    Ironic that you showed the blue Breitling SOH. The green 42mm version on rubber has been a bridesmaid for me for 3 years. It kept getting bumped on the list in favor of other stuff, mainly due to price but also other impulses/fascinations. I think the fact that it's been on my mind so long means it's a safe bet. I just have to have the discipline to make it happen. My othe bridesmaid is a Skydweller but she will die an old Spinster before I'll ever be in the position to pop the question.

  • @realalexmackenzie

    The shortage of wrists is definitely a limiting factor in this hobby. I try and stay under 2 dozen watches, and I will swap out watches once or twice during the day. I feel that everybody gets appropriate wrist-time that way. Some more than others, but nothing wrong with having a few "occasional" watches.
    Glad to see another possible Paneristi in the making! I have been saying for the past few years that Panerai is THE value proposition right now. I might have gone a little overboard given that Panerai makes up literally half my collection right now, but no regrets. I love the 45mm Radiomir line. Definitely the most wearable size, while still remaining true to the brand ethos. In 45mm Radiomirs, I have a PAM 190 (JLC 877 movement - truly a phenomenal movement), a PAM 200 (white gold GMT - actually on the wrist as I type this), and a PAM 231 (base model design in rose gold). While I imagine some of the Panerai may move on to new homes in the coming years, I expect those 3 Radiomirs will be with me until the end. If I could only keep one watch from my collection for daily wear forever more, hands down the PAM 200.
    And on the subject of precious metal, the two aforementioned gold ones in my collection were not much more money than similar models in stainless steel. I also have a 1940 case in red gold and I absolutely love it. If Panerai in general is a good value proposition right now, then the precious metal is even more so!

    • @realalexmackenzie
      @realalexmackenzie 3 місяці тому

      @@BruceWilliams Nice! Definitely consider it! The simplicity of the PAM 610 is just so peaceful and elegant. I have a good number of 2-handers from Panerai and the look never gets old.
      If you're liking the wire lug Rad, but wanting a little more going on, then have a look at the PAM 268. I would have one myself, but it is very similar to my PAM 200, just minus the white gold and the GMT. The caliber is a variant of the p.2002, the first in-house offering from Panerai. Lots of Panerai-esque features to love, including the fabulous zero-reset found on the p.2002 movements!
      I will look forward to your future Panerai unveiling video, whichever one you end up with. :)

How can a person with a conscience do that?Enthusiasts, we get the wrong end of the stick regularly. This is a great excercise for any watch collector. The Panerai Submersible Bianco, 42mm with the white dial, has been just such a watch for me and the price has always been the dealbreaker even on the secondary and gray market. The black dial Vulcain Cricket Classique 36mm has also stuck around my interest list but it doesn't even show up on the secondary or gray market. On the more affordable vintage side, an all-original Seiko 5717 monopusher chronograph would complete my vintage grail list but they are often in poor condition or frankened and like most vintage Seiko chronographs, they do not have a running seconds sub-dial. There are others but there are too many to list.
