- Below is an account from my cousin about this guitar and where it came from. :)
History for the guitar as I know it......... So far! Was once said to of been owned by the producer of The Tube (mid 80's music show). Then owned by an art teacher who left it in his classroom for students to draw, but usually abuse! Bought by me in 1989, and fixed by old hat in 2014.
Thanks for watching. :)
I have the diamond pickups as well, but the serial number puts it at a 1963 model. Yes, the pickups could of been swapped out at some point. However, my father bought it in the mid sixties, only a few years after production. So unlikely they were changed. Does it matter what year it is. Not really as long as you enjoy the instrument. Great playing my man. You make yours sound a lot better then I can mine😅
Purchased my first Red Verithin around 1963/4 second hand £67.
Had same pick ups in 61. Got one bigsby on but swapped for trapeze. The bigsby were half the price of a new hofner club 60 with ebony and heavily decorated inlay. 17 guineas extra for bigsby and 40 guineas for the hofner club
60.
I have exactly the same guitar, but with a Bigsby fitted. Now I know it's a '62!! Glad you said it was awkward to play, thought it was just me. Cheers.
Great sound from the Hofner. It and the blues = a great combination. Nice video Dave, thanks for sharing.
SanAndFe Thank you for watching. :)

Your channel is one of my faves! Lol :-)
Thank you very much indeed. :)
Hi Dave ,
Just to say you have a great talent, both for your guitar playing and You Tube presenting.
I'd class my own guitar playing as very amateurish but thanks to people like you can inspire people like me to try and get better !
Keep up the good work .... 'You are awesome '
Simon Barnes Thank you very much for your kind words. they mean a lot to me. Keep playing and keep learning. Your only ever going to get better. :)
Great as usual.
I would really like to see you and Phil X have a guitar chat session and a little jamming.
pjfan173 Thank you and I would love that. That would be so much fun. :)
Hi Dave, love the video. I've got a Verithin like this - I love it! The Hofner "Diamond" pickups sound so much better than the humbuckers they started putting on everything a year or two later. Mine has an aluminium bridge and a nice Bigsby, and a really pretty flamed back. There's no pickup selector switch - I think yours must have been an afterthought. I'm thinking about putting a blend pot and a master volume in place of the two volume controls, to give me more control without changing the look of it. The guitar has a fat neck but a very low action, so I don't find it difficult to play, just a bit different. Seems to love blues, as you cleverly spotted! Cheers, mate, you brightened my evening.
+slowjammerukdog Nice. I think mine originally had a bigsby and the selctor switch was added some time in the past. Haha. Thank you so much for liking what I do. :)
Very cool blues dave, lots of carecter to the sound of that guitar, it's should be a keeper I think.
Thank you very much and i thinks so to. Its going no where. :)
damn that sounds nice! great playing
frallan Thank you and thanks for watching. :)
Awww maaan I wanna play that! Luuckyyyy! Lol
Ah, finger style! My nemesis, lol! Seriously nice job, good sir! If you have the inclination, could you put a finger picking lesson up here? Love the tones that can be had, I just can't seem to figure it out. Also, Orange should be paying you. Every video you make using that amp shows off how useful and versatile it is. I'm seriously leaning towards purchasing one!
GirlsGamesGunsGuitar Thank you very much and I will get round to doing a finger style lesson as soon as I can. :) The CR120 is an amazing amp and I would always say to people if you can get one. get one. haha . :)
GirlsGamesGunsGuitar Thank you for watching. :)
Nice demo Dave - any chance of an epiphone dot review sometime ? Cheers 👍🏻🎸🎩
+Rob Summers Thank you very much and as for the Epi review. I'll see if I can find someone with one willing to lend me it. Thanks again. :)
+Dave Simpson fabulous 👍🏻 or any other reasonably priced humbucked semi that is good in your esteemed opinion please - the epi gets good reviews on line, but it might be "advertising " if you get my drift ✌🏻️
That's one cool axe dave,do you use it much
J knight Not really no. Its not the easiest guitar to play. :)
Pickup selector on the top right bout? That's not original?
Yeah ! play the BOOGIE .... you miss the "vibrato" on this ! put a bigsby on it .... and ride the BOOGIE........Man !
