New versions only have outlets on one side, don't have the table in the drawer, and don't have the light in the top. They cost about the same as couple years ago but are missing those features.
Fyi… I just ordered mine today after watching this video 2 or 3 times over the past couple weeks…. Found it $100 off and a $75 credit card promo… couldn’t resist… thanks!!! Super excited to pick it up!!!
I do automotive for a living. Bought the Husky 52" in January and it's been great so far. Not sure if I should blame it on thin metal or "lower quality", but one thing I noticed recently is the bigger bottom drawer making contact with the welds on the very bottom of the box. I do have some weight in that drawer but it is not jam packed. I had to remove the drawer and grind off a little bit of the welds (don't remember if it was 2 or 3) so it does not make contact anymore when opening and closing the drawer
Just came from HD looking at the 52 inch, but the new ones didn't have the wooden work layer, nor plugs on both sides, only one side. My guess is they dropped those to keep the cost down.
AWESOME review. I am currently looking to purchase this box and as you mentioned, I did compare it to the larger Husky box but didn't know about the smaller drawers...TYVM for bringing that to out attention. I am now sold on this box due to your detailed review.
Great review brother! I just purchased this exact box from my local Home Depot store and they will be delivering it tomorrow. Looking forward to getting it! Thanks for your insights!
Just bought one this morning. They $200.00 off and with my veterans discount that's another 80.00 off. So with taxes it was roughly 760.00 for me. Haven't picked it up yet but I'm sure I'll like it. Excited to get off work today and get her all setup.
Valve spring compressing tool…. Invaluable tool. Bought this on sale the other day… great box but I’m short so the writing surface is a little high for me. Great video, thanks for posting.
Tool was steering wheel puller, and modified to make it easier to remove lock ring on all general motors vehicles, and most others...using a dental pick,or similar piece of gear..and it also appears to be a press and puller since your modification which you can easily turn with new modification....so what did I win?
The Home Depot's delivery service is really frustrating. I was supposed to receive my Husky 52" Toolbox Combo two weeks ago, but the delivery never showed up. I rescheduled for August 3rd, but once again, they never showed up. Now, my next delivery date is set for August 12th, 2024. Since I bought the Husky Toolbox, the price increased by $200 before taxes.
Ahhh! That’s frustrating. I’m sorry to hear that! I definitely would be making some calls to the store manager and higher if needed to get the lower price. That is poor customer service. Thankfully, I was able to fit mine in my suburban and get it home so I didn’t have to deal with that.
funny, i did the same comparison with harbor freight, and the bigger model husky. i also thought US general was crappy. i just ordered this one, for my job, Im a mechanic/lead maintenance guy.i just ordered this exact chest about an hour ago online for pickup, and now looking up youtube videos about it
Just looked at my local HD today and they had 1 version 3 with the wood work top and 1 version 4 without for just under $800. Think ill go back and get the old dusty version 3 since its got the dual plug ins. Got enough gift cards from work to cover the price, win win
This is a great review thanks so much for making! I too am looking at the 3 boxes and had the same observations (except drawer height). This version (3) of the box does not seem to be available anymore. Version 4 does not have the LED or wood work top and is 19ga rather than 18. Hope it is as good.
Just looked at the box in HD today and noticed the small differences. I like the wooden work top in this one but then again, it might just always be in the way, so... probably not a big deal that it's gone.
@@jahnkaplank8626 Yea its kinda cool but not critical. I've overall been happy with my box but the top sticks when I first open it. It also took quite an effort to get one that was not damaged (which you often find out at home after you lugged it). Overall pretty happy with it and it does look cool.
@@jahnkaplank8626 which version are you getting? The one I got later went on sale for $400 off. I was able to get a store credit for it rather than price adjustment because the sales are store only
That's a good question, I'm not sure if it attracts dust, but it sure gets dusty in my garage. But- so does everything else. It comes off easily with compressed air so I don't stress over it. Hope that helps.
I just had to deal with the stickers being obnoxious. A heat gun will let you peel the remaining sticker right off. You might need some Goo Gone for any residue that's left.

I have owned this same box for 5 years and would highly recommend it for any Mechanic.I work on Small Engines and use it every day.
Great! Thank you for the validation, I like mine very much.

@@BadHombreGarageand I just watched this as I’m finishing my setup. No wood and no lights inside the top portion.

Yup. No more dual outlets, top light, or wood cover thing

Nice, I need to stand my sockets up and I can't stand that the HF drawers can only open from grabbing them at the latch. Thanks for the review.
Glad you found it helpful.
Very good review. I also got the 52” over the 56” because of the height of the drawers. 👍🙏

I keep wrenches, and plyers, includeing pipe wrenches, adj, wrenches and the like in sepreat drawers, that way they dont get mixed with hand wrenches.

I just got mine. Do your casters make a popping sound when you push around?
I do not recall any noises, but I haven’t pushed mine very much.
It’s a valve spring compressor. I have one just like it. But it is a bear to keep on the spring. Nice box!
Winner! But did you notice the modification?
@@BadHombreGarage the socket on the top?
@@ronsgarage4230 yep! A ratchet makes it so much easier to handle with some bigger springs.
Did we miss it? Was looking forward to seeing the One Hombre stack the boxes.
Ha! Yeah you missed it. I didn’t video that rodeo, though I probably should have.

It was the only reason we suffered through the whole thing. Just say'in......
That tool was a valve spring compressor and what looks like a socket welded to it so you could use a ratchet

In Canada this box comes in 20 gauge steel and not 18 like the US. Also can't get the 56 in Canada anymore.
