Thank you for sharing your floss organization. I would love to see how you organize patterns as well. I think your birds are so cute and will be easier than looking through each project card. I love the tip to snip lengths on card and only pulling one half - totally going to be using this going forward. Have a great stitching weekend.
Hi Jen, Thanks for sharing your floss organization. It is always nice to see other options. I'm a bobbinator, but I have some specialty fliss in floss away bags. I don't have alot of it. I love the little bird cards. I usually put the bobbins for a project on a ring, but have a few thread cards.
How great!! I love your methods and your binders. I’d love to see your pattern organization, too! You truly are so inspiring, Jen!! And Brandon is Super Editor!!
Wow! Goals! I am so disorganized, I keep buying floss by project and I know I must have so many duplicates! Including patterns!!! Thank you for sharing!
So glad I found this. I’m just now collecting floss and was trying to figure out a good system for my dmc. Definitely don’t have a full set but your tips will be perfect for my limited space and I have at least 4 large binders to get me started. Thanks so much. I like how your brain works. I love to organize to a fault as well. Yes any tips on pattern storage would be fun. I’ll look see if you made a post for that for sure
Of course we want to see how your organize your patterns! Thanks for sharing your floss organization. I keep mine in floss away bags, in number order, in a big drawer. But I don’t have that many WIPS so I can always find what project has the floss away bag with a specific floss if it’s missing from the drawer. I appreciate your love for DMC.
Like your binders. You gave me idea. I'm gonna cut my project cards between floss, leave the floss on them, punch a hole and put them in rings in order combining duplicates. Very little floss moving to different cards. Would like to see your pattern organization.
Thank you very much for showing your thread organization. I am a little bit relieved that it is also evolving and not perfect. Makes me feel better about what I am currently doing. Very selfish view, I know. I like your birdies on the rings and your thread cards in general.
It's definitely a process and I try to keep changing it to make it work. Sometimes I might spend a bit too much time organizing it all... I could stitch so much during those hours!
I love, love, love how organized you are! I’d love to see how you go about kitting up a project. How do you decide how much floss goes on your card? Do you make your own floss organizers? I’m trying to work on mania and there are so many options! And limits on my floss collection lol
I thought I was OCD, but oh my! You've passed me by! Ha. Yes, to the pattern organization. For fancy floss I store in a decorative box in snack baggies with 3X5 cards to help them stand up. I put on rings when kitting up, with a note pencilled in for project it's in. That's probably way too casual for your brain, eh? Have you explained the color cards hanging from twine on wall above shelf? What is that for?
Oooooh how I’d love to have an old oak card catalogue unit! I’ve looked but they are pretty expensive. I started looking years ago. I should have asked at my old school but we were transferred to another school with a computerized system and I never went back to check. ☹️. Could you put it on a shelf or drawer unit to give you more storage underneath rather than legs? Thanks for sharing Jen! Sally In Northern California
I love the catalogue so much - someday it'll be a useful organizational tool I swear! It's just soooo heavy - I think it would kill any of my temporary furniture I've got in this apartment.
Jen - What material did you use to punch the bird cards out of? I like your storage ideas - is this still the way that you currently store your flosses or have you changed your methods in the past year?
I’m definitely tweaking the system. But the dmc binders still stand. Still working out what to do with the extras. And while I loved the birds I can’t keep them organized in the binder. Maybe with the extra storage in my craft room now I can figure something out! I totally used old file folders for those bird punches. They worked pretty well and got rid of some clutter!
@@quirksandstitches The birds looked like plastic so nice to hear they are old file folders. Having a ton of floss and figuring out a system that works is definitely a challenge. I have a lot of bobbins, but I would like to move to a different system. Thanks for the reply!
Thanks for watching! I make the project cards. I'm working on getting the file a little easier to use but right now it's kind of clunky and not very user friendly.
Oh the dilemma of the elusive missing colour. We live in a rural community and there are no craft stores near us, but I have been known to frantically rummage through EVERY project I have to find the needed colour. I get quite manic about it and will run upstairs and down looking😦My husband has learned to recognize this behaviour and take cover until said thread 🧵 is found😂
This is the most unique way I've seen someone store their flosses. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Thanks!

Glad it's helpful! I'm working on a pattern organization video this week!

I think the most important thing is to figure out what works best for you! I'm always glad to show my systems... though they are bound to change!

Of course! I still buy duplicates... at least it doesn't go bad!

I'm going to hopefully get the pattern organization up this week!
Enjoyed seeing how you organize your thread and would def love to see how you organize your patterns.
Awesome - I'm working on getting something up!
So happy to see a fellow bobbin ditcher! I love seeing how other people store their floss but sooo many people do bobbins and bobbins are dead to me 😝
I did for a long time too - but the creases just got to me!!
Love seeing how you organize!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing your organization. You are inspiring!
Thanks for watching!

I love how organized you are! I am so not like that. 😆 I need to figure out a better way to store my floss. I’d love to see your pattern organization.
See the good thing about filming is I can show the organizational side... and not the mess! ;)
I might have missed it because cats, but where did you get your birds?
Yes, please show your pattern organization system. Thank you
It's next on my To Do list!
Thank you for sharing your floss system.
Sure thing! Pattern organization is next!

The color cards are my current WIPS. Each color is a different size project so I can visualize how much stitching I'm getting done!

And the fabric storage too!
The fabric is a mess.... but I'm working on it!
Yes, please show us how you organize your patterns. I need help!
Thanks for the ideas. Wish I had that bird punch 😂. Looking forward to the patter video.
I have no idea where mine is... probably in some box waiting to be unpacked in our future house!
Please share your method of organization for patterns.
Working on a video this week!
Bring on the pattern storage! I want to know all about the accompanying spreadsheet. - Dina
Oh... there are lots of spreadsheets! I'll be getting it up soon!!
I see there is now a third clothesline of projects on the wall!!!
I hope three is enough... there's not room for anymore!
Thank you for sharing. Where did you get your floss cards from? The ones you use with your projects 😊
Thanks for watching! I make the project cards. I'm working on getting the file a little easier to use but right now it's kind of clunky and not very user friendly.

Haha - I've also done that!! I'm getting better about making substitutions if I have to... but I really like to stick to a pattern if I can.
Cool beans.
Thanks for watching!
Show me the patterns!!!!! :)
Time got away from me with the 24 hour event - but the pattern organization is coming! I promise!!
