The supra would have won if the driver was actually good and at the end of the day there is no way that the buik is street legal so really considering that the buik is just a track car it’s actually quite slow

Fardin M is that why automobile related deaths a year is like 40,000 a year which is way higher than it was even like 10 years ago, and in that time the only thing that happened was the switch from lighter weight better handling cars to heavier cars and SUVs that take longer to stop, handle worse, hydroplane easier, and have way higher inertia and kinetic energy in a crash.

@@aidangale5521 yeah and then have been rising again after the switch to SUV's which have longer braking distances, worse handling both making accident avoidance unnecessarily harder, do more damage to other vehicles, to pedestrians struck since when hit by a car there isn't as much acceleration by the neck and head area since it's mostly hitting your lower body, and people on motorcycles which have all SKYROCKETED in recent years with the amount of motorcyclists getting killed having more than doubled since the 90s. This is all even crazier especially just the total amount of deaths when you realize that the amount of single car accidents have nearly halved in recent years with most of the new cars having lane departure warnings, auto emergency braking technology, and other safeties to prevent people from driving off the road or into things. Yet with major deceases to types of accidents like that, and overall accidents.... The amount of deaths has risen in the last 10 years? Oh but "you're more safe in a heavier vehicle in a crash because... uhh... the number of deaths is actually less for people in SUV's!" this is such a backwards ass dumbass selfish way of thinking that's a clear example of survivorship bias that it's not even funny.... It doesn't account for the whole picture and how much more likely the person being hit by an SUV is more likely to die. When if both people were driving cars both could've survived. By that same logic we should all be driving big rigs and monster trucks. The car enthusiast that wants a good handling, good braking, lightweight, good drag coefficient, lower center of gravity, good MPGs, more reliable, sportier, fun car all for less money too. Shouldn't be punished because the dumb Karens in their overweight SUVs bought a vehicle that's harder to drive and more dangerous, with the mindset that it's actually safer when it's the opposite. As long as THEY'RE safe then it's fine apparently

Im one of them buick guys......1970 machine shop built 455 with TA aluminum stage 2 "ported and polished heads", and an Art Morrison 4 link with coil-overs......only supercharged and turbo modded non-street legal cars could take it.......1970s skylarks with big blocks and suspension mods are killers to anything outside of the modern dodge demons and red eyes..........those cars are sick!!!!

I prefer the Buick 455s to the ones offered by Pontiac and Oldsmobile. They have the largest bore of the three and they're a light casting.

I'd like to request that high drone shot for every race. I'm sure it's a logistical issue of having enough charging/batteries while shooting at a remote location but that shot made it absolutely clear who was the winner. Great idea for the show! Thanks!

That's why I still love NA. The power is always there, especially with classics like this with a continuous power curve from 1.5k rpm
A lot of modern turbo engines make peak torque at 1,500.
Even with all the cooling upgrades, modern turbo engines still have to deal with heat soak issues with back to back to back runs.
It's not NA with NOS just sayn
"NOS" doesn't force air at a positive pressure into the engine like a supercharger or a turbo does though. It's a power adder for sure with similar features, but I'm not sure that it would be considered forced induction. I never really thought of it though and I'm not an expert or a tuner🤔 Just my opinion.
@@queue1176 nitrous is denser in oxygen compared to the air around it so it is adding denser "air" into the engine

The problem with a high-tech boosted engine like this, it's gonna get so heat soaked after that burnout there's no way it'll be able to hold peak boost for 3 back-to-back runs. Needs the good old front mount and bigger compressor to reduce intake temps.
There's a reason everyone runs front mount; what you described as exhibit A.

Imagine your modern sports car being heavier than a '60s hunk of steel with a massive heavy V8
imagine crashing in an old car at 40 mph compared to crashing on a modern car at 40 mph. imagine having a working aircon/heat, sound system, etc. imagine driving around in a circuit track and drifting through the corners with confidence. imagine not having to manually adjust carburetors. imagine carving around on a mountain road during a rain. imagine having a car that's not a one-trick-pony.

Gearing, right. Nothing to do with it having an engine that's more than twice the size of the supras. And being on spray. Don't forget that the Supra wasn't far behind it on that last race.
@@zachaliles you sound triggered lol I never said any of that stuff but a lot of it does have to do with gearing. Taller gearing = more space to redline but stay mad import boy
@@z.r0.m_0n nope, not triggered. I know you didn't say any of that stuff, but you kinda did. Saying it came down to gearing alone says you're ignoring the fact that the buicks engine is more than double the size and making comparable power. The fact that an inline 6cyl is making that kind of power, pretty much stock with just a tune, says a lot about what it could do with the same amount of work that was put into that giant V8 just to get it to 400ish hp.

I didn't mention the engine and spray because it's an iron block that's twice as heavy as the Toyota's and 80 years older. That makes it pretty even in my opinion. By all rights if the supra had more done to it it could have won but that's not the point of the video
It also came from the factory with 360hp so getting it "up to" 400ish is not as big of a stretch as you're making it out to be. Not much more work done than the Supra's tune really

The ecu pulls timing as the engine is revving up to stop it accelerating for a moment to change gear. Not a fan of it either but it is noise from a function rather than those fake burble tunes. Real backfires/burbles are fine, though.
