and he accentuates a move, and he completes every single move before moving on, the lines, the extension and the expression this kid has a big future

Yes, absolutely agree. I actually held my breath throughout his piece and gasped for air at the end, not even realising I had done it. Literally breathtaking movement.

Because such extraordinary-ideal-physical conditions of this young ballerino are unusual in a male ballet dancer. Add to that the artistry that he shows at such young age. Very moving, indeed. It reveals a virtuosity seldom seen in male dancing. Yes in girls, not in boys. The sum of all that predict a great artistic future for this young man.

Данные и правда хорошие. Но не нужно было под эту музыку ставить гимнастические упражнения. У ребёнка нет жизненного опыта, чтобы протанцевать эту гениальную музыку. Его не научили вкладывать душу, могли хотябы не натаскать с артистизмом танцевать. К тому же хореография плохая, бездарная. Получилась гимнастика. Это ответственность хореографа и педагога.

OMG!!! What did I just watch? This youngster has got AMAZING talent! I've watched adults perform this piece not nearly as precise, graceful, expressive, nor passionate as was executed in this performance. If this youngster remains in Ballet, and I hope he does, he will be one "The Greats"!

What you saw other dancers performed was "The Swan", made famous by Anna Palova. Eric's performance was not the original choreography. Although his choreography had "Swan" elements, his is uniquely designed for him. Therefore, you cannot compare this to others (females particularly). Eric deserves to shine on his own for this performance! ⚘⚘⚘ Bravissimo!!!⚘⚘⚘

His teachers molded an amazing 11year old and brought out an amazing dancer. He's going to be a force to be reckoned with. He dances light as a feather and what makes him unique is...his fluidity and his expression. His movement tells a story...he's not just showing off flexibility
