- #2 Arctic Adventure Vlog
In this video, I take my new motorhome, Barbara Bailey, from Harwich in England to the Hook of Holland in the Netherlands.
This is on board the Stena Britannica, a bigger ship than those I've used from Scotland to Northern Ireland. Check out the cabin, the amenities and what it's like to travel by motorhome across Europe.
Please subscribe, it would really help.

GRMA @Veltroi !!
Don't you just love the Dutch accent - Good Morning it ish now shicksh o'clock! £163 is simply phenomenal value for what you got! Great video again - looking forward to the whole series. The midnight sun is on my bucket list. Best regs John
Couldn't agree more! That really was great value - I wonder is it because this is a lesser used route? I didn't book too long in advance - maybe a couple of weeks.
Lots of videos to come in this series!
I'm planning to take this ferry in April then cycling to Konstanz
Nice long cycle!
Another cool video Patrick 😎
Thanks, Mark.
I just got back myself from using the eurotunnel. Really enjoying your video Patrick
Thanks, James. Was the Eurotunnel very busy?
@@PlanetPatrick it wasn't too busy to be honest think the train over was half full and the one back was a little busier. The good thing is they allowed me on an earlier train each way which was good.
I'm going to be doing this route in a couple of weeks. I've travelled by daytime before but this will be my first overnight crossing. Do they allocate your cabin number/key when you check in before boarding?
Yes you get your key and room number at check in!
Planning a trip in April, do you know if you can park overnight ready for the 9am ferry. Thanks 🤩
In Harwich? I parked at a nearby campsite but I’m told that there’s streets where it’s okay to wild camp. All shown in the usual apps.
Did you take any other ferries on this trip? :)
Yes, there will be more (and non-ferry content too!)
Do they have breakfast 🤔
?
Yes, they do. Either in the main restaurant (called Taste) or at the coffee shop. As I was travelling on a budget, I brought my own with me and made coffee in the motorhome at my first stop,
Definitely want to do this trip now. En ik spreek Nederlands ook! Love it when you speak Irish!
It's a fun trip! I didn't realise you were fluent in Dutch!
bit of a weird question, can you get the stairs from where the cars are? not too keen on lifts :S
Not weird at all - yes you can takes stairs the whole way
@@PlanetPatrick God all those stairs! great if you are fit but my god I needed oxygen half way up lol
There are a LOT!
Could you do a walkthru of your motorhome? My first memories of the world were the Hook.
Or just mention which one it is.
It’s a Bailey Autograph, 68-2
Whats it like sleeping on a ferry? Can you feel it rocking? We go on one at the end of August :)
It can rock a little bit but I don’t mind it at all! It does depend on the weather for sure. Should hopefully be gentle in August. Happy travels!
@@PlanetPatrick Thank you! 🤞 I get motion sickness easily 🙈 Great video, was nice to see it all.
@@PlanetPatrick We are going on it in a few weeks time. This will be our third time of going. Cant wait :)
Safe travels!
How many bags you can bring it with you ?
On this route, foot passengers can take 2 x 20kg bags plus hand luggage.
If i want go with out car , is there taxi car in holland area ?
A simple Google search shows a number of taxi companies in the Hook of Holland area.
Is their wifi on board?
There's an FAQ on my site with the latest information about that: thisisplanetpatrick.com/video-ferry-from-harwich-to-hook-of-holland-stena/
Very interesting but a pity that you didn't give any information on the food availability.
There’s a companion article coming shortly on it which covers that.
Mmm... Bombay Sapphire....
Hahaha!
