    I love your channel. I grew up camping with my Mom and Dad. Then when I had children my two daughters and I went all the time. My husband and son did not like to go. Lolol. I can’t go any more. Battling lung cancer but doctors says looks like I’m winning. Hope you have a successful trip traveling and camping. God Bless.

    In 1936-, an attorney from
    Fayetteville named Bernal Seamster and his friends built a two-room log building on a
    low bluff about a half mile below Hemmed-in-Hollow. The men called it the Clubhouse
    and used it for a weekend retreat. Sometimes they literally hunted and fished from the
    cabin's front porch, which hung over the river. After a few years the men quit using the
    cabin and soon afterward it burned. A chimney and stone piers still mark the site. 120

    Actually the Jacks Fork River and Current River in Missouri were the first Rivers to be designated a National Park in '64 (finalized in '71, so just eeking out the Buffalo). Same situation, nearly dammed it. I wanna say the Eleven Point is similar.
    They're very similar to the Buffalo just smaller in scale and they mainly are gravel and chert riverbeds. I'd highly recommend floating either.. Jacks Fork has been a favorite of mine and I've been going over 40 years.
    Waking up in the Ozarks, with a crystal clear stream, rolling forested hills, the fog.... There is noting like it.
    Either way- awesome video, gorgeous river, great content, keep up the good work. Love your videos!

    • @t20sgrunt36
      @t20sgrunt36 3 роки тому

      @@jfc1432 I did some searches and see ‘71 for current & jacks fork, Buffalo is ‘72.
      Definitely check it out, it’s amazing. The water is so clear. Bring masks and snorkels.
      For a family, I like the Alley Springs camp ground on the Jacks Fork. It is very well maintained, free hot showers, park ranger activities for kids, and an amazing little swimming hole with a bluff.
      Edit- found what you meant with “river” vs “river system” . Seems a bit arbitrary since the system is focused on the rivers but I see what you’re saying

    • @t20sgrunt36
      @t20sgrunt36 3 роки тому +1

      @@jfc1432 yeah, curious to know for sure.
      If you go, avoid late July and early august. Sometimes the moss can get annoying above Alley Springs.
      Be sure to check out alley springs, Blue Springs (on the Current), Rocky Falls, Echo Bluff, the wild horses (try Shawnee area right before dusk). And seriously bring mask and snorkels, half of the amazing sights are under water. Enjoy you’re trip!

    I'm blessed to live here. I go every weekend it's warm to fish. The same exact section of river lol. My house is 5 minutesaway just up the mountain. I was blessed to find this place a few years ago, it's a hidden Secret. If you guys come back check out Whitaker point, and Lost Valley which is right beside where this was. Lost Valley has an underground waterfall inside of a cave that you have to get on your hands and knees for about 30 ft before it opens up with an amazing waterfall room. It's awesome up here

    On my canoe trips,, long distance,, I normally start the day with 5 or 6 liters of water or Gatoraid down by my feet. I have usually consumed all of that by noon or shortly after. Between 1 and 2 gallons of water per day. Out in the SW US that can be as much as 3 gallons per day, or more (115F this week?) 2 cups per minute,, I am gonna be there for a long time.

    The story we were told about the chimney on bluff was that it was a place where the men went to play cards and drink, the women way back then didn't like it all got together and burned the place down. You should see granny Henderson house up in the woods. There are some amazing places to see while hiking or horseback riding the trails out of steel creek. I always put 75% of the recommended water into the freeze dried MRE's. Yours look a little watery. Come out to Colorado and I'll take y'all rafting in Colorado/Utah canyons. On Buffalo river are there requirements for packing out human waste/portable toilet systems? On our rivers we have pretty strict rules about packing out waste and also packing out all ash/fire debris and have to carry a required fire pan to catch all ash. Cool videos!

    A couple of comments:
    1. Your videos are a terrific intro into life in AR. As a person who lives in the North-east, I've not sen any video of the woods in that part of the country. Thank you for changing that for many of us. Your videos have gotten consistently better and what I really like is how chill you guys are. Some videos give me anxiety because the creators are clearly stressing about trying to entertain viewers. #whoneedsthat
    2. Your decision to go full-time must count as the least surprising development ever! :-) We are weekend warriors who have been RVing for the last 4 years averaging 50-60 nights a year. You guys will rock it and that NOBO trailer is perfect for you. I've not seen a similar floor plan so you guys hit the jackpot in terms of finding the needle in the haystack.
    3. This video is one that makes me _really_ miss canoe camping. I was an avid paddler before we had kids. I'm so glad you guys are living the dream!
    Good luck on your preparations for going full-time!

    Thanks for the video! Perfect timing- trying to get my son to go w me, want to drop in at Boxley Bridge to Pruitt Landing on the paddle boards. We can stand-up or attach the kyak seats.
    Few years back kayaked Ponco to Kylee Landing weekend before 4th- it was so crowded no place to stop for lunch & swim & the water levels low so their were traffic jams. So many on the river & beaches w their glass bottles- people who can't follow simple basic wilderness rules need to stay in the burbs
    Thanks again!!

    Beautiful video. I hope to one day float the buffalo myself. One thing to note . No need to filter cooking water since it will be boiled anyway just save your filter for drinking water .

    I have floated the Buffalo several times before but not camped yet. That is on my bucket list. I have been gathering things here and there to get ready. Motorcycle camping is on my bucket list too. We've been to Ouachita Lake once but in a camper, but we did have our kayaks.

    I know this is an 'older' video, but I love the Buffalo. I drive down from Kansas City to Ozark at least once or twice a year. Single, 63, but I leave my camping gear in my truck so all I have to do is pack up water, perishable food and a cooler. I love the peace and quiet. I spend time in Ponca too. I much prefer the upper Buffalo rather than Buffalo Point. Leaving tomorrow to get there and relax for Memorial Day. I don't mind the crowd because watching the kids (and some adults) jumping off the bluffs is always fun. I usually hang out a bit at Ponca Landing swimming in the deeper water by the low bridge.

Water levels looked pretty low, amazing underwater shots but had me nervous that y'all were gonna scrape bottom. As always, great content and I am also amazed by how brave you all are to wear sandals doing all that, I hate me wet shoes and socks but dang I am always too scared to wear sandals in the wild 😂.
