You are right, the stories Europe and North America tell about empires doesn't make sense...but people in Asia, Africa and South America are nevertheless still quite familiar with the imperialism!

Have you read Jonathan Sperber ‘s The Age of Interconnection, a global history of 20thC ? He also examines 1945 - 2000 … thanks interesting channel 👍
