In Eurovision all singers should sing in their mother language. If all sing in English it' a British Song contest. Different Countries, different cultures. W diversity.
@Sabrina Filiputti Countries are allowed to not sing in their mother language because many of them would be disadvantaged if they did. Languages like Italian are "privileged" by being pleasant to listen to, but objectively: if Germany, Denmark, Sweden etc...were forced to sing in their own language they might lose many points cause many consider their languages really ugly. I'm more likely to like a song if the language it's in doesn't hurt my brain lol.

we always send good songs because you have to win the festival of sanremo to represent italy at the eurovision. the fact is that if you win sanremo, which is very important here in italy, your song can't be a bad song

I’m actually surprised that Italy hasn’t had the most wins ever
they dipped from the competition for 13 years, which included some weaker winners so I feel pretty sure Italy would have picked up some wins in the 2000's. but Italy is definitely gunning for that record, we'll probably see another win in the next 3-5 years. lets just hope they can host it a little more smoothly lol

After rehearing it again and again I believe this is one of Italy's best contributions of all time. It is haunting, unnerving and delicate at the same time. But also powerful and desperate. It conveys so many emotions and his voice nails every note. Grazie mille Marco!

Of course everyone is applauding him for this incredible song and his amazing vocals, but I also wanna take a moment to appreciate the staging.
I just loved how they just let him sing by himself with nothing but his raw emotion to convey the song. No crazy lighting or backdrops, just a dude singing his song. And then the fact that they put two guys on a trampoline in the background and never put them in focus. They were just there as a nice touch so something so simple and perfect. They really didn't need anything else. Incredible.

Yep, not my type of song, didn't at all enjoy it at first but when he was done I wanted him to win. It was so heartfelt and real, regardless of taste, anyone can relate to this pure emotion.
Italy holds the quality Eurovision needs. I wish they never withdrew from the contest (again). And Italian is so beautiful, this language is made for singing.

The Italian melody cannot be copied by anyone. Italians have it in them since the opera librettos of the 1800s. Italians have melody in their blood. And, if you notice, they know how to make songs that invite you to sing... unlike others

Italy's the only big 5 member who really takes Eurovision seriously.. I mean, they send amazing songs every single year and italian language is perfect for music
I've read by many many not Italians that Italian is perfect for music... And you're right since everyone uses Italian way of pronouncing vowels when they sing. The Italian vowels are called "pure" so maybe you didn't know, but you all perceived that "musicality" that is intrinsic to Italian language due to the fact that everyone use the pure vowels when singing.
It was worth learning Italian just for moments like this. When you can understand the words and emotion. 12 points from me from Lithuania.

@@giovannimoriggi5833 true but unlike the other Big 5 members, Italy has never sent a song that wouldn't have deserved to qualify from a semi final. Even their worst result since they returned to the contest (21st place in 2014) was a high quality song. Italy is the most consistent country in the contest next to Sweden and arguably Ukraine.
@@chrisperry5365 Yes, but in terms of speculations, we can only imagine what would be the impact of a Big 5 performance into a Semi.
I’m aware about the value of the Italian proposals, which are almost impossibile to compare, since there’s not even a try to win, and actually is everything just a picture from Sanremo and Italian culture. It would be something like taking the top 1 selling song from every country and then compare. Actually it doesn’t work really like that (for example: Insieme: 1992, a song that N O B O D Y never heard in Italy), but it’s a funny image. A lot more funny than countries battling.
This was my favourite performance of the night. An incredibly moving song, performed with deep emotion, and an incredible tone to his voice. Simply bellissimo from the UK.

@@leenieledejo6849 You're right but also wrong. It's legitimate to think that an artist is not authentic, because in order to work, they do have to show emotions. Not all artists are that deep. There's a certain nuance between athletics and art on a stage. Athletes also get emotional during performances, but there's no artistic content in sport, just saying.
You want to defend cold artists, but they do exist, that's beyond doubt, and some of them got many fans, that's not a secret.
