Sometimes with rc students I will get them in a good position and then say power off and glide back for a landing because your prop just came off. I like to see how they react, if they can do it and to leave them with a memory that it can happen and not to panic. I can also see what they do with retracts and do they look for a grass landing if they can't make the field.
Yes, it's just a foam model plane, so lots of flex in the wing and a very high thrust to weight ratio compared to full scale. Also, the geotextile runway here is very bumpy, so it's almost impossible to get a smooth take off or landing.
Thanks. I was surprised how hard it was to get right, and I fly sailplanes! The Avanti carries speed well without power, so it definitely requires some practice to get the right approach and stop before the end of the runway.

Thought it was a full sized aircraft at first, was thinking man that planes looking flimsy then when it opened throttle on take off 😶

Nyoom
Nice. Way to many RC-pilots never do this and completely unnecessarily crashes their planes due to lack of basic training.
