I remember seeing Babyshambles on Jools Holland and the guitarist was playing one of these I believe through a cranked marshall. Crazy tone!!

I had one for some time, but just could not get comfortable with the neck profile, and eventually moved it on. Sad day, as it was a beautiful guitar

That's brilliant guitar and lucky. Where did Geoffs site go. Had loads of models from lowest number to older models. Was brilliant catalogue.

I had one with a Bigsby in about 1980, it was beat up particularly on the neck. I swapped it for a synth., but I still wish I had it now.

Beautiful guitar! I’ve never played a Verithin that early with the single coil pickups. I really like the small humbuckers on the later ones I have played, very reminiscent of the original pre Les Paul Deluxe Epiphone mini humbuckers that were a bit stronger than the Gibson version. I’m just wondering if these are similar to the Epiphone New Yorker single coils they used before the mini humbucker, it’s hard to tell listening on my phone.

Hi Tom. I’ve never played those pick ups so i couldn’t comment. The Hofner toaster pick ups are very bright and distinctive though

Very interesting and informative video. Any information on the Hofner 177? Have one since 1972, what's your opinion of these?

Nice video, but next time please record with effects at minimum so we can actually hear the sound of the guitar itself.

1961 did hofner route tops to fit pick ups around 600 mark? As saw 602 with routed half way through body for pick ups to not be too high? Maybe temporary until sorted body shape. Just cant imagine it getting lower over time not bulging to need routed very well . Matching surround exactly. Like 2 kg weight. Also sound rings for long agter hitting string. Underrated guitars. Club 60 1959 650 but never trusted no truss rod although was ebony and no chance of being twisted especially with the 5 lly binding on back of neck. 4 years ago now 4 times the codt now:(

What s the point in trying to show How à guitar sounds when all I hear is delay, wha, and other effects. Totally meaningless.

I agree. Dudes are all in with their pedals nowadays. I want to hear the clean tones on a sweet amp.

I suppose the build quality of that original, is far superior to the reissue China made models. Eh???
    Great video!
