I never expected a composer to direct the most emotional games. The first four Silent Hill games were the pinnacle in merging music, atmosphere, and scenes.
The biggest inspiration behind my original compositions and a few covers I've done. I highly enjoyed watching Yamaoka sharing his story on this project. Seeing him reunited with Toyama is a dream come true.
Also, also it's amazing how the approach to SH's soundtrack was to bring in an unorthodox sound for a horror game, but Yamaoka has created SUCH a legacy and even sort of a standard for what psychological horror game soundtracks should sound like nowadays! You'll find that a lot of indie psychological horror games take inspiration from the SH2 soundtrack especially. I love this man sm.
The production quality of these interviews is awesome. Almost as awesome as the subject of the interview itself. It would be awesome if these interviews were in an in-game Gallery or unlockable in some way. Not many games have making-of bonuses anymore.
These are on pair with the interview/documentaries been posted over on Archipel and Cutscenes, two of the best UA-cam channels out there. If you are not familiar, I highly recommend you give it a shot. It's probably my favorite format of video nowadays.
Announcement of Yamaoka and Toyama's reunion in the trailer blew my mind... I knew as soon as I heard the music, it had to be Yamaoka, ESPECIALLY when the title pulled up. Oddly, I didn't really think about who I'd want as the composer for this game... But I'm really glad this was the result. As for this video, I'm SO happy to be able to get a modern interview of how Yamaoka approaches his music and style too! It's crazy to realize how long I've been listening to his stuff and how old I am now... Cuz listening and getting giddy over this makes me feel like I'm a teenager again LOL.. Silent Hill and Siren were big parts of my childhood, so cheers to this new project. 🥂
@@thegreatpoo2electricboogal318 have you not seen music that Yamaoka made for Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania? He actually led a rock band for that :D
What a genius! Silent Hill The Room was so damn eerie; felt like I was leaving my body even from the title screen. It sounded like a mariachi dead body waking up, and playing a quick tune, then slipping back into his death state.
There has never been any musician who has sent chills down my spine more than Akira Yamaoka. To this day there are songs from the Silent Hill soundtracks that unsettle me just from the first few seconds. He is a master of sound. I am so excited to hear what he creates for Slitterhead.
OMG Master Akira Yamaoka Silenthill Composer Best i so happy Team Silent Back again only 4 but i so happy Master Music Horror Silent Hill Akira Yamaoka Coming back will the team again and will other Studio Team Silent i so happy i know they not in Konami but for me there Are Team Silent the Saga Silenthill and now i cry see Akira Yamaoka they back will the team and new Game i can Not wait for playing the new game team silent and music master Akira Yamaoka Silent Hill Music 😿💘😻🎉
I heard “misalignment” and thought maybe he was gonna do something like use a lap steel and go for a western sound Then he immediately pulled out an 8 string lmao
i don't get the concept the team aiming for , is it a hack and slash action game or is it a survival horror , i was expecting a modern horror game in the level of Silent Hill or Siren or even Fatal frame , the concept of the game seems comedic more than horror , we already have Deathverse and Ghostwire : Tokyo coming soon so we don't need more of those games , i'm getting Let it die vibes to be honest and that's *not* good
Not going to be a popular opinion but I really don’t like the music and tone of the trailer. I hope the game isn’t like that. It’s not that I necessarily want Silent Hill type stuff or more classic horror music, but this hits all the wrong points for me. Makes me think of stuff like Dead Island, Dead Rising, and a bunch of really bad horror themed action game trying to be cool and fun with music that tries to match the chaos. Exactly the type of game that flops all the time nowadays, and I gotta say I don’t miss them. There’s plenty of original stuff to be done in horror, but the action fun stuff with bad rock music is really the worst. I really really hope this was just a trailer and it doesn’t match the final product :/
Akira Yamaoka best composer EVER!
Composer*
@@barsabe ok
He's right up there with Yasunori Mitsuda for me.
@@beardalaxy Was going to comment this lol
My god, this team just becomes better and better with each new individual they show off. Slitterhead is setting up a lot of expectations now.

Music of Akira Yamaoka is one of new reasons why I'm awaiting the game.
The whole team is talented not just Akira.
@@spacecobra3101 Of course, that why Akira not only reason but one of a lot. Can't wait to see (and hear) more of Slitterhead in future!

Absolute legend! Inspired me to make music after Silent Hill!
Such great people working on the project! I just hope it gets a western physical release when it launches 🥺
I have the great pleasure have met him once and seen him preform twice. Silent Hill is by far the best sonic experience ever created.
Akira Yamaoka is the reason I even got into producing music.
Same here
that synth when the plane flies over is all you need. reminds me of white noiz from SH2
I wish I could thank this guy for his work. It’s impacted my life greatly.
Absolutely happy to see Yamaoka is on board, Slitterhead is going to be incredible.
The dynamic duo back together agane for the first time in 20 years!

One of the master minds behind of Silent Hill.
Thanks! Silent Hill 2 was amazing OST, and original Silent Hill Too :3
This was an insightful look into his process. I'm enjoying this series quite a bit. Take my money already.
Yamaoka going Djent with the 8-string? Now I'm down with this game even more! 😄
Such a legend. I'm so excited to see what he has in store next.
Una leyenda en la composición en videojuegos! Silent Hill no hubiera sido lo que es sin Akira
Akira is playing an Ibanez Meshuggah signature 8 strings, whoa
