The 3 usual suspects !
Lol. Yep ❤
Do you get insurance there or just pay as you go?
Yes ! I watched the whole thing. It was good , thanks
How do I get a hold of you I’m coming there in about 4 to 5 weeks maybe sooner
Thanks Guys very informative coming to Cebu Nov 23
From my perspective, Paul, this sort of forum, is appealing. You can't beat first-person information that's derived from the actual experiences of expats living in the Philippines. 👍
I agree
This is a casual and honest format
I really enjoyed it
I’m glad they discussed these topics in frank honesty
@@RetireandGoI agree! We'll done!
Yep 💯
Most sage advice from Paul : "You're not here to fix the Philippines....You're here to have the Philippines fix you. This comment sums it all up.
To get up and move to another country when you are broken might not work for everyone.
The question is: do I want the Philippines to fix me?
This is so true
It’s actually very stress relieving to realize you are not in country to fix things
But instead … to just relax and enjoy
Because you have a few good options of countries to choose from to get fixed...
Remember.. its all about you this time around...
Its your Agenda first before any woman from any country.
If you let her Agenda before yours. ... you've wasted your decision and personal freedom.
@@tonytour4377 if you are broken why take the chance to travel to another country to fix what broke you. Know yourself enough to know what needs fixed before moving forward.
I like the roundtable format. Goldfinger is always a character.

I recently returned from Davao, Philippines, and for individuals interested in migrating to this country, it is worth noting that a monthly budget of $1,000.00 USD is more than sufficient for a comfortable lifestyle. Wife and I purchased land and plan to begin construction on our home shortly.
Do you mean that's an affordable budget for renting apartment's, bills & food etc or did you mean your budget for your new home?
You have to already have money in the bank...$1700 monthly is about what some Americans ss
I am right with Daryl on his attitude about no children no pets no smoking no alcoholics. Yes it may hurt my possibilities but I’m retired and the purpose of retirement is to enjoy life so outside of having a girlfriend or a wife I don’t want anything to slow it down. Sounds selfish but after 62 years I think I’ve earned it😇
Same here!!
I’m with you on that! The freedom to be spontaneous is what I desire. ✌️😎
Stay fit, stay healthy. Be on the move, don't become lazy. Find purpose in your day.
For you three knuckleheads, that is a great forum, providing great information and entertainment. Hope you keep this up. A hearty thank you to all of you!!!
Thanks and your welcome 😁
Sounds like Daryl is got it going on. Kudos to him. I like the way he planned and researched his move before leaving the US. I have been to Cebu twice while visiting the country. I liked many things about it. Love the format of this video.
Thanks Bonnie
Thank you, Bonnie. At this time in my life, I know what I want and if I don't go for it, it simply won't happen.
I like BURGER KING😊😊
Great video. The two most important things about coming to Dumaguete or anywhere in the Philippines is #1 no one can tell if you are going to like it here. You have to experience it for yourself. #2 no one can tell you how much it will cost you to live here. It all depends on your lifestyle. I am spending twice what I had planned. I lived here for 6 years and thought I knew the Philippines well. That was 30 years ago and trust me everything is different now. I am not disappointed that I came here but I did have to do some recalibration.
Completely agree
One of the reason I’m single in USA is I do not want to be involved with a women who had children or pets .
I’m in 40’s and want to travel and live life .
Slim pickings
Hey, I’m with you
I feel the same and it’s not because I have anything against anyone
I just went through those times already and I want to travel without these issues right now in my life
Same here. I am in an LDR with a 38 year old, no kids, never married. We can just go on a whim.
Hi Paul, Gold finger and Daryl, this is one of the best "advisory" communications about various experiences on a number of subjects, for persons planning to retire or live in the Philippines, a lot of sound, firsthand advice. Paul, keep doing what you do, all of your video's are entertaining and informative.
I enjoy these videos because I treat them like a podcast. I put my earbuds on and my phone in my pocket and spend the day working in my yard or on my cars.
I'm single and retired living in Virginia. I was very lucky to find 1.6 acres of fruit trees, a barn, two story house and have added chickens, ducks a goose and now a turkey.
The weather gets hot and humid in the summer and cold in the winter, but Virginia is in that sweet spot. I'm probably 10' above the water level of the rivers and back from the ocean, protected.
While the Northeast is flooding from torrential rains and other places are unbearably hot or subject to forest fires, we have weather that is just right.
I would maybe visit the Philippines on vacation, but constant hot, humidity and rain is not my thing.
I can get to great beaches here and grew up in the ocean and at the beaches, I don't miss it much and appreciate the weather changes here.
My house is now almost doubled in value, my solar electric provides all my power needs and it runs my HVAC basically free for perfect indoor climate.
The one attraction for me is being able to live in a fraction of my income.
While I do make more than I spend, I also help with grandkids financially. So extra money to travel for a month is not in the cards yet, but may be next year.
As far as your videos, I enjoy that I can do things and listen to it. I don't have to do more than glance at you all occasionally and just listen to you and your experiences.
The group forum of input is great since we get multiple experiences and views on each subject on one video - saves having to go to many channels to get multiple perspectives on the same topics -( a benefit of having many vloggers there BTW. ) Good ideas and info X 3!
Good crossover conversation with expats
I liked the casual and frank nature they discuss these topics that are often not covered
Interesting advice Paul, you and your girlfriend meet during a time you weren’t really thinking about finding “THE ONE!”
and things just happened organically, and you realized things fell into place naturally.
You’re a wise man Paul and I enjoy old dog’s advices and definitely enjoy learning from them new tricks.
Thanks 🙏 Brotha.
It seems that’s how it happens haha
You are not looking and that’s when you meet someone
Maybe they are in the same mind set perhaps
While I understand any man's reluctance to become involved with a lady who already has a child, I've been most fortunate to have been involved for years with a Pinay whose daughter was six when we first met. Now, at age 12, she is the most beautiful element in my life. She teaches me so much. And I love it all! Well, actually 90% of the time. With the remaining 10% somehow my unconditional love disappears. And that's acceptable. Have to go now. Sunshine just asked if I wanted to paint with her. How sweet it is!
U r fortunate.Thank God 🙏🙏❤️❤️

Thank you. I've lived in many countries. Im originally from Ireland but I feel privileged to be lviing here, a guest of the generous Philippine people.
The roundtable format is a good idea, like you said every 6-8 weeks. Everyone has different takes. Love Paul's openness to share his channel with honest, humorous dudes.
I’ve been to both Cebu and Davao and found single ladies with no kids. I was very honest from day 1 of what I was looking for and clear about not wanting future kids. Told them if they wanted kids I was not their guy. So they are out there.
Very helpful! I've been binging on The Filipina Pea and this gives a much more practical idea of what it looks like for foreigners just arriving.
Love that Filipina Pea! 😍❤
I think her channel is a great one to offer the insight of Filipinas or Filipinos even and particularly how they perceive us, etc.. So I love her videos but for a bit different kind of subject matter than what I learn from expats, like these guys. This channel is the best IMHO for that. I think more channels by native Filipinos would be great.
I talked to one of the Filipinos from another island and she was on vacation in Dumaguete and she said every other retiree she met in Dumaguete is a Vlogger!
sounds like she gets around
@@paulinthephilippinesolddog9234😂
Watched from beginning to end! Definitely like the roundtable format. This answered many questions. Thanks to Paul, Goldfinger, and Darryl; much appreciated.👍
DARYL: keep on , keeping on. Ignore the chis-mis. Critical thinking and logic isn’t always a strong point for many Filipinas (not all of course, just some) .. Nothing wrong with being selective and wanting good chemistry. And I love the line “don’t want to be with someone just to be with… “ She’s out there. Stay well guys 😊
Thank you very much for your comments. I will heed your advice. 😊
Please continue to do these chats, Paul. They are both helpful and entertaining. I greatly appreciate them.
I’ve been preparing to retire to the Philippines for three years and Duma was always at the top of my list. I’ve noticed a subtle change in the attitude of some-not all- American expats the past six months around other expats settling there. It’s very off putting and I’ve totally changed my focus and am now looking elsewhere to settle. As for too many vloggers, I guess success breeds success. Great discussion, thank you all.
They are mostly in dumaguete. go to bohol, Bicol region, Leyte or Iloilo instead.
@jimmills6330 We live on Samal Island near Davao City. Davao has an airport and hospitals as well as malls. Maybe another area for you to consider.
Great forum Paul. Learned a few new things which were very valuable. Thanks guys. God bless!
Yes, like the format. Yes do more of these. Very helpful. Thanks.
Great format. Extremely informative and realistic. Definitely do more of these.
I have been in Philippines 7 weeks now. Spent the first 4 weeks in a hotel in Cebu City. Finally found a new condo for lease in Mandaue City. Yes, I also got sick for about one week after arriving (respiratory). Looked at about 12 different condos in the Cebu metro area before settling on Mandaue City. I agree with Daryl regarding the no pets, no kids, and no alcoholics. I also agree with Daryl on his reasoning. I also am waiting until I get everything set up and situated the way I want it before pursuing a relationship. My condo came fully furnished but I added a second refrigerator and a clothes dryer. Kudos to Goldfinger on the helmet drives. Great cause. I began the SRRV process today. I am waiting to receive the SRRV before I purchase a vehicle because I've been informed that you can't register a vehicle without either an ACR card or a SRRV card. I've decided to purchase a Ford Ranger truck that will be in the $26,000.00 range much like Daryl's vehicle. I like Daryl's outlook on finding "the right one" not just anyone. I like Daryl's outlook regarding being free to wake up one morning and deciding to grab the girlfriend and hop over to another island on a whim. Yes, I enjoy the roundtable format. Very informative and very entertaining. I still find it humorous about Daryl turning out to be, not of his choosing, to be a "ladyboy magnet"!🤣🤣Keep up the great videos. Always entertaining. Tell Goldfinger I'm sending his helmet back. It didn't fit!🤣🤣I brought 4 checked bags and 2 carryon bags with me. I got a price shock yesterday when my son told me it would cost $6,700.00 to ship my 12 household boxes via UPS tp the Philippines. So I am now researching a more cost effective way to ship. I have utilized Amazon to order some items and have them shipped to the Philippines and I found it very easy and reasonable. There are very few items that are covered under the Amazon "free shipping to the Philippines" category. Very limited. If you order something that can't be shipped to the Philippines it tells you when you go to the checkout section. I found t6hat it was easy to select multiple same items and then sort them out at checkout because I could then see what can and can't be shipped to the Philippines. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Look into balikbayan box shipments to the Philippines, it was $100 per large box before COVID.. now I don't know the costs today.
But way cheaper than FedEx.or UPS .. ❤
And thanks for watching and the positive kind words 🙏
@@-goldfinger2695 Thanks Goldfinger. I will follow up on that. I really appreciate your helmet drives!!! What a great cause!! Thanks again for the info.
Try to inquire about LBC cargo and / or Atlas cargo or shipping. It should not cost that much. They have boxes from extra large or jumbo to small boxes or similar sizes from Home Depot. It’s a door to door delivery that most Filipinos use for sending boxes. For this shipping, charges are per box sizes not weight.
Thanks@@liliaabellanosa8424
Love this type of content Paul. I have been considering retiring to the Philippines and watch alot of your videos. I have learned a lot from them and will heed some of your advice for sure. Thanks and keep posting stuff like this!!!!!
I enjoyed the podcast very much. Hopefully you'll be able to do this every couple months and be able to maybe bring other people on the show the share their experiences.
It’s a nice conversation with expats to hear their experiences
I really enjoyed this conversation
Thank you for the nice conversation with these folks !
An excellent video, thank you Paul and guys 😊
Great info should keep this exact content coming!
most informative video yet, great content, goldfinger and the other guy are a nice contrastto each other. thank you
Stayed the end, good info. I like the casual "structure". Good to see different perspectives on retirement there.
Great forum! Like it! Thanks Old dog!
Great conversation among friends, loved it. I don’t know if you can work on the mic as the conversation was something hard to hear, especially from Gold Fingers. You always seem to add to videos you’ve had in the past with new information and perspectives. Thanks for sharing
I absolutely love this format thank you Paul
Great video Paul. Format, I like it, I'll give it five stars. Senor Goldfinger needs a mike too. Some of his remarks were harder to hear. I like the three amigos, could benefit from another crazy person, but 3 or 4 is great either way. Subject matter - great update, relevant prices, good geographic info, nice to have open information about mistakes made or encountered. Seems like the promised FB's didn't make it to the posted video. So three cheers to all 3 of you gentlemen, from a certified crazy person. As for future topics, I'd be happy to hear all you have to share, anything current is good, tales of the woods are top notch too. Who has the skills to make a welcome to Dumaguete arrival pack?
Paul's choice of men was excellent...........some can live real cheap and be ok with that and others strive for more of an american living lifestyle. Wonder how gossip fits into the different lifestyles.........one woman living better than the other.
Thanks Paul I enjoyed the video and I did like this format. I’m looking forward to more.
It was great! Loved it. Very informative. I was glad to see Daryl! I have been wondering how he was doing. Seems like a very nice fellow. I love the house he found. I thought was really nice. Great advise and insight that you all shared. Hope one day to meet and shake hands with each of you.
Thank you for this conversation, it was very informative!
Nice one I like this form of honest information giving , looking forward to the next one .
Love this forum!! More please!!
Hey, I'm your first viewer on this video 😀😀😀!!!
Yes you are!
Good video, guys. I enjoyed the content.
Paul, this is the best forum that I like and appreciate. You provide so much information, on so many different topics of interest. The three of you are so funny to watch and listen to, I didn't even notice how long the video lasted.
Hi Paul, thanks for all the great advice. And thanks for the fun chat and laughs. All the best to goldfinger and the other friend 😊
Good format, practical info - thank you
Glad to see Daryl doing better. Good table talk. Great discussion.
Hey Paul, great video. I find these long form, open topic interviews/panels to be the best. The discussion is kind of rudderless and just goes where it goes. Sometimes a train wreck, sometimes gold.
The advice from you and the boys is, as always, right on point. We all have our own definition of what our life should be and what our needs and expectations are. No right answer, no wrong answer.
I agree that 60-90 days for a scouting trip is needed. The longer the better. I would imagine after 60 days the "newness" wears off and you start to settle into life in the Philippines. May or may not be for you.
Going from a 100 MPH lifestyle in the West to the screeching halt in the Philippines takes some adjustment. Paul said it best with "Don't come here to change the Philippines, come here so the Philippines can change you.". May or may not be for you.
I plan on my Philippine scouting trip in about a year or two when I get everything in line.
Only 1 way to find out crazy people......
Always appreciate this type of forum, very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Paul - Gold finger & Darryl, great format. Just a good old down to earth type of conversation sharing - I enjoyed! Thx for sharing.
Yes it did 👍👍👍
Very helpful and insightful, Paul and gang. Thanks.

Maybe the longest vlog I’ve watched but loved it! Was in duma last year and getting ready for my next trip to ph. Great format and info!
Thankyou ❤️
Thank you for your honest open discussion Paul. Love the format and it really helps us guys planning to come out there soon. 👍
Liked that format!!
I agree 1 million percent with Daryl, no pets and finding Filipina with no children!!! In your retirement years so you can travel and just get up and go when you want to, no obligation!! You work all of your life to finally get what matters the most to you!!!
Wholeheartedly agree with you, Thomas.
Thanks for the kind words Gold for us Filipinos. I'm really hoping for all the happiness in the world for you and long life! Mabuhay ka!❤
Our pleasure!
I spoke the truth ❤
I really enjoyed this conversation
These are good hearted men with a positive attitude
They only want better for all
Hi, Paul. I love your content and the format. Keep it coming. In my opinion, you guys glossed over what seems to be of import. That being the “don’t be alone with a woman” there. The way it was couched, it seemed that it’s not uncommon to be accused of something bad. Is it a scam where one can be squeezed for monetary gains? In general, I live above reproach, so I never let myself get into a situation where my character can be questioned, like what Daryl expressed with his M. O. Can you expound on that in a future vid?
Between your channel and a couple others, you almost have me persuaded to check it out.
One last thing: having given out 500 helmets, do you guys see them being used? Are you spotting them on kids as you run around?
@@gdubbyu9033 i agree it seemed like they left out some good info about being accused of something and it seemed like they did not explain as to what you could be accused of but i think if i have it correct you could be accused of being a chickboy aka going out with to many girls better known as sleeping around ....do i have that right?
This was fantastic! Many of us want to know about the realities and downsides of every aspect of moving and living overseas in SouthEast Asia. Thanks and cheers.
Have more Darryl... great information ... thank you!
I appreciated the round table. Good info...
Glad it was helpful!
Great 👍 video and great format Paul with very good information from three different people with three different "prospects" and ways of doing things there.
The only thing that I would ask or "recommend" Paul is the SOUND. It seemed a little "far away" from the subjects and also a little "echoed",.. maybe from the type of room it was recorded,..it made some of the conversations a little hard to "hear/understand" even with the volume all the way up.
Keep up the great 👍 work Paul and thank you.
Excellent forum with tons of useful info. Thanks.
Liked the format, interesting take on the same topics from three completely distinct personalities, well done!
Great information from all of you.
Very good video Paul and the group
Hey guys, great episode, hope to meet you when I'm out there on my scouting trip- Glenn
Another great video. Thanks
Interesting video and comments from Daryl with regards to staying safe from false accusations. I’ve never heard that before on any Philippines vlog channel, totally makes sense. Interesting comments on Duma from goldfinger, he was so well behaved , ha . And interesting comments on inflation from Old Dog , sounds like the PI is experiencing that like everywhere else.
Hey Paul. Always enjoy getting the notifications about new videos!! I'm gleaning a lot of good info from all you vlogers.
Glad you like them!
This was a nice discussion with these gentleman
Good information
Honest talk about what they are looking for
Great conversation and some good tips
It’s been eight months since this was originally posted. I love the format and the casual conversation much like you would have meeting for coffee. I’m sure. I hope you continue to add them to your normal routine and postings.
Great roundtable discussion. Planning to move to Phils at the beginning of next year. Preparing for the move is just becoming overwhelming. This video has helped to alleviate those thoughts. This content is really helpful, Paul. I would love to see more like this
Love the straight talk and info on the Philippines and hope you guys are cool.
Thank you so much for the information!
Your welcome
I love this format!
Oh I am one of the four that's still with you? cool! Yeah Paul I liked it!
Great new format…..thanks!
I love the style of this video. Very entertaining.
Helpful info. 😊
Broken ribs take months to heal probably 3 months or more
Hey Paul watch you every time I can, and enjoy it.
Alot of good insights!
This is a dam good video an lots of interesting material that was discussed. I learned from this. After all these years traveling back an fourth, this vid really helped. Especially about the Realtor.
Hello Paul,
Yes, I am loving this format very much like when you used to get together w/Mark to shoot the breeze. I love the banter that goes on between you three and yes, I hear you all have advice/recommendation if you are thinking to move to the Phils, but frankly this has been repeated ad nauseam. Guys who keep asking these questions want to be taken by the hand on how to settle there; whereas most sensible people do all their research by at least watch previous 'how to' & 'budget' videos of yours, of which there are many.
Both Daryl & Goldfinger know what they want, they are smart and all I can say to Darryl is sorry you went to the Phils to look for your lady, because I am not there😊
Have a good day guys🥰
Thank you for your kind words 😊
I liked this conversational format
Casual and informative
I hope we get more good expat discussions like this
luv this format, that was a lot of helpful and practical info
Hi Paul, yes I like this type of forum. Please continue to do this with various guests and different insights. Very helpful and as always entertaining 😊.
One other thing to advise people coming here is to have an idea of what activities you are going to do once settled. If you have been working all your life then suddenly not working and in a new country, the days can get long setting in the house. Are you going to a bar all day or a coffee shop. Have at least a couple of different types of activities you want to do so you can do either. Part of the appeal of the Philippines is the different things that can be done, but a person needs to get out and do those things.
Enjoyed video, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
I agree with Darryl, NEVER get involved with a girl with excess baggage. Just like Darry said, you worked hard all your life, time enjoy.. Don't borrow troubles and heartache.
I lived in Japan for about 7 years total and I never had a huge desire to be near Americans. It was exciting to meet someone but I never had the desire to be around them every day. When I go to the Philippines I plan on becoming fluent in Tagalog in a few months. It took me about six months with Japanese so I think it should be a little easier because I don’t have to memorize 5k Chinese characters this time.
It must of been really rough learning Japanese when your studying Chinese
Good format. Good info.
This video actually made the idea of moving far less intimidating. And seemly more a possibly. The only thing I wonder about is the other video when your friend was moving back because of medical issues. That gives me pause.
Sound great . I’d love for you to go to the small prov’s . Great video … best one I’ve seen .
I like the format it works
Hey Paul! I'm new to your channel, but I'd like to tell yoou that I do like that format with the everyday life topics round table discussion. I'm going to be in Dumaguete for the month of June, myself. I'm not moving there now, just exploring a bit to see if I like that area. However, it is a area that I may look at moving to later so it's to have more things to consider coming from people that have already been through it. Thanks for the great info!
I enjoyed the format and the bouncing off of each other. It generated lots of useful information.
you guys are very honest great narrators thinks for being upfront and precise i would love to hear more about the women interaction with foreigners great job.
I really appreciate the information on Big Rock thank you so much
I took the Leeroy Jenkins approach to moving here. I met my wife online and the retired and sold everything and moved out here. 🤣🤣🤣. Been here a year and a half and love it. I talked to about 15 different girls online before I narrowed my search down to a solid three girls and then I started asking the hard questions and made sure to vet them before I narrowed it down to my wife. I watched a lot of the Filipina Peas videos as well as yours Paul and also watched Tim K and the Armstrong family so I haven’t been surprised once in my year and a half here. I knew what to expect and never got my expectations up. For a couple months I lived on $2K a month but now I’m living on $4k and very comfortable.
That's awesome
😎👍
Paul, one the best videos you have done.
Cool video. All of these dudes are fun to listen to .
