  • Even before COVID, addictions were being catered to better than a billionaire in a luxury box. Every company wants to be our next addiction. Not just alcohol and tobacco either, but tech companies and food companies too. From workaholism to social media addiction, it's hard to find someone who isn't addicted to at least one thing.
So why are we so easily addicted? What in our mind is being hijacked by the stronghold of addiction? Why is addiction itself become such an epidemic? And most importantly, what can do about it for ourselves, our loved ones, and humanity? In this video, I share these answers and more.

Despite not having any of the listed ones, I knew I have a blind spot and missing an addiction I wasn't able to pin point. Then I've heard Eckhart Tolle's words on addiction to one's opinions and that was it. Since I've let go of clinging to my opinions and strenousness associated with it, I am mostly in a state I like to call sweetness of existence.

Thank you, this has been really useful for me to hear. I have overcome a number of destructive addictions in my life. But lately I feel I have become addicted to being active, busy, always having to do something. I don't think it's all about escaping the present moment as I think I have developed a mindset in which I need to be doing something to feel like I am being useful and productive. Hearing you talk about doing nothing, just sitting with yourself and being with whatever is going on internally has made me realise the importance and value of this. Thank you again for your guidance and teachings.

Beautiful video-had me mesmerised! There are so many actions and behaviours that I didn't realise are addictions until I observed what my habits were-even down to damaging thought patterns and beliefs about myself, others and the world. Trying to turn life around to being more conscious, intentional and positive is difficult but better for not just myself but for others around me.

Super accurate explanation of addiction. So basically it’s an escape from what is, a lack of courage to feel and be present with an emotion.

So true, spent a lifetime trying to fix myself with outside influences, which in turn became addictive, now spending the rest of time getting rid of them as they dont work for me, they may have given short term relief however that soon became a misery and at time life threatening (drug addiction), today for me i now chip away at the minor ones as I have dealt with the most significant ones, learning to be still, to be in the moment regardless of how I feel or think is a incredible experience, today iam very much ok with myself, love your chats and Pearl's of wisdom 🙏 AUM Shanti

I have struggled in the past with a secret alcohol and cigarette addiction. Even my closest friends were unaware of this. NOT fun! Being in the present moment, mindful of the beauty around us and all we have to be grateful for is the way to go. Thank you Todd for your selfless service. 🙏💕

This is also why so many people can only release an addiction by replacing it with another. If you stop and listen to why you need/want something you may learn something about yourself that you didn’t want to know.

If you are interested; psilocybin mushrooms can help. I have read that 85% of people who try psilocybin are able to quit after. I quit smoking years ago by myself but it was VERY difficult. Good luck.

I just do everything like gambling and Playstation. I am usually consciouss of my behaviour and watch it interstingly how it make me feel when unlucky shoe comes in baccarat. But I don't react anymore like I used to be anxious. Now I just observe. But that boredom I need to work and sit with it because I just fill my time to avoid boredom and I feel it's often bringing apathy and low energy and I need to get silence to work my too busy mind to peace. Thanks for the video.

    • @griffinbrand5300

To observe is good, but to observe and then ask yourself ‘why?’ Is excellent. Ultimately, you can even go beyond excellent, if you choose to know yourself, which is done through observing yourself. I have found the best observation is done through contemplation, and then when contemplation is done, just breathing.
I would recommend sitting with yourself, in a chair with your back straight, or on a cushion or on the ground or wherever (bed is not ideal), and just breathe with yourself. In n out. If your mind is wandering, take note of where, and ask why it wanders there. This will help you know yourself.
If it can’t focus, focus it on something positive or joy-bringing or strength-inducing, something great. Construct an image in your mind of that thing. Your mind can do all things, if you train it.
If focusing is strenuous, let go. Just breathe with your heart. Be yourself without being.

    SO SLOW

  • @AnthonyPoetica
    @AnthonyPoetica 2 роки тому +3

Addictions are caused by Loss of Essence (Soul Loss), these 'gaps' or 'holes' in our essence are brought about by all kinds of trauma (Physical, Psychological, Emotional, especially the loss of a Loved One; Human or Other) and so we try to fill those holes in our essence with things that satisfy the ego, but only for short measures of time because only essence can replace / rejoin essence. The addictions such as Food (especially ego foods like sweet and savoury things: Chocolate, Crisps). Alcohol, Drugs, Sex, Spending / Buying things we do not even need. Those momentary 'highs' mask over the yearning our soul / essence yearns for to be re-united with those lost soul parts. It is true that being present can help, but the best cure is to consult a Shamanic Practitioner or other Healer who can restore one's essence to it full self.
The problem is whilst there is Soul Loss on an individual level, there is also Huge Soul Loss Collectively, Geographically / Globally, in partnerships/marriage's, families, friendships, communities etc etc and this Loss is growing daily because the individual addictions feed into the family, the community and so on. The way that fast foods are being promoted and advertised and are (literally) being shoved down peoples throats simply adds to that sense of wanting. A side affect of poor diet is being over-weight and the related diseases; Diabetes, High Cholesterol levels, Heart problems, Exhaustion, which is further exacerbated by having to work long/er hours and so not be able to eat or exercise properly. And of course these contribute significantly to Psychological and Mental Health issues, poor self-esteem,
All these things feed into an overwhelming sense of wholistic "Illness". The Big Food chains, the Fashion industry, the Drug Companies are all about Profit, they do not give a damn about their customers and their well being, there mantra purports to ' give you that something that will make your life complete' .The latest car, outfit, house, jewellery etc etc the list is endless, but all of them are in fact feeding off the individual and collective soul loss, and so it is a vicious circle.
If you really want to end your addiction/s and change the trajectory of your life and (hopefully) those around you, go see someone who practises Soul Retrieval.
