11:25 not just his first language but also the accent, the difficulty level of loonie's verse are insane yet he executed it so naturally. Super versatile, well-rounded and hella entertaining battle rapper!!
@@prodbysvlfr yeah there’s pros and cons for both. With a beat it’s probably a little harder as it gets technical with the flows. Syllables gotta fit with the bars. Then we have without beats where we focus more on the diss or rebuttals. I personally enjoy having both. Maybe Filipino rap battles are still evolving and developing and will pick up soon. Maybe 🤣
@@vidgood8682 as the person above said, there's some other leagues that still do that. Fliptop also does have it but only in their sort of 'qualifiers' where they pick amateurs with potential.
@@karimlan6988 and what i just said earlier, that hopefully Filipino freestyle rap battles can evolve into having both creativity(spoken word concept) and technicality(beat syllables and rhymes) into one. And yes as mentioned from others that other leagues do it. But my perspective is that not as many people do it as much as like the spoken word format and I’m hoping that it will soon. I can’t speak Tagalog but understand it. Filipino rap have the sickest flows due to the words having many consonants and syllables that it starts sounding like bone thugs. Anyways have a good night.
It has been part of our culture ever since traditionally we call this, "Balagtasan" which two participants debate poetically in front of the crowd on the spot. Usually back in time, there's a topic that two sides should be biased on. Now it turned into "Fliptop" which more like turned into 'trashtalk', sometimes through rap or impromptu. Now at 17:35, Loonie says, "Now check it, Imma legend, they refer to me as 'alamat' (legend), I'm about to crush this ginger and turn it into 'salabat' (ginger tea)" Is actually got me 😂😭
Loonie is the " Constantine" of Rap Scene in the Philippines. He can crossed both mainstream and underground. One of the best EMCEE in the Philippines tbh.
fliptop was the most viewed battle rap league in the world.. its so phenomenal i was so shocked to know that Philippines has the most hiphop movement in the world.. i thought versus was
Deym Didn't Expect This.. I Hope You Can Also Watch "Filipino Spoken Poetry" Most of Them are using Deep Tagalog.( Matatalinhagang Salita) I'm sure you'll love it and enjoy it.
Love this for real! Fliptop battle here in the Philippines is on a different level. If only you could understand how deep the words they use, you'll be blown for sure and have goosebumps all the time. 😁 And also, i don't like Loonie's songs but I love watching him battle. 🤗
the way i gasped when i saw that you check out our local battle rap. and when ezra said that we should let you guys know if we want some more and you’re willing to check them out, i’m like “hell yeah, we finna get into this.” most people may turn this shit down but not me tho. i ain’t part of that crowd because this is right up my alley _as i was a former exclusive hip hop head before i became a k-pop stan._ btw, props to ezra for introducing this to you. i suggest the one with _zaito vs charron_ *since it both has eng & fil sub* AND *sak maestro*’s debut battle against *zero hour*. i’ve rewatched it so many times that i’ve already memorized sak’s verses, all three rounds lmao it’s arguably the _best debut_ in fliptop that when it came out, it already cemented his future legacy. and homies just collectively agreed to that. this theory was proven when people lost their shit (ofc including me) when he made a comeback after going on an indefinite hiatus. you can also add to your list the battle between *tatz maven & marshall bonifacio* since it is one of the most lyrical, technical, most substantial matches out there that also contains english. well, fliptop battles held in _visayas & mindanao_ are mostly in english. anyways, it’s still up to you guys. the hip hop community, especially the local underground hip hop scene here in ph, really has a lot to offer. hopefully both of you have so much fun embarking on this brand new journey.
There are also Filipinos in London's battle rap scene. There were events before were battle rappers from Canada, U.S. and U.K. were in invited to join battle rap events organized by Fliptop's Anygma himself for an English Battle rap.
Rap battle here in the Philippines is in another level... Trust me... Rap battler here are all brutal up to their bone... Imagine they study who their opponent is and use their weekness for the battle. In this video, loonie even use British accent to antagonize his opponent...
Wow, I don't see it coming that you will react to this kind of video. Well it is also an art. Spoken Word poetry is also popular in the Philippines, you might want to check some of them you'd enjoy it. ☺️
Maybe you are wondering why Filipinos are truly good in FlipTop. Back in our ancestors days there's balagtasan literally it is similar to flip top but in a form of poetry.
Our ancestors are already doing similar like these, it's called "Balagtasan", it's just similar today's rap battle thou but the modern version with or without a beat.
More fliptop reaction please .. I suggest you should also react to Zaito vs Charron and there's a english subtitle because zaito uses tagalog dialect more often
if you just understand filipino language, this isn't brutal enough, this is being good to your opponent lol, fliptop battle in the philippines is way way WAY brutal and personal
Its an old video, its the video that already existed even before copyright or restrictions policy started. Theres a lot of old videos in UA-cam still existed even though its broke the policy. Like the old Music songs. some just moved to restrictions or not recommended by UA-cam algorithms.
I hope you can react to another fliptop battle.. You guys looks fun. I like reaction to this video.. 😂 And I'm curious if you do another 1 with both filipino rappers.. 😂
Im a seaman before and when we reach europe or england ship security will tell you not to wear football jersy outside coz it can harm you as simple as that,
If you could just understand filipino language FLIPTOP well , its a roller coster ride some battles is so much funny or so much brutal... im not into rap actually but this industry is like a bursting feelings that you want to shout out...
Europe is different as well as england bcoz this countries has already an existing quarrels bcoz of football thats why troubles are normal but compared to phillipines is opposite, after the battles they will still frnds, their are some instances that after the battle their mot ok but they find some ways just for those guys to be okey...

Tbh the battle rap scene in Philippines is quite different compare to others. It's already treated as a piece of art here.
wish they would start rapping with a beat. cause that takes skill to think in queue of the beats
