- Now 18-year-old ballet dancer Kayla Mak returns to take us through her week leading up to 'New Dances,' her final group performance at Juilliard. Since we last saw her, she's been accepted into The Juilliard School and has completed her first semester of dance training. Between 5 hours of dance a day, 6 days a week and liberal arts classes, watch and see how Kayla balances it all.

Kayla is a STARRR 😭❤️. She won two national titles last summer at NYCDA and the dance awards with one of the best pieces I’ve ever seen
I know!! I first got introduced her when she was on nbc's world of dance and since then, been like vaguely following her career. So so talented!!

@@KH-hr5xm it seems more balance because dance is actually a part of their learning system. not like before where she has a different schedule of each. Its good for her cuz like 12:30am as your bedtime, not really good but surprisingly she's doing great and now she's doing better now
Omg someone said it, In the first video I was like “less than 6 hours of sleep is NOT sustainable for this girl” and I’m so happy she’s getting some hard earned rest now.
Kayla is THAT girl 🤩🥺 herself discipline, commitment and TALENT inspires me hats off for the queen
I'm a dancer too and discipline and motivation I've learned isn't something that naturally comes up to you. My motto to myself is just to shut up and do it or you'll regret it later. Of couse sometimes I break my own rules. But if you struggle with procrastination remind yourself to just do it and that you are working to make youself happier

I feel so happy for her that she lives in a healthier way now, I mean her sleep time, cause I was hooked by how little she slept in the earlier video when she is in high school. Anyway, feel so happy for her and love her so so much! Btw, I can't imagine sleeping 6 hours a day, I, personally, have to sleep 9 hours to stay sane. I was 14 though...
She seems really healthy and thriving but her sleep actually could really improve, staying up past 1am doing homework and waking up at 730 everyday :-/

If you have classes in the morning you can't wake up past 9. So it only works for people who have classes later, or who skip all the time.

Kayla seems like a really positive and inspirational person. It's important for viewers to remember that Julliard is extremely controversial regarding insane fee increases and locking in students then locking them out - just last year.
I remember watching that video posted 2 years ago and falling in love with ballet afterwards. It's so good seeing her again!

Kayla, is such a powerful, graceful and poetic dancer. I understand how we All question ourselves as dancers even as professionals. She should remember she held her Own against Professionals in World of Dance. She made it to the Divisional Cut. Many, MANY tried and true adult Professional dancers didn’t even make it past the audition. That speaks volumes for he character, technique, power, love of dance and dedication to the art form. She’s a shooting Star!

I relate with so much of this- I go to Eastman School of Music & it is so hard to balance schoolwork, practice, dealing with imposter syndrome, etc. Being a performing artist is hard!!! we've got this :)
