Hi Sir, I’m planning to apply for an engineering program. I wanted to ask for your advice on whether I should focus more on the Verbal or Quant section, as I know Quant tends to be more relevant for engineering. Also, what would be an average target score for both sections? Do universities tend to focus on each section separately, or do they look at the cumulative GRE score overall? Any insights would be really helpful. Thanks!
Hi Sir! I really enjoy your informative videos. Would it be possible for you to make them more frequently, maybe a few times a week? They’re super helpful!
I would like some advice pls. I scored 288 on my first mock a few days ago, and my target score is 320+. I am going to focus on quant from the 5lb book. For verbal i will be doing the ets verbal book and the manhattan 5lb book, plus 1500 word made by you. Doing all the free mocks about 6-7 plus ets ones(i also purchased one) Can you please tell me any other resources i can use to improve my score within this period? & is it possible to increase my score from 288 to 320+ in a month ?
@@talhaomer167 what if someone do the same thing and have exam on 17th jan (around 3 months from today)? is it possible to get 310 + if my previous score is 280?
@@udaydas7 3 months is a lot of time tomorrow improve your score. In general, it takes around 4-6 weeks to improve your score by 10 points. So given that you are at 280, you will need 3-4 months to get to 310-320.
I feel it might also be due to the online version of the test being introduced. Many people give the exam by unfair means and get a good score which affects the percentile. And also due to gre being not mandatory many people who know they would get a good score give the test, others dont take the exam anyways.
Also i am skeptical that GRE optional has any effect at all on people skipping the exam. Especially if you look at data of test takers from like india and China the number of test takers hasnt diminished at all and btw india is the biggest test taking market after US so people are choosing to take the exam regardless
Hi Sir! I took my GRE on 14 October and scored 170 in quant and 154 in verbal. Have close to 4 yrs of Work ex. Do I stand a good chance for top uni for my MBA?
Hey! I think you may have issues getting in unless your overall profile is really strong because for these top schools a score of 328+ is what the average is like
Hi Sir, great video as always. Do you think it’s worthwhile to give the GRE with only 5 weeks to prepare if I’m applying to only GRE optional schools (p competitive programs though)? I’ve a strong academic profile with a 3.9+ CGPA, a conference paper and 3 years of relevant work experience. I’m applying to MS in Computer Science programs. Would really appreciate any advice you might have for me, TIA
Thanks Maheen, Well I would say take a shot at it. If you score well (like 315+) then send those scores as they will help otherwise apply without the GRE score. Given your experience and papers, I don't think that applying without a GRE would go much against you though sometimes programs are like that if you are applying from Pakistan then give GRE as we advice it.
Hi Talha. Could you elaborate on some complex quantitative topics that were previously included in the ETS exams but were discontinued and have recently made a comeback? I’d love to hear your insights on this.
Hey! Like everything from prime factorisation, independent probabilistic events, triple venn, parabolas, circle equations etc. i mean previously GRE used to focus on certain areas but now its all over the place. Every person reports new kinds of questions never seen before or practiced.
Good content, but there is some information that you left out regarding the percentile changes. (LONG POST). The main reason why percentiles are changing is due to programs not requiring applicants to take the GRE. We started seeing this movement before Covid but since became rapid during and after Covid. Most of these programs that aren't requiring the GRE are not as quantitative. This is important because usually, these students tend to do worst on the Quant section of the GRE, thereby increasing the percentile rankings of the scores. When more people take the exam and bomb it (i.e. the Quant section), scores like a 162 will be of higher percentile. Since more and more of these students are not taking the GRE, this leaves people who tend to do well on the Quant section competing with one another, thereby decreasing the percentile ranking. ETS reduced the timing of the GRE to compete with GMAC. ETS is gaining a larger market share of test takers in MBA admissions (it's one of the largest targets), and they didn't want to risk losing ground against GMAC. Conclusion: GRE isn't any easier. The reason why you see high scores with low percentiles on the Quant section is due to the test optional movement. Lastly, I tend to view the percentile changes as an issue for programs and ETS alike, not applicants. The programs that require a percentile to qualify for their program will have to adjusted. For MBA programs, most of the top schools will look at the raw score and use that as part of their evaluation of candidates. Applicants should aim at or above the median/average raw score. They should be fine if they do that.
It has really become competitive. I appeared for GRE in Sept 24 and scored 168 in quant. My percentile was only 83!
hi whats your take in magoosh gre prep , and also the 3 practice test in the premium magoosh?
hi, I don't like Magoosh questions and practice tests tbh. Their videos are amazing though.
@@talhaomer167 are old editions of manhattan prep 5 lb and old editions of official ets still relevent in 2024 ?
Sir I'm getting 312 in the GRE mocks presently, is it possible to go above 330 in actual exam.
Yup but it will take another 4-6 weeks of prep

Hello, Focus on quant making sure you get as close to 170 as you can. For verbal, anything above 155 is fine.
Sir??
is there any way to get GMAT Discount vouchers ?
Please help
Nope

In one month it is not possible to improve that much but the resources that you mentioned are a good starting point towards that score
