there was a little detail i loved, when donalds put the stone to stop the ray from the sword to save scrooge he says "Donald duck" and donald respond "Uncle scrooge" this was the first thing they said each other on the first episode closing they relation on a full circle
Agreed. Those kinds of details were great. Theres another moment like that earlier in the episode when Launchpad put on the gizmo suit and says “I am a pilot” like how he said many times in the first episode
Yeah, that moment was epic.... My heart was beating so fast when during that scene.... And when they were like.... "Donald Duck... ", "Uncle Scrooge...." it was totally icing, on the icing, on the icing on the cake...... (I just realized that's not enough icing to describe the finale....)
I was hoping Scrooge would end off saying “Huey, louie, The third one” and say something else about his family as a little call back to the first episode
The show actually foreshadowed Webby being Scrooge's clone/daughter a couple of times by having her dress as him. Naturally, we saw it as Webby admiring Scrooge and taking after him as his niece.
LP has his moments even when he is smart, like the time he fixed the plane up when Della tried to fix it but only made it worse, however it got fixed with a low tech solution
The fact that they turned Manny the Headless Manhorse (who was already a great character on his own) into a Gargoyles reference was absolutely amazing!!
Manny is Keith David: "Ooh, cool, Keith David." Has the stone moment: "Heh, that's funny 'cause Gargoyles." Gargoyles theme actually plays: "WAIT A MINUTE"
I was grinning like an idiot the second I Heard Kieth David's voice. I knew the reference was coming and I couldn't wait to see how they were gonna pull it off. Was not disappointed.
I like how Webby being Scrooge's clone wasn't enough to retrieve the papyrus (that's why they couldn't just make June or May get it), it was her experiences as part of the McDuck family that made Webby Scrooge's true heir.
Right....because otherwise May or June would probably be able to to the same.... I was kind of unsure how I felt about the twist because it kind of clashes with the found family theme but this gave me New perspective on it. Now I feel easier about it. Don't get me wrong, I adored the episode before as well, just felt a bit iffy about that one aspect. But I Like the episode eveen more now!
@@elenanojkovic2554 I get what you mean, and I saw that sentiment echoed a lot! Personally, I feel like the finale (and the show in general) hammers in the found family theme so much this is hardly enough to undermine it. That's also shown in how Webby still sees Beakley as her real grandma, even though there's no real blood relation between them.
@@matti.8465 As I Said, it was a minor issue for me. I mean, as you said, webby learns that she is not related to her and still calls her granny. Also she refers to Lena and Violet as her sisters and later on Lena tells June she belongs with them. Plus Scrooge says 'my whole family" or "my entire family" and a bunch of People including Selene, Goldie, Gyro, Penumbra etc are right there so, yeah. I'm still INCREDIBLY happy with this episode. I was somewhat sceptical considering that there were finales that pretty much ruined shows for me. But when my biggest complaints are 'the message is a bit iffy, but still fine' and 'I wish there was more Goldie', you know the episode was AMAZING. Just the fact that May and June, Webby's literal clones , who were introduced on this very episode and had to share the screen time with, Like, 20 other characters still mannaged to have somewhat different personalities, is worth praise.
To bad nobody else who has that connection to Scrooge could get it. Almost like their relation to him didn’t actually matter because they weren’t directly related to him
The Webby revelation ran deeper than you think: The Papyrus of Binding officially states that it can only be claimed by Scrooge's "true heir". Yet, both May and June are considered failed experiments even though they're both clones like April. The message here is, a true heir (aka family) is not only by blood but by bond as well. Blood of the covenant is thicker than water of the womb.
I loved the ending. Mostly because the show ended but the story in the show did not. Scrooge and his giant family still have adventures to go on. Magica, Ma beagle, and Glomgold seem to be united. The show is over but the characters still have a lot more ahead of them.
It is interesting that Magica helped Glomgold and Ma Beagle escape the Library with no apparent gain for herself AND that she and Ma no longer seem to hold it against Glomgold for planning to steal their funds only to lose them Louie. Guess their experience at the Karmic Court reinvigorated their unity over their shared hatred of Scrooge.
I love the reveal for Manny that the friendly headless intern who started a new normal life was THE HEADLESS MAN-HORSE OF THE APOCALYPSE, *MOST POWERFUL AND MYSTICAL CREATURE KNOWN TO MAN* and the fact it was done as a GARGOYLES reference of all things
That was probably the only way Disney would let them reference Gargoyles, kind of like they totally let them reference Wuzzles, just only using context clues and purposely having the characters' names said wrong.
Manny was one of the funniest characters in the show for me, I laughed out loud at his "I can explain" line on the finale. It's amazing how they managed to make a weird, mute, headless man-horse such a character.
Believe or not, the strongest moment to me was the moment after the battle when Webby and Scrooge reunited as a Father and Daughter and when they wanted Beakley to be part of that too. 🤗
The twist that Scrooge has a clone daughter, is the greatest Doctor Who reference they could make with David Tennant voicing him! Absolutely loved it! Also caught the "reversing the polarity" bit though 😁
The Gargoyles reference really got me. I was convinced that since it was the one Disney Afternoon show with a strong emphasis on human characters that the creators just wouldn't be able to fit it in. So color me surprised when Keith David shows up as Manny's voice! Truly awesome.
You know, I was not surprised. I didn't expect it, but when it appeared it didn't seem out of place. Like yep, we had Wuzzles and Rescue Rangers, time for a gargoyle.
Webby being Scrooge's clone daughter is very similar to one of David Tennant's Doctor Who stories where he gets a clone/daughter who's actress actually became his real life wife.
It's always bugged me that the Doctor Who writers seem so hell bent on never bringing that up ever again. I'm glad at least one of Tennants clone daughters got to have a good relationship with her dad.
When the kids stated their reasons to come along, and Lena and Violet just said "It's Webby," even *I* wanted to get the hell out of their way. Amazing delivery by the voice actors!
Yeah. If the kids ever make a return (and they will), I hope they get the actors to reprise their role, especially in the case of the triplets, Webby, Lena and Violet.
@@spencersholden specifically, this is the ending they planned after learning they weren’t renewed for a 4th season. They would’ve taken one if offered.
I love how in the beginning of the episode, the band at Webby’s party was playing the DuckTales theme so the theme can still be in the episode even with the opening getting skipped.
Hm...hypothetically, the whole "Family is the Greatest Adventure Of All" thing would work. Depending on how Bradford defined what an "Adventure" is in the contract. It seems like Bradford defined "Adventure" as an unpredictable expedition with a near unpredictable outcome that you can control certain aspects of. In that regard...yeah Family is an adventure.
One of my favorite things is the parallels between the two biggest reveals in the episode; the absolute shock on webby’s face and the small “wait, what?” Finding the clones compared to Scrooge’s own shock and his own small “wait, what?” Finding out about webby
I still wished this show coulda gotten at least one more season, but this finale was good enough. Ducktales will go down as one of my favorite animated shows
The whole thing with Manny being Goliath was just SOOOO awesome. I totally freaked out while watching. I just love they even got Keith David to voice him and the Gargoyles theme song playing was just awesome!! "I live again...again!" *lol* :D I figured out the whole Webby thing in "The First Adventure" episode. I figured it would be she who would find the scroll again. Just didn't expect her to be April.
Scrooge technically did have a biological child in the comics with Goldie but we (and Scrooge) never met them. Instead, we met his granddaughter Dickie Duck.
@@PeacefullSky90 oh wait now I remember. In was in a story that was released years ago in Italy but IDW published it in the US a few years ago. It was called The Miners Grandaughter.
Considering why Scrooge's family is so big IS due to adventure, within context of the show...it's not really stupid at all. Ducktales earned it. Most of the show was a lesson in family. Those adventures indeed wouldn't mean much if it weren't for it being the McDuck and Donald Duck clan. So, yeah, it's cheesy but Ducktales earned it.
@@franciscorui Exactly. The scroll actively tries to screw over the wisher half the time by being as literal as it can. Webby wasn't just scrooges heir by genetics, but also by personality. Bradford having the scroll try to lock scrooge from adventure forever and getting screwed over because of a really small loophole just makes sense
Yeah, I thought it worked pretty well for two reasons: 1. "Family is the greatest adventure of all" isn't just an underlying theme, it's essentially a McDuck family motto in universe. It's a major part of how they all relate to each other. 2. Bradford being defeated by the Papyrus plays into another major theme - that in his quest to reign in chaos, Bradford became exactly the kind of villain that he despised. In "The First Adventure", he describes the Papyrus as a font of chaos, and uses it only out of desperation. Here, it's the foundation of his entire plan. Like the Split Sword of Swanstantine, it shows how far he's fallen.
My favorite part of that moment was how much Danni Pudi (Huey's VA) clearly adored that he got to say that line. I can't even cringe, the joy is so genuine XD
@@bradbradthebrad Theyve been coy about it refusing to confirm or deny, but its a different production company, different set of writers and different target audience.
This show has done so much for the triplets and Webby beyond what comics and previous shows tried to do. It took these very static characters, gave them distinct personalities with their own hopes and fears, and it gave them all futures or legacies if you will. Huey pursuing science and not being afraid of how chaotic things may get and maybe even finding it exciting to stray from the beaten path (unlike Bradford who has no such “Duke of Making a Mess” to speak of). Dewey following Launchpad and Della as a pilot. Louie going into law. Webby becoming an adventurer like her idols Scrooge and to a lesser extent Della (which is why her time with Della earlier in the season was pretty important). These futures also play off of their respective strengths and personalities and their growths as characters while still being interconnected and supportive of each other in their careers and as a family. Looking forward to seeing what lies ahead with the podcast. Also part of me really wants to hear Ace Attorney lines from Louie (I’m sure Sam could give Bobby some pointers). Also also Webby’s new lot in life kinda reminds me of the DCAU episode Epilogue. Just as the world needs a Batman, the Duck world needs a Scrooge McDuck, and with Webby around they won’t be lacking one for a long time to come.
Static? There was nothing static about them. The original 1987 DID give the kids DISTINCT personalities without being in your face about it. All this reboot did was destroy established character traits and add in unnecessary twists. Not to mention they completely ignored the canon lore that April and Webby were separate girls. April, May, and June are actually Daisy's biological nieces.
It's just so sad that we didn't get enough interaction of Louie and Della, i felt like they needed more screen time together considering Louie and Della doesn't seem to be that close
By this statement i meant an actual motherly bonding with Louie and Della because the only bond they had was when Della saved Louie and Louie comfort Della, we also had an episode when Della ground Louie which is pretty bitter considering Della was also kinda in the wrong in that situation and that Dewey and Huey got an episode where they simply hung out, plus Louie was more in denial when Della came considering she came back when they were older.
They did such a good job with this but there's still a lot of answers to be discovered! Hopefully we'll get that in Darkwing Duck!( such as WHERE'S NEGADUCK?!)
@@LizardOfOz69 I'm pretty sure they would. This won't be the the original where the creator says ' the 2 aren't connected.' But we'll see when it debuts.
@jf k I mean, not only is the show not going to have Ducktales cameos, it's not going to be the same continuity. That was the agreement that the creators of this new show wanted.
I would like to say on behalf of myself thank you for the hard work you've put into reviewing ducktales all these years. You clearly know your ducks and it shows. I look forward to what comes next for your channel!

I have been coming up with “full” names for May and June, if Webby decides to take “April” as her middle name: *Webbygail “Webby” April Vanderquack* *Jacqueline “Jacky” May Vanderquack* *Katherine “Kathy” June Vanderquack* I just want them to be happy too... edit: and with their spunk I can see Beakley and Scrooge taking a liking to the girls and raise them too.
This has been an awesome show. It had an wonderful ending. It warmed my heart when Webby called Scrooge her dad ❤️. Thank you everyone that worked on this show. Face each new sun with eyes clear and true. Unafraid of the unknown, because I’ll face it all with you ⭐️☀️❤️
So web by is the Ducktors daughter. Reminds me of an episode of Dr. Who , played by the voice of Scrooge McDuck, where a female clone was made from him.
It was a fitting series ending, while at the same time leaving many openings for the future. Just like life. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you, Seaniccus, it was a thrilling adventure :)
There will be a Rescue Rangers reboot movie on Disney Plus, but it won’t be related to DuckTales and will instead be a live action CGI hybrid like The Smurfs movies and the recent Tom And Jerry movie. A complete wasted opportunity in my opinion.
I had to look up their names because I forgot but yeah I connected it before the reveal. I didn’t see the clone of Scrooge part until that was revealed but I did put together April, May, and June.
I also love the central theme of not only the importance of family, but FOUND family and the fact that family is so much more than just being blood-related. Take Gyro and Boyd- he once loved him as his own son, and they found each other again after so long (and I'd like to think that Gyro's life became changed for the better after both learning the truth about his haunted past and getting his beloved son back in his life). And look at Gosalyn- she lost her family, but she ultimately found new family in Darkwing and even LP. And so many of Scrooge's close outside circle are considered his extended family.
So what about Boyd and the drakes? Why isn’t that family explored? Gosalyn isn’t explored at all, but because darkwing duck has a lore this was already established before ducktales.
To be fair, Ducktales 2017 was prematurely cancelled. It’s likely that if they had had the time, the writers would have explored those relationships further. However considering they knew beforehand that they only had one season left it’s likely they wanted to set their priorities elsewhere.
Two points I think worth making. First, as far as the contract is concerned... if you can't accept that the cheesy, Saturday Morning Cartoony end message is a real reason the contract fall flat, there's actually a better reason that basically leads to the same thing. Scrooge agreed not to adventure again for living with his family, but he has a family of adventurers. So long as they don't agree to the same terms, they are going to keep going on adventures, and to be a part of that, he has to do the same. The contract is basically void unless all of the Duck family agrees to it, which Bradford didn't account for. The second point is the possibility of a Season 4 that would have been focused on Webby. If you think about it, for everything this finale does, including things not mentioned like Donald wanting to go on a long vacation with Daisy just the two of them and Della not being okay with that which is an interesting story piece in itself because it shows how much Della still cares about Donald despite how much they fight, if you take all the character moments and big reveals and flesh them out into one episode a piece, you could very easily make a season out of that. It's amazing that they had the ability to fit so much into a single 90 minute special and still wrap it up in a satisfying way. Good job, Ducktales and thanks for the memories.
You are correct in every possible sense. I was surprised that the cheesy message was the reason for Brad's failure as much as anyone, but it was satisfying, that like Lunaris before him, he was defeated by something he underestimated (the 80th reason why he's more of a villain, whatever he says to the contrary. Black Heron would have loved that, knowing that in the end, she was right all along; a villain's greatest triumph, in both cartoons and real-life alike)
Well, there is a thing i would want to add about the contract: Bradford would not be foolish enough to let it slid anything that would undo his plans. I feel the plan was to make the contract to stop Scrooge from meddling with FOWL and once he was left alone and bitter....they could have a free reign to eliminate anything related to adventures without much opossition. The flaw however, was that he saw adventuring as the thing that tore apart a family, as he prooved with the Spear of Selene and his own life. But with adventuring having such a grey concept adn many areas, and never moving on from his own past.....it created a blindspot that was way too late for that buzzard to see until it was too late.
I stopped doing that in season 1 when I got obsessed with the theory that she was somehow connected with Della. Ended up being wrong but it was fun while it lasted.
I think you mean they will shut up shipping the triplets with Webby? Because there is still people who can still ship her with Lena to be honest. I don't know about you but personally, I don't have much of a problem with that though. As long as it's NOT flipping HDL x Webby because they are family so it is now 100% confirmed incest and that is what makes it wrong with people shipping them, not simply because theyre kids. Although you people are valid too if you don't like shipping the kids as well but that never was the main problem to me?
Wait I just noticed somethings 1 morty and ferdie never got to appear on the show and 2 anytime I've went on webby it cut to commercial like saying something big is going to happen to webby
@@yesicalicht4882 To show how much off a monster Bradford was and how FOWL wasn't going to sita nd wait for someone else to ruin their plans. He even had Santa Claus, and the dog named Good Boy captured
This was a wonderful finale on so many levels. Webby's relation to Scrooge could have easily been as cringe and poorly done as Rey in RoS but I think they did it well. Surprised you didnt touch on Donald's closure arc. So glad he got a little focus in this crazy huge finale, taking some much needed time to himself and cementing that Scrooge loves him, signing the contract with zero hesitation when Bradford threatens Donald specifically, referring to him as Scrooges most trusted companion. A Quack Pack special detailing his trip would be fun. Also hope a Darkwing spinoff is in the works, they never followed up on Negaduck.
Except it is cringe. All it did was show Webby meant nothing to him until he discovered him dna was in her. In the 1987 version, that was never a thing and Scrooge actually loved Webby better in that series because blood relation didn't matter to him.
It is sad to see this show go but it’s very long finale was the perfect wrap. It made a lot of sense to do a very Webby focused finale because she never got her focus season but it still felt like this finale still put focus on Huey without stealing attention. And having Donald being the one that they would lose if the contract wasn’t signed is so powerful because even though Donald is not on screen as much as Scrooge, Webby, the triplets, Launchpad, and Beakley he is the one that has put a lot of the characters together. Donald may never have seemed adventure like every other character but adventure always came to him even when he was away from his family and accidentally got sent to space looking for Della.
One thing that really interest me was Donald and Daisy apparently going to take May and June on their trip. Considering Donald's past experience as a parental figure, it would have been a nice sight to see more of that with Daisy and taking May and June under their wing. Anyone else notice May and June being grouped together with Lena and Violet during the fall? I wonder if it means something too.
Well, since Webby is part of their circle of friends too, maybe we’ll get a one-shot Disney+ special involving Webby, Lena, Violet, May and June. or maybe a one-shot special involving all the kids.
Before I really knew Ducktales was a thing, I saw a UA-cam video titled "Scrooge McDuck's daughter" to which my reaction, needless to say, was "Scrooge McDuck has daughter!?" That video is what got me interested in watching the show. So, I watched the whole series already knowing the finale twist. Sometimes it sucked being spoiled, but in a lot of ways it was fun to know what clues meant before the characters did and catch things most viewers wouldn't on a first viewing. A great part was watching these videos and seeing what people thought about certain plot points at the time the episodes originally aired without the same information I did.
I'll miss your reviews. I only watch Ducktales and no other tv shows. What an ending! So many early-season call-backs. All major threads tied up, an amazing final episode. I seriously hope they make a movie or 2 later.
Thanks man, I appreciate that! I'll have more videos, but not completely sure on what. I'll have more things to say about DuckTales over time. I need to take a short break for awhile though.
@@WolfRamAndHart I saw that! Man those videos are super old! They're still all up in my old playlist. I'm not 100% sure I wanna reupload them though, my style has changed a lot.
Also, the "Family is the Greatest Adventure" theme was in the pilot episode, so it was neat to bring it full circle and have it be part of the last one.
So many twists in this episode! Webby being April, a clone , & Scrooge’s daughter Bradford betraying Black Heron Ludwig Von Drake being alive Bradford being the one who revealed the Spear of Selene to Della Bradford being Isabella Finch’s grandson! Manny being a reference to Gargoyles Which twist caught you the most off guard
Manny turning out to be a motherfking GARGOYLE was the absolute highlight of the series. The moment those horns started playing I was bouncing in my seat and screaming with glee. Of all the Disney Afternoon shows to be included in the series, I NEVER suspected Gargoyles would be one they would give any thought to, and it was a fantastic surprise.
First Regular show, then gravity falls, next Adventure time, and finally Ducktales, thanks for making shows that have a point to prove that are satisfying and that continue to make me love cartoons and prove their worth in the TV and film industry
We don't get too much of the three yeah but I guess since he raised them it's just implied that everything that the kids are and who they are is a result from that. Plus they didn't know he was leaving here
That's actually horrible. He should have been overprotective of her regardless. At least in the true series, blood didn't matter to him and he still adored Webby as much as he did his nephews.
I wish I got 5 bucks for every time the word "Family" was said in this episode! I couldn't pry the smile from my face when I heard Manny's voice. That smile turned into a mad laugh of sheer fanboy glee when the Gargoyles theme kicked in during Manny's transformation. I do have one question about the episode: who or what kept turning on all the lights in those boxes? Them turning on to reveal their contents ended up inspiring a lot of the heroic moments; it seems like something Bradford wouldn't give those inside the chambers control over. Anyone have any ideas on that front?
Just because the series is over doesn't really have to mean the content related to it is dry. Some deeper dives into the lore. Going back to rewatch and look at it sgain in hindsight knowing more context, a tribute to how it brought the Disney Afternoon into its universe snd why, rewatching the old shows and reviewing that, etc.
This doesn't hold a candle to the the Disney Afternoon. If anything, all this did was tear the original cartoons to pieces and ignored everything established in the original lore for each.
Hopefully 'This Duckburg Life' will atleast be a nice little Ducktales spin-off for awhile. _I wonder if Blot and Pepper got their own cell..._ _and if Don Karnage got a proper burial..._ Though I do love how Steelbeak is effected by the Intelleray perpetually due to the third-eye diamond shattering, as I believe the diamond is required for mind control, but the intelligence gained from it is forever, since the Rescue Rangers would stay the same. _Which may lead to a more cunning foe if the rumours of a Darkwing Duck show are to be believed._
@@jadenmamangon9016 From what we've seen, Don's plane has never crashed like that before. The previous defeats have all lead to Don parachuting out of his plane before impact. I'm not saying it isn't possible, I'm just saying it's alittle weird that there wasn't atleast one scene of the F.O.W.L agents getting captured.
@@Mr.Z2311 it’s possible that the living F.O.W.L. agents will regroup and return in the Darkwing Reboot (if it takes place in this universe) since Steelbeak didn’t die and just ran off, also they would not kill a character off with that kind of personality in a stereotypical plane crash
The end-credits were SO well done. I loved each character getting caught and carried away by their loved ones/those closest to them, starting with the supporting characters (like Gyro and Fenton), going into the main cast, until we're finally left with the boys, then Webby, then finally the family patriarch himself. Off each group went, one by one. It was very much like the end of a play, with each character coming out to take their bows. It gave me all the feels.
There were so many things about DuckTales that made me think of Doctor Who. Including Webby being a clone of Scrooge. When David Tennant was the Doctor they had an episode where he was cloned and this girl was essentially his daughter. The episode was called “The Doctor’s Daughter”. I really liked that twist at the end of DuckTales. I wish we had one more season because I’d love to see what they do with Webby’s relationship with Scrooge.
Great ending to the series. Thank you for the reviews over the years. They've been fun to watch and the detail for not just the lore, but the discussion on story and character development was really enjoyable. I hope you continue with doing more of these kinds of things in the future. That said... I find it really funny that Von Drake is still alive in the series merely because he just never got around to dying XD.
As sad as it is to see this show end, I'm at least glad they finished in an epic and satisfying way. For the most part, the "Ducktales 2017" crew did an incredible job cramming so many characters into an hour-long story and allowing each of them a chance to shine. Some of my favorite parts include Webby bonding with her clones/sisters and later infiltrating FOWL, Darkwing and Gizmoduck's rivalry, Donald and Della teaming with Scrooge, and Huey learning more about Bradford's motivations. Also, the fact that Ludwig von Drake is alive and well was a pleasant surprise. Speaking of surprises, my most favorite scene has to be the big reveal with Manny the Headless Man-Horse. I was absolutely thrilled when he turned out to be this show's version of Goliath from "Gargoyles," right down to having Keith David voice him. It's the perfect cap off to all of the Disney Afternoon references in this show. I still wish Daisy and maybe some of the other one-shot characters got a chance to fight FOWL, like have Kit and Molly use their circus stunts to fight some Eggheads, or Panchito, Jose, and Daisy tag team with Donald and Della to battle the mind-controlled villains. As for the twist with Webby being Scrooge's clone/daughter, I'm kind of on the fence about that. On one hand, I admire all the buildup that went into this plot point and it's an interesting way of redefining their relationship. But on the other hand, it kind of takes away the message of how family doesn't have to mean being related by blood. Although, you could say it still works regarding her relationship with Mrs. Beakley, since the latter adopted Webby. But with all that aside, I still appreciate everything this show has done and I wish Matt, Frank, and the rest of the "Ducktales 2017" crew the best of luck with their future. For the last time, all I can say is, "Ducktales! WOO-HOO!"
I just have somethings so funny to say. In the french version, Scrooge (Picsou) is voice by Jean-Claude Donda and Webby (Zaza) is voice by Camille Donda. Their french voices actors are father and daughter.
Great we learn that Bradford was behind Della's disappearance by leaking the Spear of Selene causing the family to be torn apart for ten years. Bradford was a coward. I like what Magica did to him at the end. I hope we get to see Scrooge and his family again in the future. For now, they can go on so many adventures. :D
This series was perhaps the best possible result one could get out of a reboot. It hits all those nostalgia buttons, gives ya somethings the old show didn't, filled with a deep love of the subject, beautifully rendered, and in a lot of ways able to transcend the original. Every time someone is going to reboot a show they need to ask themselves if they are gonna put this level of love in first because wow.
If I had one complaint about this sudden ending of Ducktales, it would be that we never got that Nega-Duck episode. Otherwise, this was a fantastic ending to a fantastic show. I didn't expect a Gargoyle reference in this show and I definitely did NOT expect it to come from Manny. Music cue included.
As the other commenter said, it's been heavily implied that there's going to be a Darkwing Duck Reboot, if it hasn't been downright confirmed. So you can probably expect him to show up in the future. Still though, I am upset that it wasn't in the main series.
I'm so happy with what they did with Webby's character. It makes so much sense and it's such a happy ending for her. She Always wanted to be a part of the McDuck family and now she knows she has always been
You know, Steel Beak was never caught. Not to mention a certain actor turned chainsaw enthusiast. And there's still the plot thread of Gosalyn's grandfather being missing. Possible tie ins for the Darkwing Duck series?
Watched the first episode of Season 1 after watching the series finale - and noticed something REALLY COOL...A few moments after Webby is introduced, she strikes a pose in front of a statue of Scrooge. (She’s facing the boys, and the statue is at her back.) When she lands in her pose, they’re both standing the exact same way - and their expressions match, too! :) A clue to the finale from the very beginning??? :) Also, in the finale, May asks Webby if she’s ever eaten a hamburger - which is something Webby mentions wanting to do in the first episode. :) Cute callback! ;)
Once the cloning and Webby-focus was spilled ahead of the episode I made a pretty confident guess how it was going to play out, but it was still a well-written reveal, I felt. And unlike comments I've seen from others, I don't think it undermines the show's found family theme _at all._ If anything, it reinforces it. They all three ALL share Scrooge's DNA, but only Webby could get the Papyrus because blood relation or not she was part of the family and one of his heirs.
The clone idea with Webby wasn't that bad of an idea I liked it. It was at least something new especially since we never got a backstory in the show regarding her family just having her and her grandmother
I felt ducktales should of had three more seasons as i felt there was still more to tell and more to adventures to go into as i felt had there been a 4th season they could've done the Duckthulhu storyline from the darkwing duck comics with Scrooge finding the lost book and how Merlock and his group of followers plan to summon the old one
@@yesicalicht4882 it was always intended to end on season 3, Frank confirmed this. As a lifelong Dutch Disney duck fan the Webby/Lizzy/April reveal was the most satisfying moment in the show for me. I've always seen Webby as an adaptation of Lizzy/April even in the original Ducktales, and spent most of the reboot very frustrated with the Dutch version for switching her name back to Webby(and with all the other characters still going by their Dutch names I get the feeling this was planned from day one), so to have it confirmed in the end that she was still the same character after all was just amazing
Lena and Webby are cloned from arch enemies and yet they're still friends. That's actually kinda beautiful and adorable.
Well technically one is a clone FROM an arch enemy and one is a clone BY an arch enemy but the point still stands.

there was a little detail i loved, when donalds put the stone to stop the ray from the sword to save scrooge he says "Donald duck" and donald respond "Uncle scrooge" this was the first thing they said each other on the first episode closing they relation on a full circle
I went Aww! In that scene, and the reference was NOT lost on me! This show's amazing with the tiniest of details man.
So, a stone blocking a sword instead of the trope of a sword from a stone?
I was hoping Scrooge would end off saying “Huey, louie, The third one” and say something else about his family as a little call back to the first episode
The show actually foreshadowed Webby being Scrooge's clone/daughter a couple of times by having her dress as him. Naturally, we saw it as Webby admiring Scrooge and taking after him as his niece.

The fact that they turned Manny the Headless Manhorse (who was already a great character on his own) into a Gargoyles reference was absolutely amazing!!
They found a loophole with it and I love it ^^
Ohhhhh!😮thats why hes voices by Keith David!!
Manny is Keith David: "Ooh, cool, Keith David."

I like how Webby being Scrooge's clone wasn't enough to retrieve the papyrus (that's why they couldn't just make June or May get it), it was her experiences as part of the McDuck family that made Webby Scrooge's true heir.
Whoa that IS profound
Almost like their relation to him didn’t actually matter because they weren’t directly related to him
The Webby revelation ran deeper than you think:
The Papyrus of Binding officially states that it can only be claimed by Scrooge's "true heir".
Yet, both May and June are considered failed experiments even though they're both clones like April.
The message here is, a true heir (aka family) is not only by blood but by bond as well.
Blood of the covenant is thicker than water of the womb.

It is interesting that Magica helped Glomgold and Ma Beagle escape the Library with no apparent gain for herself AND that she and Ma no longer seem to hold it against Glomgold for planning to steal their funds only to lose them Louie. I love the fact that this all started from a horse with Scrooge’s statue head
That was probably the only way Disney would let them reference Gargoyles, kind of like they totally let them reference Wuzzles, just only using context clues and purposely having the characters' names said wrong.

yeah...Im here heartbroken now that I've been able to see the finals
I love how in the beginning of the episode, the band at Webby’s party was playing the DuckTales theme so the theme can still be in the episode even with the opening getting skipped.
Hm...hypothetically, the whole "Family is the Greatest Adventure Of All" thing would work. Depending on how Bradford defined what an "Adventure" is in the contract.
It seems like Bradford defined "Adventure" as an unpredictable expedition with a near unpredictable outcome that you can control certain aspects of. In that regard...yeah Family is an adventure.
And what's more unpredictable than family? So ergo, the contract is contradicting itself.

Also the scroll can take any wish placed on it and twist it, so the whole adventure is family thing would work for the scroll
@@franciscorui yea the first adventure established how literal it could be
@@franciscorui Exactly. The scroll actively tries to screw over the wisher half the time by being as literal as it can. Webby wasn't just scrooges heir by genetics, but also by personality. Bradford having the scroll try to lock scrooge from adventure forever and getting screwed over because of a really small loophole just makes sense
Yeah, I thought it worked pretty well for two reasons:

And the fact that FAMILY IS THE GREATEST ADVENTURE OF ALL!!!!😈
Of course even simpler, a contract signed under duress isn't binding.
YES 100%
Well, there is a thing i would want to add about the contract:
Bradford would not be foolish enough to let it slid anything that would undo his plans.
On the bright side, fans can shut up about shipping anyone with Webby now😅

Goodbye DuckTales 2017 you had a good run and we’ll all miss you may your soul find a peaceful rest in Cartoon Heaven.
Alongside Kipo and OK KO. Hopefully new cartoons will fill in the void.

An incredibly satisfying ending to one of my favourite shows I think I've ever seen
You might like Gargoyles the Animated Series. Great storytelling, great voice acting, and great myths and legends
Thanks man, I appreciate that! I'll have more videos, but not completely sure on what. I'll have more things to say about DuckTales over time. I need to take a short break for awhile though.
The possibility of DuckTales having a movie have been going around recently, so it's not impossible.
@@seaniccus Since Real Ghostbusters is being released on youtube for free, can you re-release your commentary videos for ease of use?
@@WolfRamAndHart I saw that! Man those videos are super old!
They're still all up in my old playlist. I'm not 100% sure I wanna reupload them though, my style has changed a lot.
Also, the "Family is the Greatest Adventure" theme was in the pilot episode, so it was neat to bring it full circle and have it be part of the last one.
There’s gonna be a podcast Ducktales life’s soon
Its better than nothing
So many twists in this episode!
Webby being April, a clone , & Scrooge’s daughter
Bradford betraying Black Heron
Ludwig Von Drake being alive
Bradford being the one who revealed the Spear of Selene to Della
Bradford being Isabella Finch’s grandson!
Manny being a reference to Gargoyles
Which twist caught you the most off guard
Von Drake being alive
imagine showing this post to someone in 2016
Yes
That the other vultures were clones of Bradford!
Don’t forget Manny, THE HEADLESS MAN-HORSE OF THE APOCALYPSE, *MOST POWERFUL MYSTICAL CREATURE KNOWN TO MAN* who has the voice of Keith David himself!
That was my reaction as well.
First Regular show, then gravity falls, next Adventure time, and finally Ducktales, thanks for making shows that have a point to prove that are satisfying and that continue to make me love cartoons and prove their worth in the TV and film industry
Season 1 Scrooge: YOU ARE NOT FAMILY
Season 3: *You sure about that?*
Kind of hope Donald had a bigger role with his nephews considering he raised them 😣
We don't get too much of the three yeah but I guess since he raised them it's just implied that everything that the kids are and who they are is a result from that. Plus they didn't know he was leaving here
i love that when scrooge learn webby his kid he super overportavtd of her
That's actually horrible.
"He paid full price." I have to admit, having watched the finale, seeing that got me the second time.
Hopefully 'This Duckburg Life'
will atleast be a nice little Ducktales spin-off for awhile.
_I wonder if Blot and Pepper got their own cell..._
_and if Don Karnage got a proper burial..._
Though I do love how Steelbeak is effected by the Intelleray perpetually due to the third-eye diamond shattering, as I believe the diamond is required for mind control, but the intelligence gained from it is forever, since the Rescue Rangers would stay the same.
_Which may lead to a more cunning foe if the rumours of a Darkwing Duck show are to be believed._
Okah for Don Karnage we don't know if he survived or not.
@@disneyboy3030 Unless they intend to somehow resurrect the Disney Afternoon, He's probably dead.
The Sunchaser crashes just as badly as Don’s plane does all the time, and no one has ever died there due to the crash. Don might still be alive.
What kind of maniac could keep the Scrooge's family in boxes?
(looks at Seaniccus' funko pops)
WOO-HOO!"
Della talking to Donald actually was the writers/producers/staff talking to us. Telling us not to feel sad because adventures were at the end.
I just have somethings so funny to say. In the french version, Scrooge (Picsou) is voice by Jean-Claude Donda and Webby (Zaza) is voice by Camille Donda. Their french voices actors are father and daughter.
You know I'm glad that I'm a big fan of this back in 2017 I was curious about ducktales and now I'm a huge fan
It was a great ride and thankful for them bringing light back to my childhood. You will be missed Ducktales 2017 Reboot 😗
One thing missing: Who was Louie, Dewy, and Huey's dad? Never explained... 😑
Some things aren't as important
@@jroxpone - Yeah, I guess. He's only their father... 😏
Probably Donald...
@@RocketeerAndRoll - Dude! Ewwww! 😖 Della is his twin sister! 😖
Probably find out in the reboot of this reboot
If I had one complaint about this sudden ending of Ducktales, it would be that we never got that Nega-Duck episode. Otherwise, this was a fantastic ending to a fantastic show. I didn't expect a Gargoyle reference in this show and I definitely did NOT expect it to come from Manny. Music cue included.
If dark wing duck reboot is connected to ducktales 2017, I think that’s where nega duck is gonna be transferred
As the other commenter said, it's been heavily implied that there's going to be a Darkwing Duck Reboot, if it hasn't been downright confirmed. So you can probably expect him to show up in the future. Still though, I am upset that it wasn't in the main series.
@@octodaddy877 It has been confirmed. A DW reboot has been in the works at Disney plus as of last November.
Apparently Negaduck was supposed to be important in Let’s Get Dangerous, but he was cut because they writers didn’t know how to fit him in.
That's a shame :/
I'm so happy with what they did with Webby's character. It makes so much sense and it's such a happy ending for her. She Always wanted to be a part of the McDuck family and now she knows she has always been
I absolutely love how Launchpad had the correct theory.
You know, Steel Beak was never caught. Not to mention a certain actor turned chainsaw enthusiast. And there's still the plot thread of Gosalyn's grandfather being missing. Possible tie ins for the Darkwing Duck series?
Apparently the Darkwing Duck reboot won't be set in this canon...
@@uncannydcmarvelous5732 im sorry, WHAT?!
Ducktales 2017 is one of the VERY few times where a reboot not only lives up to the original, but far surpasses it.
If Ducktales is a master at anything, it is at seamlessly introducing characters, old and new.
Also, in the finale, May asks Webby if she’s ever eaten a hamburger - which is something Webby mentions wanting to do in the first episode. :) Cute callback! ;)
20:27 I just realized that Bradford stapled an ancient artifact 😅
I found this dude halfway through his journey and forgot about him now I feel like I have been with him all the way through
Once the cloning and Webby-focus was spilled ahead of the episode I made a pretty confident guess how it was going to play out, but it was still a well-written reveal, I felt.
@jf k Which old film? I remember the movie with the genie and the lamp but don't remember another one made.
I hope this reboot gets a movie where the triplets and Webby are teenagers...or a crossover between the 1987 original and this show.
I love that Bradford is kind of a dark reflection of the Boys. I half expected them to make him one of triplets.
This might be the best series finale I have ever seen for a show. It’s just pure perfection.
I also wish it got more but then it will get milked
Well they were supposed to make the 4th season too, but some plans changed and needed to put it in the 3rd.
At least we got what we got.
Only thing I wish we could've seen was the triplet's father. But other than that, it was a great finale.
@@yesicalicht4882 it was always intended to end on season 3, Frank confirmed this. They always wanted to end the big story in three seasons because they knew most Disney shows only lasted three seasons. And after what Frank dealed with when he was working on wander over yonder, he wanted to make sure that the story would finish.
@@KorporalKReephdmkiytrecv69 I still think if Merlock in Ducktales had a season 4 happen i could've seen John Rhys-Davies or Michael dorm
