I get a flush at 100 mg. Niacin has cured my depression. I take it three times a day and I get the flush in the morning. I don’t get a flush on a full stomach. I had depression my whole life and spent years o medication. I got off all meds and stuck to a low carb diet. I learned about niacin about a year ago. After two weeks, I noticed myself smiling and humming.

Wow that's awesome! So happy for you. But Niacin did not agree with me, I took 100mg of it and I ended up in the hospital ER. I was shaking so bad. At the ER they kepr me overnight for observation. Ever since that I am afraid to take it.

Wow, so happy for you. I've read a book called "Niacin: The Real Story" by Dr. Andrew Saul and it seems that he too suggests that b3 deficiency causes depression and mental disorders. The book even clearly states "It appears that a good deal of modern psychiatry depends on patients suffering from unidentified pellagra for its bread and butter". So you might've had a case of subclinical pellagra.

Thank you, Dr. Osborne, for this video on niacin. I'm a big fan of Abram Hoffer, who I heard about from Andrew Saul's vitamin videos. I bought his book, Niacin, The Real Story, and learned that niacin is best for cholesterol. In spite of my cardiologist's recommendation for statins for lipid panels, I started taking 3 g. a day of no flush inositol hexanicotinate. I got a beautiful lipid panel - ch-234, hdl-94, ldl-124, and trigl-66. And for depression, I take 500 mg. of niacinamide which shortly lifts my mood. I'm a fan.

There is some interesting info online about a young wrestler in Thailand who used it for drug resistant staph. I read that large amount of niacin can be used to get rid of a drug resistant staph infection, but they caution that it needs to be done in a hospital setting so the patient can be monitored. I'm just repeating what I read, I'm not a medical person.

See videos on Vitamin D3. At 5000 iu daily, it eliminates depression. If you are in higher latitudes you are not getting enough Sunlight. It takes two months to build up enough D3 in your body to begin the anti depression service. But you have to take Vitamin K2 m7 and magnesium with it-not necessarily at the same time. I take D3 and magnesium malate in the morning and 200mg K2 at lunch or dinner. If you weigh more or less than 180 lbs you can take more or less than 5,000 iu.
The videos explain it all. It simply eliminates depression, and your arteries will have less plaque!

So, this time i just take a 100mg pill with a meal.
Flush is tiny. I am going to avoid 500mg dosage.
If you are trying to lower your blood pressure, look at Nattokinase. If you want to clear your arteries, Use Vitamin K2 m7 and Vitamin D3.
If you want to clean debris from your blood and arteries, use Serrapeptase for a limited time-like 3 weeks.
Look up videos on all these.

Some people get it with a dose as low as 50mg, others can take 4 or 5 grams without flushing. So you are best trying 50mg then adding 50mgs the next time and keep doing that till you work up to larger doses.
I usually get it with 200mgs on an empty stomach after drinking coffee. However, I can take triple that without flushing if I take them after a big meal.
Just be careful as many people really don't like it. I do kinda like it but even I didn't like it when I took too much. It was too strong a reaction and I felt uncomfortable.
It really does feel like you have sunburn and it can be very itchy especially on your back and chest and shoulders.

I dont have to do everything, but doing something often creates wonderful building blocks for other bigger things some other time. That brings strength and probably some willpower
Good food nutrition will surely make you feel stronger in yourself and mind which does help.

I suffer from Sjogren syndrome caused by antibiotics and in turn have become intolerant to grains, dairy, olive oil, citrus, chicken, pork, sugar, caffeine, chocolate - basically everything. For years I have been trying to get healthy and trying to treat the various side effects caused by the syndrome by taking probiotics, vitamins and minerals. What I would like to ask is that I have started to take B-complex in 100mg amounts. Do I need to supplement with all vitamins and minerals to have proper absorption and bring my body into proper synchronisation? I live in Cyprus/ eastern mediterranean and my diet is very healthy as I do not eat junk or processed foods

It sounds like you have a gluten allergy. If you can cut that out 100% you probably won’t have the other allergies!

Are you suffering from diarrhea as well? I took clindamycin antibiotic and it’s ruined my life. I got c diff, then took dificid antibiotic, then got SIBO, took Xifaxan antibiotic, and now I’m clear of infection but I have diarrhea every day and have for the last 7 months. It’s been hell. I wonder if I have the same thing you have, but wondered if you have GI issues too

By the way, there's an excellent book by Dr. Sandra Kaufmann: The Kaufmann Protocol: Why we age and how to stop it. It's a must read for people looking to increase their healthspan.

I remember the commercials from the 70s and 80s for Gerit9l. They specifically mentioned Niacin. I have not heard ANYTHING about it since until watching videos such as these. Amazing that it has been "forgotten".

15:20 "Niacin reduce LDL and VLDL" well recently they did a study and found that even Oreo cookies will do the same, and since Niacin increases blood glucose (and so does Oreo, I assume) I guess we can figure out why LDL is high in some people (because their blood glucose is too low?).

@@brucelevine6517 That is the flushing sensation. Many people like the sensation after awhile, although the first experience of it usually is alarming. Scarring would only occur if you scratched too hard, because it makes the skin itch as well.

I took 250 of Niacin with flush and did fine at first. Later in the evening I had a bad reaction and thought I was going to die. I felt like I was passing out and it was frightening. I have a gene variant called SLCO1B1. .

What does this gene variant mean? That you can’t take B3? I’d like more info about it, it had B1 at the end of the variant, does this have to do with B1 vitamin as well?

I actually passed out one time and hit the tile floor. I had taken niacin and went to bed. I got up to get a drink and started to feel real weird, yelled my.sons name and hit the floor. I sat there for a minute then got up.and ate a little. I think it was 500mg capsules at the time. I threw them out and switched to 100mg. So far no issues.

    • @erikhancock98569

Taking a 1000 mg dose of vitamin C with the Niacin will reduce or eliminate the flush response. Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine. You could also switch to Niacinamide to avoid flushing.
