  • This is a clients Ducati 748 that has been standing for several years, and it is my task to get it fully roadworthy again.
along the way, I find many problems that will make this project very interesting

Wow...that tank is a nightmare. I've dealt with some massive rust issues on rebuilds, and would probably take that any day over the failed liner.
I use muriatic acid to clean and etch the inside of rusted tanks. Not the cleanest approach, but it works great.

Ueh, it does a great job removing rust, but you have to protect the metal straight away after, or it will flash rust

@@PXCBIKES Yes agree 100%. I was going to ask how you handled this mess with the fuel internal fuel pump...but I see you have a separate video on that! Gonna go check that out, enjoying the content.
      Cheers

Thank you. The tank was later sealed with... sealer after more rust treatment with harpic

It looks as if the tank wasn’t rust treated properly before applying the epoxy liner.

Afternoon my friend I also have had the same problem with 748s tank with rust. I made a plug for bottom of my tank and used the Electrolysis form of rust removal system and coated the inside of the tank with a Product called RedCoat. Its now been 7yrs and not a scrap of Rust has returned,
Good luck with project, Steve (Australia)

The 748 used to race in yellow so it's actually more "correct" for this model to be yellow as opposed to red

I had a yellow Corser replica RSV R. Thats the bike I never should have sold.

Yeh they look great... back in 2017 I went to a shop to look at a 2003 RSV R yellow it was immaculate with only 9k miles on it ...and only £2800 they were very cheap back then and I just totally regret not buying it. It was like brand new 😑

It was a shoo in Lancashire I think where it was ... I just wouldn't sell my mille now I know I wouldn't find another like It for cheap 😬

christ, that tank. my gorgeous duke, same colour as this won't start. nothing at all on the button. been standing ten years in the dining room, haha. didn't know of the button for the choke. DOH! new battery, solenoid. bugger. think it must be wiring issues, can't hear the pump or the solenoid click, it will turn over when bridging across the nuts. there's one cable i need to trace back that has no power, no ohms.

    • @PXCBIKES
      @PXCBIKES  2 місяці тому +1

Is the engine kill switch set to run ?

@@PXCBIKES yes, always aware of that when i got caught out once while i was out on it, came to a standstill. took me ten minutes to realise what i had done. going to check the stand switch today as the pump would come on when i raised the stand, now nothing. sort of ruling out the pump as neither it or the switch are working well the switch is working as i tested with a multi meter, just nothing happening.

@kennethtalbott2233 oh you can short out the two wires coming from the harness and see if that helps

@@PXCBIKES yes, i'm going to put a loop in the end to connect both cables together, don't want to cut the cable. i think we are both thinking the same way. ta.
