    Best 916-998 tutorial on UA-cam! So many others just skip through things(like disassembly). Thank You!

    999 owner here, ive had the new belts in the shed for months but been dreading doing the job. You make it look simple!

    996 owner here 👋 that is CLEAN. Great to see coverage on this era of Ducati 🎉
    Things that will make it even better / less problematic:
    1. Change the fuel filter
    2. Check the valve clearances
    3. Change your clutch basket and plates - they have notches in them. Theyre a little "too" noisey

    Lovely bike. I have a 2000 996 and absolutely love it. I bought it in 2010 and will probably never sell it. Mine has just over 13k miles on it and I sent it to the dealer for the last service as it was due for the valve adjustment which is something I am not comfortable tackling. I will certainly do the next cam belt change now that I have your awesome video for reference.

      Couldn't agree more! Cambelts are okay for the average guy but vales couldn’t be a bit tricky and sometimes better to let people do them who always have the heads off ect!! Thanks for the watch 👍

    Own an 1195 ‘10 RC8R gen 1 and a 2002 Ducati 996 Biposto in yellow which I pick up in 2 weeks. This is going to be a wallet saver!

    I would suggest a nice loud termi exhaust on it,, a nice free breathing air filter if it hasn't got on, dripping carbon fibre all over it,,nice sticker kit,, one of carl fogerty ones maybe...maybe light weight wheels later,, suspension upgrades ect .

      @jamescrawshaw71 11 місяців тому +1

    Count the number and mark the teeth between all of the sprockets or you might be in for some worry. It is difficult to mark the vertical belt at the sprocket but take your time. If you do this step methodically you cannot go wrong.

    Nice. I'm going to do my belts soon. One thing, I'm sure you know about the fast idle button under the throttle grip to help with cold starting?

    • @jamescrawshaw71
      @jamescrawshaw71 8 місяців тому +1

      I didn’t when I did this video but have learnt a lot since owning it! Had to set the idle properly too which is a lengthy process! Adjusting the screw is a bad idea and actually messes it all up…whoops haha

      @@jamescrawshaw71 That's the thing with these ducati's, they're a thing unto themselves, lots of differences to 'normal' bikes 😁

    "Good enough for me" is NOT correct, especially when producing an instructional video. The Gates checker is very good but should be used properly. The tension is measured on the "fixed" roller, NOT the "moveable" roller.........😢

    • @jamescrawshaw71
      @jamescrawshaw71 2 місяці тому

      Well when it’s reading the correct tension that IS correct for me and IS good enough for me!! I can assure you that I am checking the tension exactly where you are supposed to check it. So before devaluing a video make sure you get your facts correct.
