Interesting idea -- but I don't see how the engineering justifies the price. Which is not mentioned at all, but I saw it was close to $16K? Wow ... Honestly, for that much, I'd rather get 3 or 4 custom guitars configured properly to match the style. Anybody with enough money for this single guitar and who's a professional probably has a roadie to carry their guitars around. And probably loves having many guitars. I sure do!
Yeah, that is exactly what I thought, the idea is good, but it simply make no sense when you look at the price. For sure, if the mecanism is all hand made, in house, only for a few pieces it will cost a fortune to make, and I agree that the guys at Wild customs should be able to benefit from their innovation. But if it is pricier than two or three custom made guitar, It no longer make any sense, especially when you take into account that the sound of pick up is also linked to the way the guitar is built (bolt-on VS set neck, etc.). They should at least try to offer a model maybe with only two set of pickups or even only one set that you can upgrade at some point (but I guess the pricing is not really linked to the price of the different parts anyway...). The Relish guitars model, which have a similar swappable system are closer to 6000 (they even have a simpler model that is less than 2000). Okay the relishs do not have rotary pick-up, you have to change them one by one, but will you really change your pick up during a song ?
Agreed. If I had a 16k guitar budget, I wouldn’t spend it on this. It’s really cool but I’d much rather just have several guitars. Almost just as easy to switch pickups (ya know, just plug in a different guitar) AND they would look much better hanging on the wall.
This company also makes a 70,000 euro guitar, so it's not about the economy of the instrument as much as it is a status symbol. Some people are nuts and will pay for anything.
On one hand the engineering behind this is absolutely incredible. On the other like the difference in swapping pickups on the fly doesn't actually seem like very useful. Like sure you vary the tone a little, but the amp and pedals you plug make a much bigger difference.
Agreed. With modeling effects as they are today, this sort of thing is really geared for those Tone Clones who insist on purity in their playing. Meh. When the drums are thumping and the bass player is loud, can the audience actually HEAR the difference? Yeah maybe a guitarist can but anyone else? And if they're groovin' to the music do they really give a crap?
My first thought was for a Nashville or other area studio musician... And (IMHO) if you can really "play" the instrument, and don't just use distortion to cover all the mistakes, etc... yes you can hear (and feel) the difference... I wouldn't say this guitar would be for metal... seems like for metal you just crank the amp to 11, add in some kind of cheesy BOSS distortion/fuzz/overdrive and break eardrums with a bunch of flashy finger tappy stuff and whammy bar horsie sounds... This guitar would be for all the rest of the world's guitar music... not for metal... plus it's not pointy or neon green... you gotta have that color (or similar) to look cool playing metal... LOL

I'd be quite happy with that actually.
Ain't got 16k to spare on a single guitar. XD
They cant. The fact that it's so expensive is because most guutar manufacturers won't be able to replicate the design.
Damn you beat me to it!
@@hotman718 I sincerely hope you're being sarcastic over there. I'll give you the fact that no-one before them (that we know of) has actually put it to practice like these guys have done, but "most won't be able to replicate" a pair of lever pulleys and an electrical contact system that has been around since the times of wireless home phones? Come on
Love the way this guy plays the guitar! very distinct...
This comes to light when a laser printer company designs an electric guitar...
All I can say is ... wow!
If you remove all the pickups, could you use it as an acoustic guitar? 🤣
With all that movement, I can see the pickup contacts getting dirty and it looks like the points inside the guitar might be a little difficult to clean.
I can build my own for less, including all the tools needed 😂😂
please do it and call me back
Hey, considering everything, the custom case, the bleeding edge of guitar tech, and the exclusive nature...I suppose if you have the means then you've got the beans!!!
I'd LOVE to have one like it!! The different tones you were getting were fantastic!!!
THANK YOU for sharing!!
Whelp now I know the first thing I’d buy if I won the lottery
I'd get a '64 Strat. The holy Grail of Strats, a 59 es335, a 52 telecaster, and a 58 Les Paul. We are talking the "lottery" not a scratch and win!!
I’d buy picks
The most beautiful guitar I've seen 😍
I dont know why nobody has done this before...
Is it me or is this the best sounding guitar on your show yet!? Just incredible?
I’ll wait till the coronavirus wipes out humanity...then I can afford one
It might wipe out your Grandparents then you'll inherit some money and buy one.
Robert Makins dang they’re dead already
Valid strategy Kevin.
oh yeah a virus with 2% death rate could do that

Great breakdown Daryl. Things are morphing in the guitar world. Pick up's make the guitar. So many options to choose from. Nice to have options without solder : )
In France, we don't have oil but we have ideas.
You don't have oil but you have huile
Great video, thank you for your time and work.
Cool and interesting idea. It just looks cheap and horrible imo. For that price they should have spent a bit more time on the aesthetics.
Now that right there is real innovation. Thank you Darrell and thank you to Wild Customs. ya'll Gy-rock!
The price on these is just absurd, I love quirky stuff like Relish’s touch screen pickup selector, but this is ridiculous, 16 grand for what looks to be an extremely average spec guitar with one unique feature
How do they manage the tone capacitor and pot resistances changes needed when going from single coil to humbucker
$16000?...no thanks, I could buy like 40 nice squires instead!
Wow man that's so awesome, that guitar is very beautiful and sounds amazing
"For the person that doesn't want multiple guitars" ... sounds link not a guitar player to me.
"sounds link"
