Thanks a lot for this video. Just about to book a ticket for myself and my collie and was interested to see what the cabin and dog walking area look like. Got everything I needed and more. Thanks!
Hello, thank you for a very informative video. Are all of the pet friendly cabins on the deck 10? Are the at the front or at the back of the ferry? Greetings! :)
Hi guys thanks watching , yes the Pet Friendly Cabins are on Deck 10 , inside and outside facing with different sizes available. From memory I think they are in the middle . Hope that helps Helen and Martin
She does doesn't she. She made herself quite comfortable on the boat. Still doesn't like getting up in a morning though it's like having a teenager around again. 😂. Thanks for watching H and M
Thank you for showing us the fur babies facilities, that is really helpful. Like you, we wouldn’t put our babies into the kennels but it is good to know that if you did you could keep an eye on them. Thanks guys
Hi Mike and Donna . It was a good service and we would definitely use it again. Our pooch is a full family member and hates being separated from us , so it’s cabin or the Eurotunnel for us . Thanks very much for watching and commenting , much appreciated. Best wishes Helen and Martin
That was really interesting. I laughed when you said no doggy odours, I thought I have a feeling there would be if my three mutts were in there. I travelled with the car from North Shields to Denmark about 30 years ago and was very sick, unfortunately I was the same crossing the English Channel so ever since then I’ve used the shuttle. However, taking the Ferry does save so much driving I think I would definitely try it again in the future. Thanks for sharing a really informative video.
Hi Sylvia , we were expecting a rough crossing but if it was rough , we slept through it , all three of us. I think this is a good route for Northern Europe and means we don't have to bother with the Dartford Bridge/Tunnel traffic so on the whole we enjoyed it. Poppy steadfastly refused to wee on the 'mat' in the small exercise area however and looked at us in disgust when we tried to encourage her. We had to stop as soon as we got off the boat. Thanks for watching best wishes Helen and Martin
@@helenandmartinsTreks I thought I would have a battle when I saw that scrap of grass. Jasper doesn’t even like to go on the lead that would definitely be a step too far! 🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing guys. The pet friendly cabin looked very good but agree that the exercise area could be better. Enjoy the trip and we’re looking forward to the videos as and when you get the chance to upload them.
Hi Chris , thanks very much and thanks for watching. She's a full family member is our Pops , thankfully on this trip we are finding that the Germans are dog lovers in general and Poppy is welcome everywhere we have been. Best wishes Helen and Martin
Very interesting thank you for doing this! Now we know it would be a good crossing for us and the dogs. Have a great trip, will be following along with interest ❤
Thanks very much , we regard as an option now for Northern Europe. Hope your trip is going well , we have just had a wet but pretty amazing day in Potsdam. Best wishes H and M
Bon voyage guys, looking forward to the progress! Intrigued by small digital device on windscreen, is it a speedo? I’ve been looking for a solution to the almost unreadable (in sunlight) Fiat dial.
Hi Peter thanks for watching , it’s a Heads Up Display , factory fitted but made by Pioneer and I understand can be retro fitted easily. Solves the problem you describe. It also gives directional arrows from the onboard sat nav system if required. We don’t use the fiat fitted system though preferring a bespoke Van Sat Nav. Best wishes Helen and Martin
Hi , good morning. I can't separate the cost of the cabin from the total ferry cost , but I can tell you we paid £466 return on the Harwich to the Hook of Holland Ferry in September including a Pet Cabin . Our next video this afternoon breaks down all the costs of that trip and the next Trip to Spain. Hope that helps and thanks for watching best wishes Helen and Martin
Hi Mark - £461 return with an outside cabin. Probably dearer than the Folkestone crossing , but minus the diesel costs down there ( no M25 - Dartford Bridge/tunnel to) and then back up the other side through France to Northern Germany . It also saved us a night stopover . We live in Norfolk of course so it's a miles saver for us. Hope that helps , best wishes
Extremely helpful, thank you! Are there any requirements for visiting Holland e.g. Visas? Also is the pet exercise postage stamp (😂) open to visit the whole trip?
Hi there’s no visa requirement yet from the U.K. , but there plans to make us apply for visa a waiver , similar to the USA’s system . It’s keeps being delayed and no one knows when they will start it. The Pet Exercise area is a postage stamp , although it is available the whole trip .The Pet Cabins are very good though. Thanks for watching. Best wishes Helen and Martin
Sounds like a simple process. Cabin actually looks quite nice. I was kinda glad there were no dogs in the kennels I think it would make me sad looking at them. But I'm a bit of a softie for doggos as you know 😊 I really don't think Daisy would have a wee on that small area though she's such a fuss pot 😂 Have a fabulous trip you three ❤x
Hi guys, It was pretty good all round really , bar the limited exercise space and the day time trip is only 7 hours so maybe not such a problem , the evening ferry is longer to allow you to sleep and not need a stop over so it could be a problem . Thank full old iron bladder wasn't bothered. Best wishes and thanks for watching H and M
Hi it was very helpful. I’m going to travel with my dog to Netherlands. Can you please list a type of documents you had to have for your dog ? Did you need to do blood test ?
Hi Karolina, just picked up your message , we’re literally just walking out the door to explore Toledo for the day , It will probably be tonight when I reply hope that’s ok , thanks for watching Helen and Martin
Hi Karolina, good morning and Happy Easter. There are 2 parts to this, what is needed to go out of the U.K. and into Europe and what you need to return. To go out you will need (assuming your dog doesn’t already have a valid EU issued pet passport) an Animal Health Certificate issued by a vet. This is presented at your departure point. Prior to return your dog will need to have a tapeworm tablet, again given by a vet and recorded in the AHC. I also carry with me, just in case I need them, a copy of Poppy’s health insurance, microchip certificate and vaccination card. There are a couple of useful Facebook pages to help one is called “Animal Health Certificate” and is run by a vet and the other is “Recommended Vets for Tapeworm Treatment” this includes a really useful map of vets that have been used and recommended by other travellers. We also did another vlog called “ will Poppy get through Pet Reception “ although this is Poppy going on the Tunnel the Animal Health Certificate process is explained. We also did a vlog in our Ten Minute Tuesday segment called “ Taking your pet into Europe “. I hope all this helps, if you need anything else please ask. Best wishes, Helen and Martin.
Hi , No she's not a service animal and I think you can be a foot passenger but best to check with the Ferry Company. Thanks for watching Helen and Martin
Hi Dale, there are a few steps in the process, but don’t worry it’s not quite as daunting as it seems. Firstly your puppy will need to be microchipped then once he/she is at least 12 weeks old they will need to have a rabies jab, you will then need a vet to issue an Animal Health Certificate . I have copied 2 links to a couple of our previous vlogs which you may find useful. They explain the process in more detail. “Will Poppy get through pet reception” which is AHC related and a more generic Vlog about travelling with a dog in Europe ua-cam.com/video/C_GFIBfmAYQ/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/6apDCHUqzh8/v-deo.html . These vlogs also contain links to Facebook pages/groups that help with questions and queries about travel plus recommendations for vets in this country for an AHC and vets in Europe for tapeworm treatment prior to your return. We hope all this helps, any questions please ask and thanks for watching. H&M 😀
Hi I found this really useful - thank you. We're about to do the same. Am I right in thinking that the documentation is checked at the UK side rather than the HofH side? Thanks in advance.
@@joannacase203 oh, not sure we’ve not been in that position, but I suspect you would need to go to the boot and scan . They don’t come out of the booth normally. It’s not a rushed or a pressured process and we found the staff very helpful and relaxed , it’s the check in Ferry staff that do it not border control.

There’s a separate pet reception for the tunnel by comparison, but as you pull up to the boat check-in booth , they give you instructions re the dog, if you have a pet cabin they’ll send you to the customer services deck 9 after you parked and pet cabins are on deck 10.
