    Yassss! I love all the cool content on the channel, but this is the project I look forward to most. I’ll be doing belts on my 996 soon, and this is super helpful.

      Glad to hear Justin, the 748 project has been a little slow/ non existent the past 2 years but fear not plenty more to come 😬
      Good luck with your own belt change, take your time and it’s really not as bad as your local ducati dealer would make out 😅

      @@stoneautomotive it’s been worth the wait, and I’ve been really enjoying the E46 and E92 builds in the interim. My bike is currently stripped down and just waiting on parts, but it’s really not that bad. The anxiety building up to actually doing it is worse than the task itself.

    I'm weighing up getting a 748 in a local dealer, but looking at those frame welds, you can see the impact Audi QC has had comparing it to my 2020 Ducati!

      It’s all part of the “Ducati character” 😅
      So many niggles with the old ducatis but it’s also part of the fun.. sometimes lol.. just stick to looking at in the garage is the safest option 👍😅

    Nice vid well done. On my 996 I like to put marks on the existing belts to coincide with the pulley marks, then transfer these marks to the new belts and swap on. Makes it super quick to swap in new belts. Always been a fan of the pluck and tune belt tension method too, but usually do a few methods to confirm. Such cool bikes to spanner on

      Thanks 👍😎
      Yea I have seen that with the tip-ex, certainly makes sense in terms of ease of lining it all up for the refit 👌
      Agree, something really satisfying about tinkering in the garage, just itching to ride it now

      As long as the belt is correct, you are not going to somehow squeeze in an extra tooth on the belt between the cam wheels when you tension it correctly. No need for marking the belt with tippex. I mean, seriously?!

    • @Simey2wheels
      @Simey2wheels 2 роки тому +1

      @@tonebonetonesyou use tippex because one of the cams usually has some tension on it so it's possible one of them moves! The tippex method also marks the cams so you are sure nothing has moved. Cam locks can also be used which ensures they stay aligned. Unless you've done it you wouldn't know

    Thanks for the video tuition. I'll be attempting the belt change on my 748 soon and was putting it off due to the perceived difficulty, but this makes things clearer. Do you need to replace the cam belt cover gaskets when doing this?

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  2 роки тому +2

      The cambelt plastic covers did not have gaskets on mine (1995 model) although this would have been a good idea as looking at how they fit the covers would be splash proof at best (this another reason not to ride an old Ducati in the rain 😅)

    Dear Stone automotive. It is a really amateur question but maybe you can give me suggestion or experience about this that you disassembled too bike like this. I bought a ducati 748 motorbike and the air intake is on the front. (I dont have the small frames in it unfortunately. Now i am on to get those litle frames too that i want the bike is whole everywhere.) I am so that i want really take a good care this bike but on the weekend i had to ride whit it in really havy rain about 120 km.. I was so that it is sucks. The bike is in good condition. I want to take care the bike but i had to ride whit it in havy rain many km. In my thought was if those air intake stay on the front those working now as an watercollector... and what if water somehow can get into the engine. What do you think about this? Can engine have some damage or something bad that i rode in havy rain more km? Is it possible to get any water in the engine and making so any rust or something? I didnt have any problem and the bike working good but unfortunately still have some bad thoughts in my mind that in long time i can have something because water working in the engine. Making rust or anything. I am not from a long time a rider, interesting question i know but i am curious what do you think about this.

      It’s a valid question 👍 the majority of sports motorcycles run a direct airfeed to the front of the motorcycle to assist with the “ram air” effect, the you will be surprised how little water actually enters the intake (unless submerged) for example take a straw and take a pull from a drink, now try the same thing with a pin hole in the straw and see how you get on 😅
      Secondly the airbox has main drains in the lower section to allow for any water that does enter the intake/ airbox to drain naturally 👍

      @@stoneautomotive thank you your answer! Now i ordered the small grills in the front fairing:D One an other question. One of the exhaust. Maybe the left but could be that now i dont remember good can make white smoke. If i ride some than it is clear but i will more check it, but one of it make the white smoke usually. Why it comes from one and why makes it? Thank you!

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  Рік тому +1

      @@zoltan-8233 sounds like valve stem seals have worn on that cylinder that’s linked to that exhaust. You can perform a leak down test to check the piston rings/ piston and cylinder are in good order 👍

      Think of it more as back ground noise 😅
      Always a tough one as the silence sounds odd but you also don’t want a song with lyrics that you get into lol
