- If you have sharpened a chainsaw much than you probably know that it can be a pain. I found a tool that I believe will save me lots of time from here on out. It make sharpen more precise at the same time. Have all your cutters the same make a huge difference in performance along with the life of the chain.

Attention: Just so you know, if you purchase any of the products above, I do get a small kick back from the purchase.
I just bought one of these things, never sharpened a chainsaw before. this video was a great introduction!
You have the same mill as I do. I have been searching for someone with a Mil-Rite like mine. I love it!!!!
Well I did have one just like yours. I decided to convert it to a 10hp Briggs motor to reduce the noise. It's actually a project I am working on now. Today I mounted the motor and started designing how the belt and pulley's will work. It is very hard to find any online info on the Mill Rite's, I've searched before with little luck.
@@JCsBees I do hope you are recording the process. I am considering converting mine to hydraulic using a briggs to drive it only to reduce time between fueling it up.
@@JCsBees I saw some little bit of info on the company but not the mill I have. Yours is the first I have ever seen that is even like these. I would think a track type mill like this would be popular. So much easier to run.
I am not recording the process but I am taking pictures as I go. Maybe I can turn them into a video once I am done. The bad part about my conversion is I had to completely change the design of the carriage. Instead of being triangle shaped it's now square. I am also getting rid of the hand crank to raise it. I am going to a winch lift design. My Briggs weighs around 80 pounds so I figured using the existing hand crank may be a little much to lift it.
@@JCsBees Ok. Cool. My idea will have some long hydraulic lines on it along the tracks but otherwise not so much of a change to the system.
Cool. I picked one up at a second hand store a few weeks ago for 2 bucks, was barely used. I am stoked to get to milling again. Thanks for the review!
Karson Branham What a deal. I need to get back to milling myself but the saw needs a rebuild. I need to finish ordering my parts. You ever rebuild a chainsaw? It's my first.
I have a stable of used saws. McCulloch is my brand of choice, especially the 10 series macs. There is a good source for parts at chainsawr.com Baileys also has quite a good source of aftermarket piston/cylinder kits for a lot of saws. Your Dolmar will certainly be worth putting back to use. They are good saws.

It's nice to see the sharpener being used in a real work setting but too bad details are skipped over like setting the angles, pitch etc . and especially , the brand name / model number of this sharpener ? !! I was looking at the Garber G-106B this one might be better but i don't know what it is .Thanks for the video though, looks like a great little mill set up !!!
My buddy just gave me one of these. Can’t wait to try it. 🍻
Hi Jason, thanks for the good video, i do have the sawmill like you.
I have been thinking of ways to use a Dremel with the right diameter bit to make sharpening easier. It seems the jig you're using could work especially if there is a stop for depth of cut.
Thanks, I will have to try this out.
I don't know if your model is the same but I purchased the Oregon Sure Sharp but was expecting a little more quality. The plastic hinge component had too much play as far as I'm concerned for the pitch. I realize it's just a "guide" but I had to make sure my movement was precise. I was hoping the tool itself did more of that. That said, my saw cut very well after sharpening.
Nice video and thanks for sharing. How many logs can you cut before you need to resharpen the blade?
Rick Rabjohn Well as long as you avoid sticking the bar and chain in any dirt the sharpening last for quite awhile. I can cut several logs without re-sharping. But sometime I find stuff hiding in logs like fence and bullets which would require a sharpening.
Nice video might have to pick one up..
What are your angles set at? TIA
good vid, thanks for sharing. I am going to try it out
J Hallam I like mine. Just make sure it made of metal. I have seen some with a lot of plastic parts. Good luck
What is the proper file height for sharpening?
Would one of these work on knife bevel
does it do the rakers also?
flatiron1969 This one does do the rakers. Just watch if you buy one. Some have a lot of plastic parts on them. I would avoid those one's.
Oi como Faso pra compra um afiado desse?
