"The **MAJORITY** of you wanted to do Stone Tower Temple."
David, you inspired me to buy an ocarina and now I'm waiting anxiously for it to come to my house c:
Awesome. It'll be worth the wait.
same.
Did it come?
@@jkeyboardmusic6978 little did the Ian know it would never come...
I only found you because i searched ocarina songs and you are the best from all youtubers i found.
You inspired me to get my own ocarina! it's coming in the mail next week. :)
12:15 "Ocarino"? lol
I like the style of your song teaching videos, they are very easy to follow.
The mordent really makes everything sound 20% cooler.
I used to play bagpipes a loooong time ago. I recall a similar tech ique to the mordent you would do with your pinky. Cool to see similar techniques to try out for Ocarina.
This is very useful! I am already familiar with playing music, so most of what I used this for is note orientation. Most music I know is learnt by listening to the music slowed down and figuring out the notes, or playing it by ear, but this varies widely in difficulty, and especially if your instrument isn't perfectly in tune.
I love the music tutorials! Please keep doing them! I am learning how to play the Ocarina, and I was wondering of you could share some tips on finger exercises to get them to move faster and more independently in a future OcTalk. Thanks a bunch for all that you have already helped me with in getting started with my love for Ocarinas!
I've always been a huge Zelda fan but never played Majora's Mask till now. One of my friends posted an Amazon ad for a Zelda styled Ocarina, and I just Had to buy it! I am sooo subbing you so I can learn all of this stuff when it comes in the mail! Keep it up man! :D
Thanks David for such awesome video tutorials for ocarinas and awesome music videos
Love this song cant wait to learn it
You are a truly wonderful teacher!
Thank you David! I love this!! :) I've recently started learning to play with my 7 hole plastic ocarina (from Songbird), but I already love it so much! I've been wanting to play the ocarina for a long time (since I was 8. I'm 24 now haha was about time) Now I'm learning the basics and practicing, but my plan is to get a good quality ceramic ocarina once I'm better at this :) I really hope I'll be able to play this (love stone tower temple music) and other cool songs in the future! Keep doing what you do, I really admire you and love watching your videos! :)
Thank you for being so thorough in your lessons! seriously
Thank you so much! It was so beautifully played that I end up crying liestinning. The sound is so magic!
Thank you! That's awesome. I think this might be one of the more complex songs in my repertoire now.
!!! Thank you for this tutorial! I have a 12 hole ocarina but I could never find the right song that I liked enough and could be played by just one. Gonna try it this weekend!
Thank you so so much for the videos. Your instructions is amazing, lovely and clear. It's like your actually here teaching me to play this wonderful instrument. Most definitely and inspiration to get more practice in. 💜💜💜💜
Hi David!
I love your tutorials, I have learned basically every song I can on my ocarina by you. It is an amazing instrument that I think should be more known. I would love you to make a tutorial for the Dark World theme or extended turorial for song of healing.
A great thanks for reading my comment from Norway :D
I don't know if Dark World Theme is from Majora's Mask, but I would really love it if you did a tutorial on it :D
I believe that the Dark World theme is from A Link to the Past.
Oh. Thanks. I am not a Zelda fan, but I like Zelda songs for my ocarina.
It's from Link to the past
And a link between worlds
you can also play this song on a 6 hole ocarina. I came up with the tabs by ear, and it sounds pretty close to what you played with your 12 hole ocarina
Never fail to impress!!
Good work, David! Now I can play one of the best Zelda Temple Themes on my ocarina ^-^
I'm definitely going to learn this song on my new 12 hole ocarina which will be the first song I learn on a 12 hole ocarina. I think it's silly how if I do learn how to play this, Stone Tower Temple will be the first song I learn to play on both my 12 hole ocarina and on piano, since I learned Stone Tower Temple on the piano a few years ago when I got my keyboard.
I love Stone Tower Temple Music so much❤❤❤
Thank you so much for the helpful tutorial, you inspire me greatly with your work! I don't know if it's just my ear, but if I listen to the original version of the song's first section compared to this I think the second 'repeat' of the first section should go lower, like starting from the lowest 'b':
b, e1, b, e1, b, e1, f1 and then the second 'repeat':
b, e1, b, e1, b, e1, d1
... but I don't know. It just sounds better to me if the last note is lower than f1 at least on my alto C 12-hole ocarina. Otherwise, I really appreciate this great tutorial. That mordant is tricky, but it's getting better. :)
I recently decided to pick up my ocarina again after not making time to play with it for a few years. Found this tutorial and I can't stop grinning >XD It's so satisfying being able to play a song you love. I watched a couple of your OcTalk vids and you're a great teacher! I look forward to learning more from you xwx
Also that outro makes me UBER happy that I have a double ac >w< Nothing like the awesome eeriness of that ending. >X3
If you still do ocarina cover tutorials, would love to see you dig into the amazing soundtrack for Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. Its got an amazing old world feel to its music and almost all the pieces use an ocarina among other instruments like tin whistles, lutes, harps, and krumhorns.
i believe it was an upload from you just doing the song of time on a ocarina that made me want to get an ocarina myself and play those songs. i finally got my ocarina and my favorite temple is, above all, stone tower temple. i got a slightly diffrent 12 hole ocarina then you but with this turtorial i managed to get most of the song. im still struggling with my quick finger work. other than that i can play the complete song with some hic up here and there. you got another subscriber right here to follow your lessons in playing ocarina :D
my grandma got me the one u used
cant wait to annoy everyone in the school with the stone tower temple theme.
Can we please have more of these videos? I love playing this song and learning it with this was so easy, but I want more songs!!!
NICE !!
I love your videos they are great :D
woooow exelent
Holy shit!! This sounds amazing!!!!!
David Erick Ramos you are a musical genius
My ocarina was tragically pushed off my desk by a demonic cat. Im going to buy a plastic one so im not worried about that devil pushing it off again.
I haven't even had it for a month :c
Lol (in a good way)
Im just quite upset that i hadnt even had it for a month. It was so fab too
Good thing I bought a plastic one so it wont happen to me
I should have bought a plastic one to begin with. But i didnt think it would be worth it. Ends up its safer than the one i had..
Thats exactly what I thought...
need more vids like this! Korochun by Akrona!
THANKYU VERY MUCH! D: T_T ME ACABAS DE ALEGRAR UN TANTO MÁS EL DÍA.
FINALLYYYY!!!
thank you for this i can follow easier with the notes like this and i acctually feel like its easier for me
I have the same exact soprano c focalink plastic ocarina!!!
Sounds amazing playing with my Low D Irish flute haha :)
whoa. thats the first song ve ever been able to play on my double successfully. THANKS. please make more double ocarina tutorial or just how to play the 2nd chamber. and why does it have like 2 extra holes on it.
Wow
Wonderful shamanism music ., i like it
Hey David, I love your videos! I was wondering if you can teach me how to play some songs from the Studio Ghibli movies in a future OcTalk video? I love those movies and their soundtracks. Thanks! :)
Compared to your voice, your ocarina is extremely loud some times. Which I'm aware is due to the fact that ocarina's are a lot louder than human voices in real life, but could you maybe lower the volume in an editing program? (The volume was fine when you were teaching notes, but when you were explaining the mordent it was borderline deafening)
- None the less, amazing video :)
Yeah, I completely forgot about that in the beginning during editing, so I forgot to adjust the volume. Sorry headphone users :(
David Erick Ramos - Ocarina may I ask if the fingerings is the same if we play it with the 12 hole ocarina that have the sub holes at different places?
The sub hole near the hole for the left forefinger is equated with the sub hole at the hole for the right middle finger.(sorry, if my english was bad ^-^")
Hey David I have a quick question, can this be played on a double ocarina with both chambers? (love your vids btw!)
Can you please do the clock town song? I love that song. its so up-beat
hey david great tutorial! i was wondering were did you get the ocarina that your using in this video?
It's actually quite easy to play this on a 6-hole Sweet Potato XD
Hi David! I just wanted to know where I could get the sheet music for this. I looked online for tabs, but they all seem a lot different from yours and I couldn't figure out how to play them, so I hoped you could point me in the right direction. Thanks!
Could you teach us how to learn "Ordon's Village"? :D
Where did you get your ocarina? And which one is it?
Could you do more song tutorials for the 7 hole Ocarina please? :D It seems impossible to find tabs for it online.
David can u please put the tablature for the 7 hole ocarina
Hello David, i got a 9 hole ocarina (F-dur) a couple days ago and really want to lern how to play. but i read online, that 9 hole ocarinas arent really common, so they are not many results when i was searching for help. so i thought maybe you could help me out a little bit, give some advises how to start the best. that would be really nice!
sorry for my bad english btw
someday i'll get an ocarina and learn how to play this song!
kittyhawkgirl109 Did you?
Did you ever do it ?
What's your opinion on the kokiri edition as opposed to getting a normal 12 hole?
1:19 Aka a mordant :)
Lol, it's a similar symbol, but glissando is diagonal and mordents are horizontal!
David Erick Ramos Whoops
My bad, so it's a mordant? (still taking piano lessons :P)
horseshoe344 When it's horizontal it's a mordant, when it's vertical it's an Arpeggio and when it's diagonal it's a glissando. :)
Tristan Laurens Thanks I'll change it :)
Hey David, I want to print out the tabs so I can practice the song at my own pace, but I couldn't find it on the songbird channel. Where can I find it?
I'm actually going to send out the tabs tomorrow to my Patreon backers at the Silver level or higher! You can learn more here: patreon.com/docjazz4
Great video! I want to ask a question. I played Clarinet for 8 years (been a while since I had access to reeds) and I wanted to know what the difference between a mordent and a trill is. I've never heard of the term 'mordent' before.
A mordent is basically just one quick up-down, while a trill keeps going up and down until it says to stop
A mordent can be identified as a single a alteration between two pitches, where a trill is multiple alterations. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mordent
I love the Stone Tower theme, but I really *REALLY* would like you to do Clock Town. Or at least do you have the "sheets" for it? Anyway, I don't have a 12 hole but a 10 hole ocarina, so I can't play this. :/
this is pretty old now but ima ask anyway, do you have the full tab available somewhere? if so care to share?
i found this one Ocarina (Keramik, ALTO C, Rot) on amazon. is that one ok? its around 80 € so like 90 $ i dunnow but somwhere between 80 and 90 is the price. or should i get higher with price to get high quality?
btw am german
please upload a full torturial of clock town. i love stone tower and i keep improving it but i want some carnival music with it :P:P
Hey I have a serious question, when you were playing that Larger Ocarina, what kind of Ocarina was that and where can I get one of those?
Please do more zelda tutorials
I have an Ohuhu ceramic 12-hole ocarina. And I've been wondering why I have so much trouble trying to get a different note out of the sub-holes on my ocarina. Its almost as if they are blocked and never had them in ways, it makes it like I only have a 10 hole ocarina. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get them to work without having to buy a new ocarina or Something?
Edit. I have gotten one if the sub holes to work
It says you can play this on a 7 hole, but how do I convert the tabs from 12 hole to the 7 hole?
Thanks for the amazing videos, Erick and keep up the great work. Hope you come back to UA-cam soon
when I was learning this song something keep seeming wrong at the beginning and when I watched him play the song as a whole I noticed him playing a different note. it's 3 holes with your right hand on the end of the first line you repeat.
If the thumb holes are not annotated in the tab section are they covered or open?
Covered. You always keep them covered until you are playing the high notes
Thank you sir, I kinda figured, but wanted to be sure. And thanks for all the great vids, your channel is a valuable resource.
Could you do the stone tower theme with the pendant ocarinia?
How do you get the clean ''wavy'' sound when you play? I never seem to pinpoint it when I play! Thanks!
im new to the ocarina so i cant explain it properly but its called vibrato, it generally takes practice and skill to vibrato well on any instrument, im not sure how its made with wind instruments though. Perhaps its how you push the air out with your stomach.
Yes, this is called vibrato, and it's best achieved with breathing from your diaphragm (diaphramic Breathing). I'll be doing a video on it in the future, but you can find a few videos about it on UA-cam.
Well I'm not sure it'd be called vibrato here. I'm fairly sure it's trilling. Excellently time trilling.
Hey. Would be nice if you make a turorial video from the song: Cuckoo by Anzi & Jiumei, Zhau Fang also plays this song on ocarina, and I love it very much, but I can't even find music sheet about this song.
Does anyone know where to find the songbird 12 hole ocarina of time? I can't find it on their website or anywhere else online?
It's currently out of stock, but I found out that they should have more in stock soon.
Thanks so much David! Also, thanks for providing so much good material and tips for new Ocarina players. I just beat Majora's Mask 3D, and bought one of those cheap Chinese ones on an impulse so I could have something to learn with, but I'll be getting the Songbird one as soon as I can.
david what kind of ocarina is that what (type)
Well a certain MasaeAnela will be excited that you chose Stone Tower
Does anyone know where sheet music for this would be? Not tabs, but actual notes on a staff. I find it's easier to read than tabs, since I know the notes but not the duration of how long they should be held.
How many Hz your time ocarina has all open and all closed can show me??
Where can I get an ocarina like that (amazon, ebay, etc.) and how much does one cost?
Memphis Poston Well, a good ocarina costs anywhere from 20-200 dollars. A good place to look is Songbird Ocarinas.
As for the ocarina David is using, I think he got it from songbird, but I don't know
Where can I buy that ocarina, I need a new one
¿Podrías mostrar como hacer el vibrato? :( yo tengo mi ocarina pero solo puedo hacer el sonido tal cual sin poder hacer que suene bien :(
Hey David, this is an excellent video but could you please let us have the tablature? After getting the notes by watching your video it's kinda hard to keep up without the it. Thanks!
i say for the next video do the wind waker intro i've been trying to figure it out for a while now and still cant seem to get the second part down.
can you do a tutorial on how to play the same song on 7 hole zelda ocarina?
How would I play this on 7 hole? Sending me some tabs for the whole sobg would be helpful.
Song*
How can I get that ocarina with the Japanese sub holes?
I'm pretty sure that it's on Songbird Ocarina's website
hey whats the name of that ocarina im asking because im trying to buy one
where on the ocarina does the noise come out?
Giggle Droid there is a hole near the "neck" of the ocarina, that is shaped kinda like a tear.
my ocarina has 8 holes on top and 2 small ones and two on the bottom is it the one???
+leo13mj Yes, it's a 12 hole
what does it mean when there are no holes, black or white, under the ocarina picture?
Cover the holes that are white
Austin Jalbert oh wait no white under the ocarina picture means don't cover the holes on the other side of the ocarina, there are 2 mire holes on the back and if white holes appear under the picture he puts up then cover the back holes/hole
are all the notes diffrent on tiwnes ocarina i thats wut i hav
Can I play this in a 10 hole alto G ocarina?
Nic1z It requires the subholes, but people are saying that you can even do it on a 6 hole/7 hole ocarina, so I guess it would be possible, it would just require you to figure the notes out yourself
How was I supposed to know I had to use a powder keg which you have to specially buy and can only carry one.... ontop of underground chamber. On one of four identical giant light brown square dirt tiles. HOWWW?!
hey guys! I'm new to ocarinas! I want to start playing but I have nowhere to get one. if you guys can help me get started that would be delicious!
Khai Robertson Have you tried Songbird Ocarinas?
is that an alto? the high a makes my head hurt.
+Kattra Blake The ocarina he is using is tuned to Alto C, so yes.
my ocarina is kind of out of tune, but i don't know what to do to make it in tune
It's like the lower range is in C but g and enough is in Bb
Memphis Poston where did you buy it and what brand is it
