Nice tutorial. Can I propose some ideas for future videos? 1. USD/Solaris. What is it? What's the benefits and disadvantages? What's the pipeline for geometry, lights, cameras, render nodes as I believe it is a bit different than non-USD workflow. 2. Rendering with Renderman for Houdini and Render settings in Houdini as there are a few differences with Renderman for Maya. For example, as far as I know, there is no spooling option so you are stuck with Houdini Render dialog box instead of LocalQueue which shows you correctly the rendered frames, how many are left, denoising as well as time remaining. Houdini Render dialog box doesn't show any of that. 3. Compositing in Fusion. Perhaps you can show how to use the AOVs as Fusion for example interprets some AOVs in a different way than Nuke. For example, z depth is inverted in Fusion so Fog and Depth Blur doesn't work correctly out of the box. Thank you in advance.
Hey, thanks for the suggestions. So far as Houdini/Renderman goes (most of this scene was created in Houdini actually) I can say that I'm already in the process of making some tutorials so expect them soon. Fusion I already use for compositing in my commercial work so I probably should be covering that more! As far as Solaris goes I haven't really looked into much but it seems cool, I'll do a bit of research and get back to that one. Thanks again for the suggestions, always looking for good ideas! -Michael
Looks like it's only supported up to 2018 - an alternative is to displace your water using AAOcean as seen in this tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/yVH_-Gqig4w/v-deo.html
