I came to Christ at the tender young age of 53. God does want us to accept His Son and accept His word, and He gives us many, many chances to do so. I'm so grateful for his grace and mercy and rescue! My life has been infinitely better since receiving the gift of grace and the gift of gratitude.
The bible says, that no one goes to hell bc of his rejection of Jesus, but bc and according to his own deeds. Jesus just happens to be the only way out of this dept, bc he paid the price for it. So basically, the atheist is saying, that its gods fault that the atheist sinned and did not want to take the free gift of eternal life. What does he want? That god does not practice justice? So justice is no good? Why then the moral outrage against the bible? And if god shows mercy, sacrifices himself on the cross, so that his beloved children do not have to suffer for themselves, he calls that gunpointing. Non of that makes any sense.

The atheist doesn't realize thay his actions are his own, not God's. So if this guy goes to hell, its not because God used force or coercion, or "held him at gun point". No, It's because that guy rejected the free gift that God was offering him. God simply says "by my grace, here's this free gift of salvation. You don't have to work for it, nor do you have to work to keep it. It's yours forever and always if you put your faith in my only begotten son." Now if I, as the individual, refuse that gift, it's not God's fault. It is my fault and I have only myself to blame.

Understanding your arguments better to strengthen them. 2. Understanding their arguments better to counter them. 3. General learning. 4. Teaching the audience so that they may make up their own mind. 5. Understanding their problem better so you can develop and present a better solution for them. All of these are facets of learning to see things from different perspectives for a higher level understanding much like you have two eyes that produce two different 2D images, but in the reconciliation of those different perspectives, we develop a 3D understanding. Disagreement in a lower dimension leads to a better understanding in a higher dimension.
