Me: Check out my new guitar. I can do like a billion tones on it.
My friend: That's awesome! Let me hear it.
Me: **plays Smoke on the Water**
035
bro
At least it wasn't Stairway to Heaven or Sweet Child o' Mine
@@rodrigodepierola I'll add Sweet Home Alabama to that list.
Rodrigo de Piérola never play the three s’s. Stairway, Sweet Home, or Smoke
We don't want a guitar that does everything, we want 10-15 guitars 😃
Exactly! Only, I have 40 guitars so I can practice with one per day for over a month, but now I NEED one with that headstock!!
RIALAS not when you’re in college and broke
I actually do.
🤣
That's too many strings to change and I'm out of room. I'm getting one of these !!
Always thought Bob Weir was not recognized enough as a guitar player- it wasn't until I watched 'The Other One' documentary that I realized just how good he really was. Obviously heard his playing but that solidified for me. While I'm not a super Deadhead, I still recognize the singular musicianship of the members and influence the Dead had. This is a great sounding guitar!
Some serious tones on this one! 🔥
1. Intro
2. Guitar Specs 1:25
3. Special Electronics 3:19
4. Tones 5:38
5. One minute Solo 9:12
6. Final Thoughts 10:25

Darrell Braun Guitar cool video 👍
What's that strat (or copy) beside the strat tele hybrid
Hey Daz
What do you think of heritage guitars ? I picked one up in my local g store the other day and it was killer. Would be great if you could get your hands on one and do a review. They are all made out of the old Gibson factory and equipment most of the staff are ex Gibson too
How does it compare to a HH setup? Can this guitar play metal music?
Darell! YOU REALLY NEED TO DO A REVIEW ON BRIAN MAY'S RED SPECIAL GUITAR!
In other videos I stated that I just couldn't get by the D'Angelico head stock. I just got over it. What a GREAT sounding guitar. Thanks Darrell.
Same. Buddy of mine owns a guitar shop and he showed be some of this brand, but the headstock reminded me of some southern mansion yard light post. It does. But now I can tolerate it because the Atlantic and this model are so purdy.
The head stock is an absolute work of art…. What’s not to like? :-)😊Except the gold.
How many guitars do you have now? Have you thought about making a video showing them all?
I would really enjoy a video/review of you playing Brian May’s Red Special, it’s an extremely cool and very versatile guitar (he can get strat, tele, and LP sounds all in one guitar!)
Yes, ive been thinking this for a while. I have two and they're so versatile!
Who wired this guitar, Gandalf?
Yes
@@DAngelicoNY lol brilliant. Guitar sounds amazing btw
Bob Weir. So basically Gandalf.
Fantastic guitar. A Swiss army of tones.
Darrell, great demo of this versatile guitar! The 'Dead', in their day, were the musical ambassadors of the S.F. music scene. Also, Bob Weir and Steve Miller were among a handful of guitarists to put Ibanez on the music map back in the early '70s.
Well done and thanks for sharing brother! That's a sweet guitar D!
First! That is one awesome guitar and I absolutely love guitars made by this company! I went to a music store called Cool Cat, and I’ve played guitars from this company and they are fantastic! Edit: thank you for 14 likes :)
Awesome review! You are the only one I can find who is really putting it through its paces and adding dirt. That shows how versatile it is. You put D'angelico back on my radar. Thanks!
I almost bought the Premier Bedford but got a Reverend Double Agent OG instead. Best $900 I've ever spent.
Ghost-Youth would you recommend this 1 year later.
Wow! Wow! and Wow! Amazing tone! Amazing look! Amazing playing! Love the P-90 / single coil concept!
Beautiful. I want one
Dude the tones are super amazing!
Darrell. Thanks so much. We are in lockdown in UK due to COVID. I wanted a new guitar and impatience was getting the better of me. Unable to visit a guitar shop I googled “most versatile guitar” and up popped this review. Upshot - you convinced me, I bought one and indeed it is awesome and I love it. Big fan of the channel. Thx again. Kev
Wow! That sounded amazing Darrell, amazing skills and guitar man
That pickguard is beautiful
Hours of fun! Possibly the only electric one needs. Thanks, Darrell.
Such an amazing range of tones !!!!!!! Great review, thank you...….
BEAUTIFUL tones...
Haven’t even watched the whole video yet, but wow wee wow! What a certified beauty!
Hey man !!!! I just gotta said I freaking love your videos!!! You explain everything in detail and also you put so much effort into this !! It reflects that you love doing this !!!! Amazing!!!!! Keep rocking and doing this awesome vids!!!!
Thanks RD!
A very cool guitar. Nice job, Bob. Thanks DB.
Always enjoy your reviews Darrell... this Bedford certainly is versatile! Thanks for sharing :)
Mine is on its way. So psyched.
I just ordered one. What do ya think??
Unique pickup set up. I do not think I have ever seen P-90,single, P-90. Beautiful guitar with cool sound but the gold hardware kills it for me
This is a color scheme where the gold fits imo, like a Lucille
Get the premier.. Its the same set up with chrome . I'm not a gold fan anyway. Ultimately they always tarnish. Not for me. I'm ordering one!
Get the premier ,a grand less, looks better, and sounds just good👍🏿
Awesome, Darrell!!!
Ol’ Bobby Weir knows his stuff
Great demo. First demo that didn’t overly obsess over the blender and gave me some examples of overdriven sounds. Nice job as always!
First! Love your vids# They are an inspiration to think outside the box and continue learning about guitar. All the best 🎸
Bang! I was looking for these electronics for soo long :oo Now this guitar has definetely my attention!
Amazing video of yours. Just loved them all. Plz keep making videos and entertain and give knowledge to us by your videos
That heel joint is awesome!
Great review, Darrell. I bought a reduced B stock one on the strength of your video and I couldn't be happier. Amazing guitar 😍
bobby is pretty underrated. Really is. Maybe nowadays he's a little rough on the strings. Nobody else for Jerry. He was one of the best musicians that walked this earth.
people also need to stop associating them with drugs, there are always drugs with a lot of people. They just didn't feel it was their place to tell people what to do and what not to do. It was about the music. Thats all.
Thank you for shining a light on Bobby. Absolutely one of the most underrated, unsung guitar heroes out there
No, he wasn't.
@@chipgaasche4933Seriously,you sound like a very simple minded fellow.
I watched bob weir use it, in dead n Co. but I didn’t know about the pickups and electronics. That’s a great guitar! It’s really cool how you are able to improvise and play that shows how the guitars can sound. Great demo!
Great demo, thanks!
Very cool guitar Darrell... wouldn't mind having that one myself!
beautiful guitar
Wow, great review! (And great guitar!)
I have never seen a d'angelico guitar personally. It looks so beautiful.
Wow. Impressive guitar. And stellar playing as always. Love the tones; less so the aesthetics. I would probably just get confused with that many options, but seems like that would be great for studio work.
Great review, what an incredible guitar. BTW, the audio recording was extremely well done. It always is, but is seems better this video..
Yes! More D'Angelico! Premier series please?
Another cool Video and another cool guitar...
Never heard of this model before-very cool!
This one from future men ! so clear notes
thank you for sharing such infromation
What a great axe!!!
I buy one 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Cant wait to open it and play it !!
Cool demo. Amazing features. I have a D'Angelico Boardwalk p90
And PRS Paul's. Partly thanks to your reviews. Love them
Amazing guitar
Mine only has one Duncan JB reverse zebra. I am too busy onstagege to change pickups on the fly. I only ever needed ONE pup. Tone is in the fingers mate!
this is really cool
Also, best sound I've ever heard in this channel.
OMGosh. The tones. I love the sound of the “All 3 p/u” option best! That’s freakin’ sweet.
Nice Vid Darrell! I have a set of the Noiseless SD P-90s on my Les Paul ‘60s Reissue (due to 60cycle hum) and I just Love them! That’s a Beautiful looking and sounding Guitar! I really wish they made the model I want in a Left Handed Version! Please keep up the Good Work! And Thank You for the Demo and Review!!
Happy 400k!!!!
What a beauty
My new favorite guitar
That headstock is NSFW!
Looks like a Savannah lamp post.
Yeah! My favorite brand! 😍
Damn! That's one beautiful, badass axe!
The one thing I found a little odd is that it looks like you have to turn the blend knob "down" in order to activate the blend mode. I wonder why that is? I would think it should start at the "zero" position, and blend up the same direction as volume and tone.
At any rate though, still awesome! Excellent job, Bob!
Love it and it can rock out too 😊
Those noiseless p90’s sound fantastic !! I’m not a fan of hum. My only p90 guitar has lollars, they sound great but they’re noisy
Another great video thanks Darrell, love your playing, your solo's always kick ass!! I love the looks of the Bob Weir model but with electronics like this I'm guessing not many people could afford it. I'd love to see you do a comparison video between the Washburn NK35HB semi-hollow and the Epiphone Lucille, I loved the one you did between the DeAngelico and Lucille, I'd like to see how the Washburn NK35HB stacks up in your opinion. I have the Washburn NK35HB so I'd like to hear your opinion on those two. Thanks and keep on rocking! 🎸🎸🎶
Utterly amazing. Beautiful guittar. Looks like the basis for the ultimate kit build IF (a very big IF), I could get my head around the electroninics.
You are susch a tease tho, making us wait for the upgrades. My guess is they won'nt actually make that much difference. Can't wait to see.
My dream guitar when it comes to the pickup variety and switching. ;-)
Bob Weir would come up with a guitar this. Such a genius he is
Tasty licks at the end! Glad the guitar isn't reliced and doesn't look like a Strat or a Paul. Rock on!
I agree with you, myself I don't like the reliced look, I would never buy a new guitar that looked all beat up that's stupid, if it looks like that, I want it to be because I've played it for so long it has that look earned from year's of playing by me.
Kent Rath I would never buy a new guitar that is reliced. What a waste. If a guitar is beat up used you would pay less than if it is mint, yet if it’s beat up brand new it cost more. It doesn’t make sense to me. If you like the looks of old beat up guitars just buy used. It’s so strange to buy something new that is beat. Guitars are the only thing that happens. If it was a car or a tv or a house or anything other than a guitar no one would want to pay extra.
[Ultimate Epiphone seething in the background]
Fantastic guitar ! Thank you Darrell ! When shall we have a (professional) copy of the Wolf, or the Tiger ?
Nice !!
Thanks Darrell for showing me my next guitar. I have Fenders & Gibsons and my favourite guitar by a mile is my D’Angelico Excel DC semi hollow body in flame red. It’s streets ahead in playability & sound IMO and this Bob Weir signature will fill my P90 obsession perfectly.
How to play like Bob Weir live: Start playing the song, adjust your tone knobs, gesture to sound man to fix something, gesture again to the sound guy or guitar tech that something isnt right, keep playing, go to your rig control boxes behind you, mess with knobs, return to mic to sing next verse, gesture to guitar tech or soundman again, return to adjust knobs on rig box, shake head, pull out ear monitor and throw it on the stage in disgust, sing next verse, return to mess with knobs, shake head,, play the rest of the song. Continue above until his next song, a slide guitar gem with him and jerry such as Little Red Rooster, and watch him settle in and groove.
Its how he started every dead show.
Yes indeed. That was so typical of every Dead show. One time at Autzen Stadium he broke a string on the first song, Jack Straw. He stormed off and you could see him back there shaking the guitar in some techs face. That was fine. It gave Jerry time to do a much longer jam solo.
Ha! Did some of the same at Dodger stadium last Saturday. Never lost a beat.
funny lmao😊
Those D’Angelico headstocks are weird but soooo cool looking. God bless!!!
I have a 79 Ibanez st300 with pre amp. 2 humbuckers with coil split and polarity change. Also quite a lot of possibilities but in the end I always use the same 3 combinations.. Great video Darrel thx for sharing
One of the most beautiful looking guitars I have ever seen. That color in satin with the gold and pearloid pick guard.... mmmmm
What a delightful oddball. I have to wonder how much spaghetti wiring is in that thing to make it do all those combinations. It's a rather pretty guitar, too, though I'd like it in some wild colour.
Bright red would look good.
After giving it some thought, I figured out how to do the "odd man out" function (all three pickup on positions 1, 2, 4 and 5) with a 4-pole super-switch (although I used a pull pot instead of a blend control). I've employed it on one guitar so far, about to use it on another one. Cool stuff!
Didn't notice much of a drop off in tone in the bridge between the stack and split. On another note, this has an MSRP of $1,999 and is a MIK.....I realize the pickups add to the cost, but still a bit overpriced imo.
with the money conversion rate, that's over 3 Grand New Zealand Dollars... IF you can even get one here
I agree, this should be a sub 1.2k axe. That's what happens when you slap "insert famous musician here" model. You're going to overpay.
Especially with such a bland finish. I picked up a mint condition custom shop strat for less with a freakin quilt top!
Buy the premier, just as good. Half the price
I have a 78' ibanez bob weir
The best les p.. i ever played.
Wall done sir
I used to have a Fender Modern Player Telecaster, that was an extremely versatile beast
I believe the most versatile guitar has to be Brian May's red special . It has two switches for each pickup. On/off toggle and in/out of phase . So you can have whatever pickups you want on and select which you want in or out of phase . Produces some tones that I've never heard on any other guitar too !! Anyway great video as always mr Darrel and awesome guitar!
in order for a guitar to be dubbed "the most versatile" it would need a piezo pickup. that is the most different sounding pickup for electric guitar and can be blended with magnetic on some really versatile guitars.
@@GenesisMuseum hmmm yeah that would be quite versatile .and they produce very unique sounds . So i cant disagreement really
Not at all what I usually picture when I hear the name "D'Angelico". Cool guitar, though.
This is the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen
Don't waste your money I promise you'll regret it!
@@Charlieboy2680 What don't you like about it?
@@riverjubilee7702 first off it's heavy and not well balanced at all, plus it feels cheap. I'm not saying I don't think it's a cool guitar but it's INSANELY OVERPRICED. It's a little over 2000 bucks. For that money your in gibson les paul American made land. This guitar does not come close to the quality and most important the playability. So you don't have the 2000 grand . So you get the premier model for 1000. It's all no name electronics and tuners. If you spend 200 more dollars more. you could get a American made Gibson les paul tribute which is all gibson electronics and the same as the gibson standard For 2400. It just dosnt have the same finish as the more expensive guitar but all the same electronics. To each his own.. All I know is I've played alot of 1000 prs, deangelico etc. Once you play a gibson for me the difference is so huge. I would as someone who's had this guitar look elsewhere but thats just me. Also when people are given guitars for free by the company they give biased reviews. He says it's the most versatile guitar he's ever played. I guarantee he never mentions that guitar again. Whatever the company gives him for free will always be a great guitar. Thats what happens when you sell your soul. They own you.
@@riverjubilee7702 Grateful Dead is my favorite band by a long shot. Trust me I wanted to love this guitar!
@@Charlieboy2680 Thanks for your feedback! I will take it into consideration. I've bought the Premier version since I posted my original comment and I love it. I agree the deluxe is extremely overpriced. For that kind of money it should play as well as american-made Gibson guitars
God damn! When you went into Position 4 I thought I was hearing isolated Bobby tracks!
A beautiful quality instrument! Now if there would be a model designed after the Yamaha SG or Revstar without having to pay an arm and leg for it. Thanks Darrell for another gr8 find!
Get the premier for a grand I have one without the bling, and Duncan designed pickups ,sound to my ears just as good with less noise. Go to the DA
I can't believe this video popped up in my reccommened videos today. I just bought a new one of these from Sweetwater yesterday. I am having it Plekked and adding a tusq nut. I should have it in less than 2 weeks. :)
The biggest find in the guitar world is the hot shots by SD. It lets you split the coils and choose between parallel and series all in the mounting rings. For LP or flat guitars. I've started changing out all my guitars with them. Not that the push pull pot is bad but these are SOOOO much easier to wire into the guitars. The first pair I got was with SD p-rails put into my LP. Absolutely amazing sound! On a clean channel there is such a difference between the parallel and the series wiring. I had no idea. Darrell can you do a demo of them.
Hey Darrell, superb job! Im considering getting one, I dont have a p90 guitar, but I do have a st vincent with mini humbuckers . Im assuming you've played one before, in your assesment how much different are mini humbuckers from p-90s?
I want this guitar
Keep on truckin
I have been wanting one of these since they were announced like 6 months ago
Your vids are great
Thanks JS!
And Eastwood Guitars is releasing a replica of one of Jerry Garcia‘s guitars, what a time to be a Grateful Dead fan
You should check out a Fender Classic Player Triple Telecaster! Three Broadcaster pickups, 5-way switching!
I'm not the biggest fan of D'Angelico styling but I would have to agree with you Darrell, this is a really well made guitar with so many tones and great sounds. The noiseless P90's are fantastic!
I'm kinda liking the offset styling!
@@garlandlabat4922Just got mine 4 days ago, it's crazy..trying to figure it out, beautifuly made ,so comfortable to play...really well made,.
